I took my Singer Simple machine in because it kept breaking needles and making a clunking noise. It only took the technician a few minutes to determine that it was the needle causing the problem. Amazing service!! Just brought in my sewing machine because I was having an issue with the bobbin thread and they took it apart and showed me the issue! While we were waiting they gave me a lot of helpful sewing tips to understand my machine better because I am still learning on it. We tested it out many times with different stitches and now I feel like I have learned so much more. They are offering sewing and Serging classes soon and I am definitely going to come. My machine was reeeeeeeally unhappy with me. I tried everything on the internet to fix the problem- the upper thread was bunching and jamming and knotting and OH MY GOD. Changed needles. Nothing happened. Re-threaded. Nothing happened. Took out the throat plate, dusted, nothing happened. I had a metric crapton of work to do so I finally bit the bullet and looked up sewing repair shops in the area since I'm not in Austin and close to All-City Sewing Machine anymore. I decided that even though the better-reviewed shop was in Lewisville, I would check out the Denton Sewing Center since it um, wasn't an hour away. Long story short, I was in and out in 20 minutes and they didn't charge me since mine was a quick fix. I actually really want to go back and check out what they had for sale- they had a ton of sewing accessories. The shop was clean, well-lit and the staff was courteous and knowledgeable. I'm a intermediate quilter who was looking to upgrade to a nicer sewing machine. I live in a small town an hour north of the Dallas area and recently drove there with the intention of looking at and comparing different machine brands. The first store I went to was in Plano (CompuSew). My experience there was horrible (see my Yelp review). My next stop was Denton and the Denton Sewing Center. The saleswoman (Andrea) could not have been more helpful. She was very knowledgeable and showed me three different brands of machines that are designed for quilters. She compared features, demonstrated the ways things worked and then let me sew. Bottom line: I bought a Janome machine. I can't recommend these folks enough. I could not figured it out in working with my Baby Lock that I got for my birthday and she kept on and on with me till I got it down pack in my brain.
