Went here for botox for my very old and very wrinkled forehead while snowbirding at the nearby One Broadway. The front desk receptionist and other staff were all sweet enough to pretend not to be shocked at the pronounced lines traversing my forehead that so obviously needed to be botoxed into submission. My appointment was shortly after the office opened for the day and I saw the doctor without a wait. That's probably the best time to go. I'll stand by my deleted opinion. Exceptionally rude business culture. Inappropriate with clients; inaccurately accusatory, then surprised when someone stands up for themselves. Despite being begged to return after being treated disrespectfully by obnoxious staff, (particularly Carrie and the jackass receptionist), Dr. Barnes reneged on her apology because she "doesn't want a pink slip." (Direct quote). Apparently, business first, patients second. I was trained during my plastic surgery fellowship to treat patients well and business will follow. It would seem that neither medical director, Barnes, nor owner, Castillo-Plaza, learned that maxim during their respective training in internal medicine and gynecology. (There is no trained Dermatologist on staff or available at Dermacare). Dermacare is only one of the all-too-numerous aesthetics boutiques in town. As I advised Dr. Barnes, I will not be returning to Dermacare for more abuse. I would recommend consulting the Aestheticians at Barba Clinic on Biscayne (especially Olga, Michelle and Astrid). A little more costly, but genuinely compassionate without patronizing facades. And, Dr. Alicia Barba is a trained and Board Certified Dermatologist. The response from Carrie, below, fails to acknowledge that my motivation as an Elite reviewer is to render an honest opinion. She was personally quite rude and offensive, intentionally shaming me for my lifestyle choices and doing so publicly to the new reception staff. Dr. Barnes apologized for Carrie's misconduct, admitting that she was unprofessional and inappropriate. I was then invited back to the boutique with Dr. Barnes' apology, which she rescinded because her employer, Dr. Castillo-Plaza, allegedly threatened her job and she has "a family to support." When Dermacare first opened, there were limited alternatives. That is no longer the case and my recommendation is another aesthetics boutique. Finally, defamation is an act of publishing a false or fraudulent statement. Notably, Carrie never denies her rude and disrespectful conduct because it's all factually demonstrable. HIGHLY RECOMMEND dr B is the BESTEST. i had been going to dr brandt's (RIP) office in the gables and getting good but unfortunately relatively UNaffordable treatment maintenance. i was VERY hesitant to leave the expertise and client relations (including goodwill services like tweaks and corrections since we know cosmoderm med is not just science but an art) of his office. to me, sometimes the client service is more important than the treatment itself. i needed a comparable treatment and client oriented cosmoderm spa but one at more affordable pricing but was afraid to leave 2 MD dermatologists at my office in the gables. i don't remember how, but i stumbled upon dermacare and immediately felt comfortable and at east with dr B. she has made great recommendations, said hmmm maybe not a good idea/not worth the money, not enough of a fix, cost effective or otherwise when she believed it. to me, that builds HUGE trust and credibility. never at any time did i feel pitched--and believe me i'm a great pitch detector, to the point where i have terminated business or relations with merchants than behave in that fashion. i feel like a more knowledgeable consumer when i leave which is VERY important in this business. anytime i've had questions or concerns, i always felt validated and valued. i have been pleased with my injectable treatments (can't speak to aesthetics or lasers) and their efficacy. pleased enough that when i return to miami for vacations. i have gone in for treatments knowing that follow up would be logistically complicated if not impossible. but alas, not necessarily impossible because dr B *and the staff) responded with "personability", urgency, sensitivity, empathy, courtesy, and friendly cooperative partnership on possibly even better solutions and with a client goodwill approach. i DO NOT want to be argued with when expressing questions concerns to any business. that has NEVER happened to me here (unlike my previous office in PA)--with one EXCEPTION of an administrative issue on an appt cancellation which wasn't even a big deal--which is very important to me. the last thing anyone wants, when they are being honest, truthful, altruistic and respectful is to get their concerns dismissed or even diminished. see what i mean about client service??!! dr B has been awesome in that space and i applaud her for it. treatment is great. prices are reasonable. staff is friendly. everyone is approachable. environment is peaceful, calm and soothing. aesthetics are sterile but warm and comfortable. dermacare prices are moderate in comparison to market but overall cosmoderm is not cheap which is why i'm choosing $$$ instead of $$ read more
