Dr.Ayoubi is simply the best! I would be hard pressed to say that any other dentist would offer such a warm & pleasant experience as Dr.Ayoubi and his wonderful staff have shown me. Unfortunately I've had a few dental emergencies during the past few weeks and Dr.Ayoubi made time to see me even though he was fully booked! The kindness shown to me by his front office manager Laura and his dental assistant Dee is beyond special & they always make me feel comfortable and at ease from the moment I walk in the office. The dental hygienist Keisha is a gem and her gentle and caring manner matches her personality and shined thru every moment I was in her care. Dr.Ayoubi's patience,kindness, warmth and down to earth personality truly warms my heart. He located the reason that I was having a dental issue and rectified the situation immediately! The technicians and the dentist are funny and extremely friendly. I can't believe how much they remember me each time I come in. They have very up to date technology (each chair has an x-ray camera) for very fast routine cleanings and checkups. They really get you feeling nice and clean and let you know if there are any issues and what your options are. Been going to them since my first job which was near there, almost 6 years ago, and I always LOOK FORWARD to it. Yeah, they are awesome and take most insurance with no co-pay either. Overall, I don't think I'd recommend Dental Pyramids or Dr. Ayoubi. It's puzzling how these kinds of places stay open and don't consider the way they treat patients or the fact that patients will share their experiences. In any case, I hope my experience helps someone make their decision when considering the office. Firstly, I will say that the front desk receptionist was lovely and was very helpful in getting me scheduled for a cleaning. When I came in for my appointment, I was quickly taken back after completing some paperwork and met my dental hygienist. She was perfectly conversational at first. However, my first concern was during the X-rays which they took. My dental hygienist placed the mechanism (which you have to bite down on) in such awkward and painful ways in my mouth that I began to worry about how the visit was going to go. Granted, I've had plenty of dental X-rays during exams and they're not ever very comfortable but this was actually painful. What bothered me the most is that she never inquired if I was bothered or in pain. I suppose I could have also said something but I decided that I was being a baby and kept on with the visit. After the X-rays, she began to clean my teeth. This was the most disturbing part of the visit as I felt my hygienist was actually very rough and frequently pinched my gums with her metal instruments which resulted in a lot of pain for me. I would make audible noises as she worked but she did not stop or inquire with me as to how things were going. She definitely seemed inexperienced with the way she moved throughout my mouth and cleaned my teeth. Also, while I was glad to have the cleaning over (after about 20 minutes) I was also very surprised that she didn't clean my teeth as thoroughly as they've been cleaned during other cleanings I've had. I generally was very unimpressed and upset with her bedside manner and had almost no confidence in her experience and ability. Then Dr. Ayoubi came in and began to examine my x-rays and my teeth. He actually noticed that my teeth were not as clean (as I suspected) and instructed the hygienist to go back and clean a little better some of the teeth in the front of my mouth. He then was very crass with me and had some very awkward comments to make. I have a tooth that was bonded over 17 years ago in the front of my mouth and have had it looked at every year during my dental visits to ensure it's still healthy and isn't a problem. (I've also never even had a cavity!) When Dr. Ayoubi looked at the x-rays, he began worrying me by blurting out different dental terms that I was unfamiliar with and told me that I would need a root canal. He told me that it was only a matter of time before I'd bite down on something and the tooth's bonding would come off. He was also slightly patronizing by saying, "I can't imagine I'm the first person telling you this." To be honest, he was -- and he wouldn't stop as he said that I would likely call them one morning needing them to help me fix my tooth by performing a root canal. The fact may be so that I'll need a root canal one day and I'll be fine with having one done if that's what I need but I was so put off by the visit at Dental Pyramid and with the inexperienced hygienist and Dr. Ayoubi. He has a lot to learn about treating patients with dignity, care and respect. I can't imagine that I'm the first person to tell him that. =) read more

