We hired Derek after being disappointed by another contractor who redid our hall bathroom. The previous contractor refused to finish up some things like drilling holes in the medicine cabinet (so that shelves could be installed--seems like a pretty basic thing, right?) and moving a decorative shelf that he hung without asking. Derek was great! He asked a lot of questions about where we wanted our shelves positioned, and he actually measured (something our previous contractor neglected to do)! He was able to drill all the holes in the medicine cabinet so that the shelves could be installed (and the cabinet actually used), he removed the decorative shelf, patched the drywall, matched the texture, painted, and then rehung the shelf and added our towel rack. These guys are great! From Hannah who runs the office, to Derek at the pointy end with the drywall :) Communication was always prompt and very pleasant. They are not only professional, but very polite and genuine at the same time. Their quoted price was extremely reasonable and the workmanship impeccable! I had a rental property that had a part of a bathroom ceiling torn out to look for a leak and it was a mess! Derek patched the ragged hole, covering up cabinets and the bathtub area completely beforehand, taped, textured and painted, and it was like it never happened! :) He even caulked sections of the bathtub tile which wasn't in the quote and I totally appreciated that! There were a bunch of holes that moisture mitigation made to use fans and dry our ceiling from an incident stemming from the master bedroom flooding. We had an unfortunate experience with Derek Dean and you should look elsewhere to drywall repair and installation. We paid Derek and his assistant $1500 to patch 12 spots on our walls where electricians left holes from their work. We agreed he would get the walls "paint ready" (i.e., we didn't need to do anything but paint the walls after he was done). The patches were all smaller than 3 feet by 3 feet. At first, we were encouraged by Derek's ability to schedule us the same week. But, once the work started, we became concerned. Derek and his assistant rushed the job and "finished" by lunchtime. Derek said to call if we had issues and there were at least two patches that definitely needed another pass. I also ended up doing a lot of heavy sanding and wall prep for painting the other patches. We called and texted Derek several times. Occasionally he responded and would schedule time to make the fix, but he NEVER showed up. It's been several months and we are now moving on to paying someone else to fix his work. read more

If 6 stars existed, we would give Derek Dean Drywall a 6 star rating, hands down! We hired Derek Dean Drywall to drywall our whole garage and they did a phenomenal job! Not only was he and his team professional, respectful, punctual but also was very honest. Not many contractors in our experience are upfront and true to their words and Derek Dean proved us wrong. If Derek was not able to do something, then he will tell you and be very upfront about it. He would also work with you on your requests and provide some collaborative ideas/suggestions, showcasing his expertise. We had to delay the project for a few months since we were waiting for our new garage door to be made/delivered/installed. During the waiting period, Derek/Hannah were very patient and proactive in checking in with us on the status and scheduling. When we needed them to start the job earlier than scheduled, they were very flexible, working with us around the timing of the garage door installation and the electrician. The team worked very efficiently, cleaned up after themselves and continuously communicated what they were going to do each day. We truly feel Derek and Hannah are one of the hardest working contractors in town. Hannah was amazing and professional, always responsive and pleasant to work with. Derek would always be there early and would work through the weekends. Hannah did not miss a beat in responding to my messages. If things were not done right, Derek would not hesitate to roll up his sleeves and do it himself. You can tell he takes a lot of pride in his work and wants to make sure his customers are satisfied before accepting payment. Yes, I said "before accepting payment!" We had a last minute emergency and had to leave town before the work was completed. Derek helped me to patch the wall and ceiling (total 14 holes) after plumbing re-route. The place was a mess, but Derek assured me that everything would look great. They patched the holes, matched the texture, and painted them. Derek was very responsive and very upfront about what he could or could not do. The plumber also cut out the exterior wall, and I could not find anyone to repair it. Rain was coming, and I was concerned about rodents, so Derek did a big favor and helped to cover the wall using the existing wood panel. I am so grateful for that.
