Sweaters in the fall and spring, quilts and duvets in the fall - you get it. For a change, I was looking for someone to do alterations on a pair of jeans (at a great discount at Nordstrom's sale, btw) without forcing me to drive all the way to Natick - twice - to take advantage of a free service at Nordstrom. You understand, a HUGE discount on the perfect pair of jeans, that pooled at least 5 inches around my feet every time I tried them on, no matter what shoes I tried with them. Finding someone to do alterations in short order, at a reasonable price, and follow the directions? I was 75% sure I had a long trip up to Rt. 9 in my immediate future. And a return trip to pick them up. I did the legwork- went to the googlers, found some names, stalked their reviews here on Yelp, and then light dawned over marblehead - my drycleaner (who was always 100%) had Alterations listed on their website. What to lose? Dropped them off, expecting a week for return, got the text TWO DAYS LATER that they were ready for pickup, and if it hadn't snowed a foot the next day . . . The jeans were done for a more than reasonable cost. The hem is perfect. The customer service at the store in the Hingham Shipyard was off the charts, as usual. I didn't have to pack a lunch and roadtrip up to Route 9. Everything fell into place perfectly, and Dependable was . . .more than dependable.

When I called to ask about this, I was told that it's "normal" for the hem to fall out after some time and that I needed to be more careful with handling the garment. I took the garment back to be re-hemmed at a discount, only for the stitch to fall out again a few months later. I will not be bringing any items back here to be tailored. I cannot say enough for their professionalism, care and competence. The gentlemen who were sent to my home to inspect the damage were kind, careful and truthful about their concerns and my options. For example, I have some delicate curtains that hang in my diningroom and were finished by hand. Despite their warnings, I had no choice but to try have them cleaned. Sal's removed each ring by hand, carefully cleaned the curtains and re-sewed the rings. The curtains look gorgeous with no damage whatsoever. Everything has been returned in perfect condition, carefully wrapped and with no odor. As a side note, I'd had a very bad flood in my home some years back and had extensive mold damage. That was the first time I'd been introduced to Sal's. Their service was impeccable and I was very pleased to hear that they'd be sent out again for this job. I cannot recommend them highly enough. I cannot speak to their prices as their bills have been sent to my insurance company.

Many items on that invoice were not returned! We lost $10k plus of our belongings not even counting the dozens of items damaged and severely stained. Horrible!
