    Key lime pie

Our Minnesota supper club quest continues on. We've searched high and low for them, and we've tried many. This one jumped near the top of our list! The only thing we found daunting was how extensive the menu is. We couldn't decide, and we wanted it all! Every supper club has fried walleye and we've gotten an order at each supper club. This one was, by far, the best. So piping hot, light light batter, flavorful, crispy, just yuuuuum! We got walleye and walleye fingers appetizer to share. Excellent! This was my least favorite. Not much flavor IMO. Scraped out the cheese like a good Midwesterner would and called it good. German Beer Cheese - likely one of the best cheese soups we've had. Creamy and hearty, delicious! This place needs a soup flight with all the varieties of homemade soups!! Waygu Works burger was a basic steak burger but on steroids. Local Waygu was so tender and juicy! Hot fries and it was just the perfect steak burger. Butternut Squash ravioli was a little too sweet on the sauce. The ravioli was great, but the sauce was very sugary. This would be much better in a light butter or olive oil sauce, spinach, diced tomatoes, something like that, IMO. The squash ravioli with squash sauce was too...squashy? Couldn't taste anything but squash. Filet Mignon Oscar style, served with Lobster mashed potatoes, topped with Alaskan snow crab bearnaise sauce and asparagus was OH MY GAHHHH! Couldn't get enough. Everything about this dish was fantastic! Waygu chopped steak dinner was tasty as well. We originally were served the Waygu Chicken Fried steak but it was corrected quickly. We tasted both but agree that the chopped steak dinner itself was awesome. So tender and delicious! Lime pie has a cornflake and buttery crust, fantastic. Cheesecake was so creamy, and just the right amount of pumpkin. This place jumped right up on our list of Minnesota supper clubs, and though this place is a supper club + more, it still gives the supper club food, feel and experience. Chef Jeff - the owner, culinary chef trained in NYC, brings a personal touch by walking around and introducing himself. Service was fabulous as well. We love this place and hope you do, too!!

We went for a little dinner after golf, and decided to go to the Depot. The Depot has a very nice special list and very unique dishes that are pretty rare to see. The good: the quantities are nice sizes, the fries are good, they switch up their specials often. The bad: the fillet burger was a little over cooked for medium, but still edible. The bacon looked like it was cooked twice. I would ask for a little pink or medium rare next time. The Korean fried rice was really flavorful, but probably too much flavor to rice. I took most of it home and added 4 to 5 cups of jasmine rice, which made the dish Nice, subtle, and tasty.

The food is great, I've never had a bad experience except the cops pulling up on a car and surrendered it and probably arrested them. The service is great and they have trains you can watch through the window. It's really quiet and nice and the ambiance is perfect.

De-to-the-Licious I was pleasantly surprised when I tasted their fried fish especially after I had the award winning crab cake appetizer. I'm in Maryland area which is known for crab & I should have known better but had to try it since it was marketed as best ever. I had great service & enjoyed my meal. Walleye fish dinner was amazing, flaky, hot, seasoned well with just the right crunch. I will definitely return for more & this time with my tiger sauce.

So nice to sit outside on their patio. First time here for us. Good drink options and pricing. Bloody Mary was awesome! Food was excellent and service was outstanding from Erica!!

Food is always great! Intend to always order the same thing as a creature of habit, but when I do try new things I am never disappointed.

Good food. A little on the spendy side. Huge menu. A bit of everything on it. They do a great job of getting food out quick and hot.

Not so great food with not so great service. Steak had a large piece of fat running through it making it impossible to cut.

