If you find yourself passing through tiny Camden, Ohio, this is a nice "greasy spoon" to get yourself a quick, tasty bite. Their pizza, burgers, and fried "stuff" are all reasonably priced and look to be made to order. My mushroom swiss burger (double!!) was VERY flavorful, and added side of fries (I should have ordered a dinner, which would have included a fountain drink) hit the spot and didn't break the bank. Quick, friendly service, and if I wasn't VERY full, I would have enjoyed something from the LARGE, tempting menu of ice cream choices as well. Give 'em a try, if you're in the area...

I've been going to the Depot for years through different owners. I think with the current owners it's the best it's ever been. They are currently drive thru only due to COVID but they are rocking it. My go to's at the Depot a Chicken Bacon Ranch Pizza. The last time I got a CBR I got breaded chicken instead of grilled for something different and YUM!! Yes pizza, it's not just ice cream. Their pizza is awesome. Their Chicken Nuggets and Fried Mushrooms are yummy. In October they have a Philly Cheesesteaks Pizza that was to phenomenal. I am not sure if that's a regular thing or if it was just a special. A basic chocolate milk shake is my go to ice cream. I tend to get one to enjoy right away and one to take home and freeze for a later date. Something my mom used to do when I was younger.

A small town ice cream shop and eatery. Isn't much to look at. The dining options are limited. It's one of the few. Mostly greasy stuff. Coming through here we were looking for something to eat or something cold. It looks like the only place in Camden with ice cream. The menu lists several basic flavors. Depot Dairy isn't your average small town ice cream shop. There's indoor seating, meaning it's probably open all year. Okay for a small town like Camden. Indoor seating if you're hanging. There's also a drive thru.

    Perfect pork tenderloin sandwich!

The little train depot gives this diner it's name and it's quite small dining area is just that -- quite small. But the pleasant employees served us quickly and offered us truly the best breaded pork tenderloin sandwich and fried cauliflower we've had in years. If your looking for lunch and are in or passing through Camden Ohio, give The Depot and it's tenderloin a try. Definitely worth it!

Owned and operated by legendary DJ, graduate of the International School of Broadcasting and Camden native, Kim Dean, the Depot was founded from and old abandoned train depot that once served as a stopping point during the construction of the first coast to coast railroad. Purchased as an investment property in the 70's by the Doran Monarchy, The Depot has hosted celebrities such as Tom Cruise, Rob Lowe, Buddy Hackett and Wilfred Brimley, before his diabetes set in. The local Guy Fieri favorite has a complete and comprehensive offering of farm to table, locally sourced culinary specialties.

Midweek on a hot July day, this was the only place in town that was open, and boy were we lucky. We…read morewere driving out of town after a fun educational visit to the state museum grist mill, saw this place was open, and we had to stop. And boy was it worth it. Cold waters, cold sodas, and perfect one scoop waffle cones. I had pumpkin ice cream and the wife enjoyed cookies & cream. Friendly service. Incredibly inexpensive. And the cookie jars are as advertised, floor to ceiling, with an entire back room filled too. If you're touristing around in Metamora, this unique place needs to be one of your stops.

Grannies Cookie Jar & Ice Cream Parlor is a Metamora, Indiana icon, though it may be weird to call…read moreanything in this historic Franklin County town an actual "icon." There's quite a bit you know about me if you've followed my reviews for any length of time. This likely includes my long friendship with fellow Yelp Elites Rick G. and Holly G. - in fact, I performed their wedding ceremony! The three of us have actually collaborated on quite a few projects over the years, either due to Rick's music and comedy or because of my long history of activism and charity work. Frequently, our collaborations combine Rick and Holly's creativity with my activist spirit. For a couple years, Rick and Holly owned a shop in Metamora called Mosaic Learn & Play - I, in turn, owned a small charity bookstore within the walls of Mosaic. While I never spent nearly as much time in Metamora as did Rick and Holly, I spent my fair share of time there and grew to appreciate the picturesque, friendly town. Rick and Holly's wedding was even in Metamora! As is true of most historic towns, accessibility can definitely be an issue in Metamora. Truthfully, I'd say there's more that's not accessible than there actually is accessible in the town. Grannies is most certainly not perfect, a step greeting you at the front door and a crowded shop making even the most experienced wheelchair user more than a little paranoid. It's possible, I've been to Grannies more than once, but it's definitely a shop where I take my time wheeling and I am super careful everywhere I turn. Grannies, first of all, is an official world record holder. Granny owns over 2600 cookie jars - and I believe they're all actually here in this shop. She's held the record since 2012, as I recall. Grannies is, of course, an ice cream shop. Granny even makes all of her waffle cones by hand. Each one has a Hershey kiss at the bottom. She puts a whole lot of love in her waffle cones. The ice cream is pretty incredible, too. She has quite a few flavors and they're at reasonable prices for pretty darn amazing servings. Grannies is open 7 days a week throughout the year. While I can't say I'd drive all the way to Metamora for her ice cream, if I am in the Metamora there's no way I'm leaving without stopping at Grannies. Metamora is a beautiful little canal town. It has definitely been impacted by the pandemic, but the people are also hanging in there. I'm not quite going to say that time stands still here, but it's sure not a place you go to speed up. Metamora is a surprisingly easy drive from Indy and the entire Franklin County area could easily be a relaxing, fairly isolated day trip with Brookville also nearby as the seat of the county. There are even a couple places you can stay in Metamora, though they aren't particularly strong with access and you'd probably want to go to Brookville if that's needed. If you get a chance, head south to Metamora and be sure to stop in at Grannies for some ice cream and definitely check out those cookie jars!

We had to ask for the milk shake as it was not prepared with the test of the order. We told them of the error that we ordered a pulled pork sandwich not plain nachos. It was corrected and they gave us a free cone card. We ordered two inside out drumstick sundaes, amazing idea, with vanilla and chocolate swirl, there was only vanilla. We did not make them change those. The nachos and pulled pork sandwich were like something like you would get at a high school concession stand, nothing special. The sundaes were delicious in spite of the errors. I may come back for a frozen treat but not for food. Great variety and interesting options of frozen treats. It's a great atmosphere to enjoy a cone or sundae outside and stick around for a game of cornhole or watch the kids play. I, unfortunately did not have the time to stick around to enjoy any activities, so it was a quick stop and go. I ordered a turtle sundae to go. It was a large portion size - I mean really large! Plenty of caramel and chocolate covered with its and whipped cream. It was yummy. The ice cream (a soft serve) reminded me a little bit of ice milk. It seemed a little lighter version of the typical soft serve. The to-go sundae was served with a re-sealable lid which was a good idea- as this treat lasted more than one serving!
