If you're looking for the perfect dive bar in Weston, Beers to You Saloon is it. We stumbled across…read moreit (literally) while exploring and knew we had found a gem. The "Smoking Permitted" sign on the door wasn't just for decoration--you could smell the nostalgia in the air, complete with ashtrays on the tables. Classic. We grabbed a spot at the bar, where March Madness was on TV and the drinks were ridiculously cheap. Mixed drinks were never more than $5.50, beers were ice-cold, and the bartender was an absolute pro at keeping them coming. If we didn't have more places to check out, we might have just stayed put all afternoon. Of course, we came back later that night and grabbed a table. 80s music was blasting from the jukebox, the drinks were still flowing, and the crowd was lively. It's got that small-town Cheers feel--locals walk in, and their drinks are ready before they even say a word. But even as newcomers, we felt totally at home, swapping stories and laughing with the regulars. This place is a true dive bar in all the best ways, and we'll definitely be back next time we're in Weston!

They also had a full live band on the main stage downstairs not sure if that was a coincidence or if they do that every night but I was impressed!! I hosted a bridal brunch for my daughter before her wedding and chose Third Place Lounge in…read moredowntown Kansas City after finding it on The Knot. The venue looked perfect, so I reached out to Amanda and booked the event. A few weeks before the brunch, I had questions about flowers and parking. I called Amanda several times and never received a return call. I also texted her and discovered that the phone number listed on the website was not working. At that point, I became concerned and honestly wondered if I had been scammed. Since I live out of town, I asked my sister to stop by the venue. She went there twice. The first time, she spoke with someone at the bar who said Amanda would call me back, but I never heard from her. The second time, my sister was able to speak directly with Amanda, who said she had been very busy and would contact me. Eventually, Amanda called and apologized, but I felt she often spoke over me when I was trying to express my concerns. I found it unprofessional that multiple calls and texts went unanswered and that my sister had to make two trips to the venue before I received a response. A few days before the event, Amanda apologized again and assured me she would make things right. She told me she would be present on the day of the brunch and also mentioned she would reserve a parking space in front of the building for some of our elderly guests since the venue is located on a busy street. On the day of the event, I arrived to find scaffolding in front of the building, which was disappointing and affected the appearance of the venue. When I called Amanda, she informed me that she would not be there after all. The reserved parking space that had been discussed was also not available. The brunch itself went well. We had approximately 35 guests, the drinks were very good, and the staff members who were there worked hard. However, there were only two staff members serving our group, and the overall customer service leading up to the event left much to be desired. As someone planning an important event from out of town, communication and responsiveness are extremely important. While the event itself was successful, I was disappointed by the lack of follow-through, inconsistent communication, and unmet expectations. My hope is that Third Place Lounge improves its customer service so future clients have a smoother and more positive experience.

The drink menu has alcoholic and non alcoholic options. I have tried multiple cocktails and mocktails and I think the espresso martini drinks are where they shine the most. Of the 5 places we stopped at, Sammy's was the only one that I had not previously been to. It is also the only stop that I see myself not returning too. The joint is pretty small with a long wooden bar and the atmosphere is old school neighborhood dive bar. Equally as small was the hospitality from the lady behind the bar. We seemed to be interrupting her Candy Crush game or Facebook scrolling and she was in no mood for small talk, friendliness or any form of positive customer interaction that one expects when entering a watering hole. We ended up taking our beers outside to their less than spectacular patio, and left as soon as we could for a very cool experience 2 blocks north at the Colonial Club.

There are also a few other bars and restaurants close by and I often forget about that area as being a destination so, I'll have to go out there more often. It has a nice laid back feel. The inside of the restaurant is clean and the bar area is spacious, it wasn't crowded so I had plenty of space to sit solo for a late lunch. The menu isn't the most inventive, just good old fashioned bar food. However, to me that really hits the spot a lot of the time, I don't need all the frills all the time. They had a good selection of appetizers as well as sandwiches, burgers, pizzas and daily specials. I was craving a BLT. Usually the Peanut is my go-to but I must say Tower Tavern may now take top spot. Especially for the price...$10?! Yes please. Also, I am a sucker for homemade potato chips so I loved to see that as the side option. The bacon was crispy not flabby and sad, it had the perfect salty bite. The shredded cheese made me so happy because it was generously piled on the texture is just nostalgic to me. The tomato was overpowering, sometimes a soggy thick slice of tomato can ruin a BLT for me. I will definitely be back to Tower Tavern to use my Pub Pass and to try some more food. If you're looking for a very solid bar with very solid bar food I would say give it a try! The prices are right, the beer was flowing, and the food was tasty and executed right.
