Despite good detail dental work, I stopped coming to this facility years ago because AFTER paying my bill in full of $5000. (Crown work) according to their "dental treatment plan" they said I owed an additional amount. I found it odd because I had paid everything already out of pocket. Fast forward, recently my new dentist was out on maternity leave. I was at a time crunch. Therefore, i returned to Denton Smiles and saw Dr. Tran again. They supplied me with a complete and detailed "treatment plan" including x-rays. Again it was several thousand dollars. I'm a senior citizen living on a small fixed retirement pension, but am serious and responsible about paying my debts even if I use credit cards. Again this time I paid punctually 2 large payments over a few thousand. Again, after a month of having paid my bill (treatment plan") and dental work was completed, mysteriously i was billed an additional $200. dollars. Now every week i receive a harassing text of owing $200. I have called, I politely emailed and texted. But no answer or response. I requested a meeting with their accounts manager to show them a copy of their treatment plan and the payments I made that paid it in full. No response not even out of courtesy! Total I paid this practice $10,000 ! All to Denton Smiles. Their behavior can put responsible paying patients with good credit into a debt collection agency that ruins their credit! CAUTION: This facility does not keep their word nor respects their own treatment plans and bills they provide to patients. Even when you pay in full out of pocket and clarify insurance doesn't cover it (which they already know) they'll look for a reason to bill you a month or two AFTER you've already paid your bill in full. These are deceptive practices squeezing additional money out of responsible patients and worse ruining one's good credit. My wife made an appointment for retainer molds and was quoted around $250 per retainer--the same I paid a little over a year ago. My retainers broke after six or seven months, and when we asked if they could fix mine while my wife got a new pair, they said they couldn't without charging again, which was fine. On the day of her appointment, my wife called to mention there was cement on her teeth from a previous retainer and asked if it could be removed before taking molds. She was told maybe, but the doctor was very busy. Then she was quoted $100 more per retainer--$350 each! When we asked why, they said prices had gone up since I got mine, even though my wife was just quoted $250 a few days prior. I made an appointment to get molds for retainers and was quoted around $250 per retainer. That's what my husband was charged a little over a year ago. My husband's also broke after about six or seven months. I asked them if they could fix his while I bought a new pair for myself and they couldn't help us without charging again which I said was fine and I would just get a pair for myself. I called the day of my appointment to let them know that there is cement on my teeth from a previous permanent retainer that had broken off and ask them if they can grind that off before taking the molds and she said " maybe but the doctor is very busy". She also then quoted me about $100 more per retainer! I told her I was just quoted around $250 not around $350 and asked what changed. She said the price had gone up since my husband got his retainers. I was just quoted a couple of days ago though?! Also for the price to jump by $100 each?! This is shady. I have never had a bad visit here and going to the dentist this means a lot! Both dentists are very professional. No one tries to push any service on you that's not needed (I've experienced this in other dentist offices). I'm very particular and sensitive about my teeth and have always been nervous looking and going to the dentist. When I moved to Denton this was the first dentist office I visited and I've been going ever since ~4 years. They were featured on "Best of Denton" and I can see why. Anytime I have needed work done the insurance part is explained very thoroughly and there are no surprise costs during my visits. Ysennia is very nice and gentle with cleanings. She also has a lot of knowledge about tooth care and has given me suggestions to help my dental health. A plus part of the visit is getting a "goody" bag at each visit. It comes with a toothbrush, toothpaste, floss and now a mask. COVID protocols are taken seriously here and they strive to keep everyone protected. Upon visits we are asked to wait in the car until it is our time to enter the exam room. During my visits everything is wiped down and I don't cross paths with the other patients. This business was already pretty sterile during my visits, but even more so now since COVID. read more

Not a fan of the dentist in the slightest due to childhood experiences, but everyone at Denton Smiles is top notch and erased my fear completely. All procedures were explained to me in detail and I was never made to feel uncomfortable. Tried calling twice today and got a message that the office is closed when they are supposed to be open until 5pm. When we first started going here, I got my teeth cleaned at a regular appointment and they did a deep cleaning around 1 tooth, yep just 1, then said the insurance wouldn't cover it and I had to pay for it. I have been a patient for a couple years with this practice and brought my 20 month old for her first dentist appointment this morning. When we called to make the appointment, we confirmed they accepted my wife's insurance and was told they would follow up if there were any concerns. We get to the appointment to learn that their office wanted to charge us $150 to look at my daughter's teeth. From my understanding, this appointment was an introduction appointment for a toddler to get them comfortable with a dentist and not a complete cleaning. The receptionist didn't think that it was odd at all for them to charge us that much for a co-pay for an insured patient. After making an appointment to have my teeth cleaned I showed up, filled out paperwork, had a couple of people look at my teeth and no one ever cleaned my teeth! They told me that the first appointment is a "new patient" appointment and a teeth cleaning must be scheduled separately! What a colossal waste of time!! They also recommended a deep cleaning (with an out of pocket cost to me of hundreds of dollars) and refused to do a regular cleaning (which would have been covered by insurance). Sooo, I was stuck in Denton for work and needed to kill a few hours before I returned. After thinking up ideas on what to do, I figured I should do something i've been putting