Met a colleague here for lunch. It's a cute atmosphere with the train theme throughout the restaurant/bar. I ordered the beet salad it was pretty and delicious. The whole beets were something I usually don't see in a beet salad but it meant I got lots of beats. Dressing was served on the side and was a nice compliment. I also liked that I got a piece of bread with the salad. My friend got a blue cheese burger on which they serve the Faribault Caves blue cheese brand. Like the local ties. Service was good. I randomly picked this place, due to location. Loved it! We all ordered very different things, and they were all yumm!

Nice location, friendly helpful staff. The crab cakes were ok, as was the wild rice soup and oriental chicken salad. The pork schnitzel with spaetzle and sauerkraut however, not good. Too dry, could've used some brown gravy instead of the bbq sauce (?) or whatever it was that was smeared on it...I was hungry and didn't finish it, so it had to be bad... read more

Our Minnesota supper club quest continues on. We've searched high and low for them, and we've tried many. This one jumped near the top of our list! The only thing we found daunting was how extensive the menu is. We couldn't decide, and we wanted it all! Every supper club has fried walleye and we've gotten an order at each supper club. This one was, by far, the best. So piping hot, light light batter, flavorful, crispy, just yuuuuum! We got walleye and walleye fingers appetizer to share. Excellent! This was my least favorite. Not much flavor IMO. Scraped out the cheese like a good Midwesterner would and called it good. German Beer Cheese - likely one of the best cheese soups we've had. Creamy and hearty, delicious! This place needs a soup flight with all the varieties of homemade soups!! Waygu Works burger was a basic steak burger but on steroids. Local Waygu was so tender and juicy! Hot fries and it was just the perfect steak burger. Butternut Squash ravioli was a little too sweet on the sauce. The ravioli was great, but the sauce was very sugary. This would be much better in a light butter or olive oil sauce, spinach, diced tomatoes, something like that, IMO. The squash ravioli with squash sauce was too...squashy? Couldn't taste anything but squash. Filet Mignon Oscar style, served with Lobster mashed potatoes, topped with Alaskan snow crab bearnaise sauce and asparagus was OH MY GAHHHH! Couldn't get enough. Everything about this dish was fantastic! Waygu chopped steak dinner was tasty as well. We originally were served the Waygu Chicken Fried steak but it was corrected quickly. We tasted both but agree that the chopped steak dinner itself was awesome. So tender and delicious! Lime pie has a cornflake and buttery crust, fantastic. Cheesecake was so creamy, and just the right amount of pumpkin. This place jumped right up on our list of Minnesota supper clubs, and though this place is a supper club + more, it still gives the supper club food, feel and experience. Chef Jeff - the owner, culinary chef trained in NYC, brings a personal touch by walking around and introducing himself. Service was fabulous as well. We went for a little dinner after golf, and decided to go to the Depot. The Depot has a very nice special list and very unique dishes that are pretty rare to see. The good: the quantities are nice sizes, the fries are good, they switch up their specials often. The bad: the fillet burger was a little over cooked for medium, but still edible. The bacon looked like it was cooked twice. I would ask for a little pink or medium rare next time. The Korean fried rice was really flavorful, but probably too much flavor to rice. I took most of it home and added 4 to 5 cups of jasmine rice, which made the dish Nice, subtle, and tasty. read more

We ordered to go, 2 appetizers and 1 entree. We should have checked our meal before driving all the way home. We requested and paid for extra sour cream. What we got was a tiny tube of sour cream, about 1 tablespoons worth. They also placed that tube onto the very hot appetizer, so when opened, it was curdled milk again. They also included zero utensils or condiments like ketchup for the fries, or the dipping sauce for the chicken. Since we are in the middle of moving, we had no access to these ourselves. At these prices, you would think the restaurant would double check orders going out their doors. We even included a generous tip, hoping to ensure our order would be correct and complete. Food was mediocre because of the difficulty eating without utensils and lack of condiments. read more

We sat outside on the patio and the weather was perfect. You sit about 4 feet from an actual railroad track. No trains tonight. The food was good, I had a burger and fries and if that's what you're in the mood for, then you would be ok. The big bitch I have about it is that we got here at 7:30pm, it is now 9:15 and I just got my check. The service tonight was abysmal and slow. De-to-the-Licious I was pleasantly surprised when I tasted their fried fish especially after I had the award winning crab cake appetizer. I'm in Maryland area which is known for crab & I should have known better but had to try it since it was marketed as best ever. I had great service & enjoyed my meal. Walleye fish dinner was amazing, flaky, hot, seasoned well with just the right crunch. I will definitely return for more & this time with my tiger sauce. read more

