A decent little dive, with cheap beer served cold. Though at the time of our visit, the patrons and bartender seemed to be suspicious of us outsiders and weren't very sociable with us compared to most other bars I've been to. The bar is across the street from a skate park and apparently they have a lot of problems with thirsty kids coming in for something to drink. A sign warned them that if they are only getting water then they need to bring their own cups.

Great place for Breakfast! My wife and I had just got into town. We went to another place first, but were turned away because we were a few minutes past when they stopped serving. Then we remembered that a friend had recommended the Depot. We have no problems eating in bars, but be warned... This is a Bar. However, having said that, the food was really good, the silver and dishes were clean and the Coffee was hot. Our server was friendly, but aren't all bartenders? Currently, this may be the only place to eat a late morning Breakfast in Richmond. In any case, this is definitely our Breakfast place from now on.

Monday, I was driving around Richmond, MO to find a place to have lunch that wasn't fast food. What's wrong with this town? Out of the 2 "restaurants", one was closed on Mondays and the other had gone out of business. So I tried Depot Tavern. I have had bfast there but not lunch. I must say that the Depot Burger, curly fries and jalapeño poppers were quite tasty. The hamburger was NOT one of those preformed cardboard patties. And Mary, the cook, didn't overcook the poppers. Kudos Mary! I've eaten their Tenderloins before, which are really good, so this was a nice change. Even though it's a Tavern, I would recommend this place. Mainly cuz they're open Monday thru Saturday for Bfast, Lunch & Dinner and the staff is friendly.

    It was sooo yummy!

I ate at the Depot here in the big town of Richmond, I had the Rubin Sandwich with curly fries and fried green beans. Now, I don't like to brag but I know a thing or two about Rubin's, it was pretty awesome, my expectations were so-so, but that first bite: Party in my Mouth circa Now! I was on my lunch break and the service, although good, was a tad slower than I wanted. I made it back in the nick of time. Not a big deal but it cost em a star.

We knew we were going to love this place when a neighbor came out to distract his pit bull as we walked by. And when we stepped in to head the bartender explaining to a couple of other customers how terrified she is of clowns, we somehow knew we were going to have more fun here than we'd had all day. It turned out that bartender's name was Becky, and she's 1/2 of the couple who owns the bar. The other half is her husband, Waylan, who showed up later at the end of our visit. "Having a name like Waylan is like having the biggest cock," she said. Or maybe it was B who said that, I don't remember and my notes aren't very clear. :) There is quite a collection of bras on the bar, a recent development. "A while back one of the customers just up and took her bra off, and said she wanted to hang it up. So we did. Then other ladies started doing it," Becky explained. "Now boxer shorts have even started to join the collection." We ended up spending out entire visit chatting with the bartender about their history with the bar. We really enjoyed our time here. In addition to the great personalities, this is a fun-looking bar all around and I'de love to visit again when it's busier. In fact, here's how good a time we had -- when we first arrived we noticed the Silver Strike machine and put a few dollars in it to play. But we never got around to actually doing so! :)

We found the bar on our own as we headed on south out of town. "Did this place used to be further north?" we asked the bartender. "Nope, it's been here as long as I can remember," she said. "Actually it used to be down on the square," chimed a customer sitting at a nearby table. "About 3 years ago I think it was." So if you try to get here via GPS, make sure its database is up-to-date. :) Anyway, I'm usually not a fan of bars located in manufactured buildings because, as a general rule, they rarely have any character. But this bar has a few things that make up for the bland building it's in. For instance, since it also serves as a diner, it opens at 6:00am so you can get your drink on early. :) Also, their beer coasters cut from carpet samples are pretty clever and are a good example of the little details I look for in local mom-and-pop dives.

For what it is I should have given it 5 stars. The food is excellent the atmosphere is friendly with old mismatched chairs and tables, clean but old and small restrooms. A couple flat screens and pool tables. The crowd is typical small town locals, farmers and blue collar guys which I fit into pretty well. Friday and Saturday they have steaks and shrimp and during the week your typical bar food. However far from typical in taste. Everything is fresh nothing frozen. Big burgers cooked on a flat top along with fresh huge lightly breaded Tenderloins, perfectly cooked traditional wings and a giant Philly steak made out of sliced ribeye that is really hard to eat all of it at once. 1.50-2.00 16oz draws and a few different domestic bottles as well as mixed drinks. Smoking allowed but it's never been overpowering and I've been in several times. This is the best place in the surrounding area to eat hands down and worth the trip if your out driving around east of Lees Summit. Highly recommend the Philly, wings and the Tenderloin but everything is good