*BE AWARE* I had been experiencing some tooth pain and needed to find a dentist that was convenient for me to visit in the NYC midtown area. I saw Dental Pyramids was close by so I decided on scheduling an appointment and visiting the office. Before I got to meet Dr. Ayoubi they sat me down in a chair and proceeded with a cleaning without my being aware but since I know it is a for profit business I played along. I became upset because after the procedure I did not get to see the dentist for my pain--which was my reason for visiting--and the assistant had me reschedule for another visit. Wasted my time and had to live with pain for another week. When I finally got to meet the dentist he had me pretty anxious after he told me a laundry list of procedures I had to do but he reassured me that since I had good insurance he will take care of it all. I became very skeptical as he started to move fast on working on multiple teeth without my knowing and informed me of what he did after the fact. He actually said that he did not operate on the tooth I came in for because he felt another tooth needed attention, mind you this was post procedure that he felt it was appropriate to inform me of this last second change. My agitation grew but the last straw was when he asked me which type of filling I wanted. I asked him for pricing and he seemed to be pushing the more expensive of the two; he gave me a range of prices and when he saw me hesitate in choosing he told his assistant to continue the procedure. That is when I told him I want to research my options and shop around. I asked a few dentists for pricing and one actually told me that he could only dream of charging his clients prices that were quoted to me by Dr. Ayoubi. A very suspicious practice that he has is his requirement for me to sign a blank, unfilled procedure sheet PRIOR to sitting in the chair. I thought that he could pretty much check anything off after I left. I decided to move on and when I called for my X-rays to be sent to me Dr. Ayoubi told me I never paid for the molding so he sent me to collection and screamed "SEE YOU IN SMALL CLAIMS COURT" before he hung up. TL;DR: He charged me for a procedure I never agreed to take on and sent me to collections in less than a month. He is astronomically overpriced compared to other dentists and he uses used car salesman tactics of pressure selling. His ability to steer around pain is limited--as he was operating on me he said "every time I touch this area you seem to feel pain" he then continued to pry as I was flinching in pain for the whole procedure. read more

Everyone at this office has been very warm and welcoming to us, from the front desk staff to the technicians to the dentist himself. Dr. Ayoubi is super friendly, explains situations clearly, without making you feel bad or trying to perform unnecessary procedures. He is respectful and patient. He worked on both myself and my partner, telling us when it would be necessary to perform a procedure vs. watchful waiting to see if intervention needs to happen down the line. I've had a string of bad dentists, but now that I've found Dr. Ayoubi, things are much better. For me, my greatest complaint has been most dentist offices make me feel bad about having crappy teeth. While Dr. Ayoubi will plainly tell me how my teeth are fairing, I finally don't feel like a crap ball when I leave my dentist's office. Secondly, while my dental work is still new, my gut tells me that the work is quality. The front desk service is great and making an appointment is easy. Wait time is not bad at all. Equipment, cleanliness, and technology are up to par. Dr. Ayoubi is very nice, friendly and tries very hard to be funny, which I appreciate. read more

I read all of the reviews on yelp and gave this dentist office the benefit of the doubt before I visited. I would like to share my experience with them. Before I made an appointment, I asked them specifically if they took my insurance and if it would cover a cleaning. If they hadn't told me my insurance would cover a cleaning, I would not have made the appointment. The cleaning was fine. I had another appointment scheduled but got busy at work. So when they called to confirm I said I couldn't make it and would get back to them. The receptionist mentioned off hand that they had not received payment from my insurance. I got a letter a week after from my insurance company saying they had paid the bill. A week after that I got a nasty letter from this dentist office saying my insurance company had not paid them and if I did not pay they would send the bill to a collection agency. I called them and told them my insurance company had paid the bill and I would not be making another appointment with their office. They induced me to make an appointment by saying my insurance would cover a cleaning and if it didn't they expected me to pay the full bill out of pocket. read more

My first time to a dentist, I had 8 cavities. Still, this visit was the worst I've ever had. I had a bonded tooth completely mangled during a cleaning by an extremely unprofessional, careless hygienist. Afterwards, Mr. Ayoubi acknowledged the damage but said we'd have to make another appointment to fix it. He then proceeded to make racial and ethnic slurs during his entire examination, during which the hygienist could not contain her laughter. After a dozen attempts at scheduling a follow up to fix the damage done during the cleaning, I finally got an appointment. During the entire time in the office, Mr. Ayoubi yelled, swore, and did essentially everything he could to maintain his reputation as an extremely unprofessional, untrustworthy, and generally unethical human being. I should've given more weight to his flagging on Dental Care's system and another patient's last words when exiting his office "Don't do it!" He has had multiple complaints filed against him, multiple grievances, and multiple legal actions. I'll be doing the same. read more

Very kind and friendly staff, and dentist is always happy and doesn't try to rip me off , in fact he always gives me good discounts .. Dental Pyramid Center is a wonderful, welcoming dental practice. Both my husband and I have had extensive dental work done due to the fact that we both have periodontal disease. Recently, I was very impressed with the results I received from the latest laser procedures to address deep pockets. This method is so much better and faster than other 'deep cleaning' methods I have had in the past. Not only has Dr. Ayoubi and his staff have provided us with excellent care, they make themselves available outside of usual 'office hours' to ensure our needs are met. We couldn't be happier with this friendly, non-judgemental group of professionals. Like one other reviewer mentioned, their great email and texting services keeps you on top of your appointments (with a final text one hour prior).