We came here for restaurant week and had a very good experience!…read more Our server was great. Very personable and present without being overwhelming. The ambiance was very nice too. The place was very busy and had a good energy about it. I had the Jambalaya, which had chicken, sausage, and shrimp. It was pretty good and had a nice spicy kick. A good portion as well. Girlfriend had the shrimp etouffee with grits. It was nicely blackened and on a big bed of grits. Also spicy. Friend had the original lobster roll. He was surprised it came on Texas toast and not a roll. But he really enjoyed it. The dessert was a sinlme but delicious Cookit with ice cream. I recommend for restaurant week. And if you like seafood in the form of things like the lobster roll or shrimp etouffee that you don't get other places. I thought the jambalaya was fine but unremarkable. Not pictured here was the lobster mac and cheese. Which was only a small appetizer and I thought underwhelming (also, I don't like corn).

Smack Shack knows seafood, and the Seafood Paella proves it…read more The Seafood Paella arrives packed with perfectly cooked shrimp, clams, mussels, smoky sausage, and saffron rice that's loaded with flavor. Every bite brings something different, and the fresh seafood really shines without being overshadowed by the seasoning. The portion is generous enough to share, but you probably won't want to. The atmosphere is lively, the seafood tastes fresh, and the kitchen clearly pays attention to presentation as much as flavor. If you're looking for one of the Twin Cities' best seafood dishes, this one belongs on your must-order list. Fresh, colorful, and packed with flavor--Smack Shack delivers every time.

We had a group of seven adults and a baby, and when I called late in the afternoon, they were able to accommodate us at exactly the time we desired. From the moment I pulled up, I had a good feeling. The exterior has that historic charm, and inside it's beautifully updated while still keeping the character of the building. We were seated in a semi-private room overlooking the dam, which made the whole experience feel even more special. The service was fantastic - attentive without being overbearing - and the food absolutely delivered. Our table ordered a variety of dishes, from the smash burger to salmon and rice, shrimp, steak, and even the French onion soup. Everything was spot on. And I have to mention the dirty martini with hand-stuffed blue cheese olives... incredible. Every single person in our group enjoyed their meal, the drinks, and the atmosphere. Highly recommend - this will definitely be our go-to spot the next time we're in town.

The service was alright. It took some time to receive some items, but they were very friendly. For an appetizer, the Asian plum wings ($14) were ordered. There were eight wings that were of good size. They were cooked appropriately and had a nice crunch. The sauce was interesting as it had a soy sauce flavoring with a spicy factor with a little bit of sweetness too. For my entrée, I had the 8 oz. Viking steak ($29). It came with a side, green beans, and bread. I chose a house salad for my side which was an added charge. The salad was alright, onions just cut too large, and not really a lot of bacon present. The bread was okay. The garlic butter was appetizing. I ordered the steak medium rare and that was how it came out for the most part. The steak was flavored nicely, but some parts were a little tough. The green beans were tasty and pleasant with the butter used. Will I go back? I would, yes.

For some background, Timber Lodge was a steakhouse my family used to go to all the time in the early 2000's (specifically the Fridley location - RIP), so there's a lot of nostalgia when I think of this place. Owatonna is quite the commute from Saint Paul, but I thought it would be worth it for a Father's Day surprise, as this restaurant chain was special to my dad and I. I made a reservation in advance and had specifically requested booth seating. When we arrived this evening, the front desk let us know it would be a 15 minute wait for our table, no problem as we arrived for our reservation 15 minutes early. My dad and I sit at the bar, wait 5 minutes for the bartender, get our drinks, and then another 15 minutes later someone comes to seat us. My dad paid out the bartender and then walks with me to our table. The host seats us at a 4 top regular table - my dad asks if we can be moved to a booth (as my reservation requested) - the host lets us know that there are no booths available...but there are at least 8 booths open with no one seated. We accept that we'll have to sit at a table, but then wait 15 minutes and no waitress even acknowledges us. At one point, an older woman asked my dad to get out of his chair because of the way the floor plan was set up, she couldn't get past otherwise with her walker. At this point we had enough. What should have been a lovely meal with my dad to celebrate, ended up being a waste of an hour drive down to Owatonna. If there's an immediate takeaway, the staff should be more attentive and communicate better with their patrons. Will not be back.