Plastic water cup but the bendy straw brought this back to 4 stars. Then, they dropped some of my food while bringing it out. That's fine but the waiter tried catching my food as it fell. Like bro I won't eat if you touch it so let it go G. No hard feelings. The bloody is alright. Good mix but basic toppings. The really show stopped is the gravy they used on their mashed potatoes. The food was average all 5-7 times I have visited but at least it was consistent. Half the staff is very friendly and helpful but the other half... need more training, I will say this has improved a little over the last couple years. Let's talk pricing, this is out of line and getting worse. I'm glad to see it has consistent business but as a traveler I can easily say this place is not for me. I do like the fact that they put out a new daily lunch menu, it show some nice effort. But not only do I not remember what I ordered, all I remember was it wasn't memorable and over priced. Stopped in for the first time while visiting the area and was highly impressed. The decor is super cute and not too overly crowded. Our waitress was friendly and very helpful. Have not been to the Depot in years but decided to give it a try with a friend for lunch. We both were pleasantly surprised with the variety in the menu and friendly service. Although the restaurant was busy at lunch, the service was efficient and food arrived hot and fresh. The fries are exceptionally good and the soup of the day with pulled pork sandwich was worth the price. The decor is typical of a renovated train Depot and I think they could of added a little more to the Easter decorations budget than to purchase everything from a dollar store because it really just looks tacky rather than festive. read more

The food is good, and the service is good! I would move this up but the restaurant building is soooo loud when busy it takes away from the experience! The building needs some sound absorbing done to make this a great experience! The volume on my last visit made conversation at my table very difficult, I could feel my self tensing up just from the background noise! My experiences are usually very good at the depot in faribault, but the last time I went to eat with my mother it was very uncomfortable because of this one employee, I think her name was Lea, she kept stomping passed us while we ate and saying shes about to 'lose her shit' and if she wasn't running passed us she was glaring us down from across the restaurant, we had to make the visit short because of how uncomfortable she made us and i think it will be awhile till i bring my mother into that type of atmosphere again read more

I stopped at The Depot on a weekday for lunch and had a nice time. I don't know if it was every really a train depot, but it is near some tracks. A train went by while I was there and I was glad to see it was no disruption. If I hadn't seen it I wouldn't have known. The lunch menu had quite a few options. I had the Cuban sandwich and fries combo. The sandwich was large. I had to look at it for a few seconds to figure out how I was going to attack it. The meat was tender, thinly sliced, and piled high. The meat wasn't as flavorful as some I've had, but still good. The pickles and mustard were dominating it, but once I ditched the pickles the flavor of the meat came out. The French fries were perfect. You could just barely hear the soft crunch as you bite into them and the insides were nice and soft. They had five soups on the menu, so I was tempted into getting a cup. They were out of chicken tortilla, so I had the clam chowder. I didn't detect much clam, but the overall flavor was very good. The service was very good and my food came quickly. I thnk it was a little pricey but I'll ne back. read more

Yesterday, my family and I visited The Depot Bar and Grill in Faribault for the first time. I just wanted to take a moment to express how impressed we were with our waitress, Carolyn. She did an amazing job making sure we had enough time to look over the menu, keeping our drinks full, checking in on us, and providing exceptional service overall. All of this was done with a smile and friendly demeanor, even while she was busy working with other tables in our area. It was truly a joy to have her as our waitress, and unfortunately, this level of service is becoming rare these days. I hope the restaurant owners recognize what a gem they have in Carolyn. Thanks to her (and the delicious food and fun ambiance!), we will be making the drive from Kasson for more visits in the future. Carolyn, thank you for making our first visit a great one! read more

Have always enjoyed being at the Depot. Good food and service. Five of us and everyone had a very good meal.

I have had ok experiences here. Today I had the club BLT with their "homemade" chips. My husband had the patty melt with fries. The fries weren't cold, but they weren't hot. Patty melt was pretty standard. My club was quality, the turkey and bacon were top notch. But the bread was almost too toasted, like it wrecked them roof of my mouth. I don't believe the chips were homemade, they tasted and looked commercially produced. The Dr. Pepper was amazing, seriously. In the past, I've enjoyed the cheese curds. Some of the best I've ever had. Oh and the seasoned sour cream is a must, spicy (a little too salty) and great for dipping everything in. read more

The beet salad is amazing! First, it's huge. And second, the pickled beets are sooo good! Comes with a locally made blue cheese. My friend had a great house burger and sweet potato fries. I can't rate the food because we didn't get a chance to eat here. We walked in and we're rudely told by a male leaning on the hostess station " we're done". A female then commented "we will start seating again at 4:30." It was about 2:15 on Mother's Day. We could understand that they possibly had gotten slammed and had to stop but it was the manner that it was communicated to us.