off for a while. That was cleaning my teeth. I did a little googling and found Dr. Vo's office near by. I gave them a call to see if they wouldn't mind a walk in. Surprisingly they welcomed me in on super short notice. I swing on in, after a short wait and the typical information forms. I was on my way to get cleaned. Luckily for me and my gums they were gentle and made sure I was comfortable with the scraping and drilling. It was a great experience. The story of how I first met Dr. Vo started when I was recommended a crown by a dentist in Lake Highlands (where I live). She insisted that the crown was absolutely necessary that that there was no other option before the inevitable extraction of the tooth. I almost considered it but she quoted me over $1600 for the crown and being the skeptic that I am, I asked some other physicians that I work with if they knew a good dentist that I could get a second opinion on. Well, one of them referred me to Dr. Vo and at first I was hesitant to drive from East Dallas to Denton but I am so glad I did. Not only did Dr. Vo quote me considerably less (almost half my original quoted cost) but he actually did not think a crown was necessary and actually recommended against it. He gave me a (completely painless) filling and sent me on my way and I've been happily munching since then. The story is long but it just goes to show that Dr. Vo is a conservative, honest doctor that isn't trying to squeeze every last dollar out of you. After graduating from high school, I have to admit that I've been a little lax with my dental care. I never made it back home to visit my dentist during college, so I depended on my trusty toothbrush and mouthwash to help me for the next 10 years. Well fast forward 10 years and now I have a toothache that had been bothering me for a few weeks. I kept taking Advil but decided I needed to visit a dentist to take care of my needs. A co worker gave me a recommendation and told me to visit either Dr. Vo or Dr. Tran. He said it didn't matter who you see because both doctors are awesome. I made an appointment and was seen by Dr. Vo. He has incredible bedside manner and he made me feel at ease. I explained that I hadn't been to a dentist in 10 years and he didn't reprimand me or judge me because of it. I ended up needing a root canal and was pretty nervous about it. Dr. Vo gave me the laughing gas and put my mouth to sleep without me feeling anything! Thirty minutes later, I left the office feeling very relieved that my tooth was taken care of. I had a great experience getting a cleaning and exam. The hygienist was quick and did a great job. Dr. Tran was friendly and gave me thorough attention. What meant the most to me during my visit was Dr. Tran leaving during our talk to check my x-rays on a different monitor, because she didn't like the tint of the one in the room. It showed an attention to detail, and a level of professional pride, that made me thankful to be in her hands. I've had at least 5 different dentists over the last 30 years and so far Dr. Vo and his staff are awesome! Dr Vo introduced himself and told me about his kids and his family. He gave me 7 ( yes 7) shots in my mouth and was very gentle and genuinely concerned about my welfare. They are open on Saturdays so I don't have to take off of work which is a big plus for me. He has Netflix on the ceiling and let's you pick what you want to watch to take your mind off your mouth He got me hooked on Orange is the New Black- damn him. Lol I went home me had to watch the whole season. My daughter was with me- I was a bit anxious about her being present- she's 8 and does not do well with blood or seeing her mommy being "hurt" but the receptionist hooked her up with cartoons in the front, gave her a cold bottled water and let her play in their treasure toy chest. She got sucked in to the two arcade games in the waiting room and was actually upset with me when it was time to go. After my first visit the billing lady checked/ then double checked my insurance. Then she calculated and then again recalculated my billing charges in front of me so I knew exactly what I was going to be billed and paying out of pocket at each visit for the different services and procedures. I went here for a teeth cleaning when I first moved to Denton about 2 years ago. My first impression was that the receptionist at the time was rude. However, the best part of the experience was the hygienist who I met next. Although she didn't look professional, she was very friendly and good at her job. Then, I met Dr. Tran. She was very prickly and unfriendly. I thought maybe she was just having a bad day. She seemed miserable. She did blandly compliment the white color of my teeth (while talking to herself not me). Then, she started spouting off anything imperfect about my teeth in a very cold way, though she did warn me beforehand. She noticed that I had one molar missing. I explained that it was due to a problem with my wisdom teeth surgery. Her response...deadpan "That's sad." Why would you say that to a patient? My teeth are very healthy, but thanks for making me feel bad about one missing molar. Things went from bad to worse-she waited until the very end of my exam to say that I had a cavity. The hygienist's eyes bugged out of her head in disbelief. During the cleaning the hygienist had kept telling me how great my teeth were. Dr. Tran didn't show me the cavity (X-ray, close up, etc) or explain anything, but said I could wait 6 months to fix it if I wanted. She also said she could fill in a very slightly receding gumline on a tooth the way you would a cavity. When I got my paperwork she listed two cavities. Because she wanted to fill the gumline of one tooth she was misrepresenting that as a cavity. I've never been back, but i've had regular check ups elsewhere with no problems and NO cavities. Makes me highly suspect of this place. read more

I chipped some bonding on a front tooth. They made me pay $75 just to bring me back and take a look and take one picture. Then they proceeded to charge me an additional $300 plus dollars before they would do the 10 min fix. I definitely felt taken advantage of because I needed that chip fixed. This is THE BEST place for children!! My daughter who is 9 was treated amazing!! She had a tooth pulled and didnt even notice it was being pulled, she didnt even feel the needles to numb her mouth. She was so happy, gave us 2 thumbs up towards them right after her tooth was pulled. They treat her so kindly and when talking to us the Dr made sure he didnt say anything "scary" with her around so he would whisper it to us. We were given choices on what we could do for her.
