I have gotten no response after 3 requests for one letter of appeal that they supposedly sent to OR. I think they got one bad apple and one unresponsive guy trying to save his *ashtray in there that is ruining it for everyone. My two clients are probably going to end up owing somewhere between $30000 and $100000 just to the State of OR. If they send a referral to the IRS it could be 3 times that amount. This bad apple they have there as confirmed by my investigation is apparantly down with cancer. And while she has my best wishes to get well soon, I would not want to get near the Heat she's drawing down on Checked and Balanced customers.

The IRS informed us she does not have a CPA license. After being audited I reached out to Jen and checked & balanced for help. They informed me they would take care of the IRS paperwork. After receiving multiple letters from the IRS I contacted checked & balanced 3 more times. In which they informed me they "forgot". They have completely stopped responding to emails and phone calls. After speaking with an auditor from the IRS I learned that Jen has been doing this for years. She makes up numbers, isn't licensed to practice, and ghosts clients as soon as they get audited. BEWARE that Jen and her company is fraudulent. Expect to owe the IRS if she files your taxes!

I had a complicated tax issue concerning my mother's estate that was being handled by a CPA. Or,…read morerather, was not, but I would not know that until days before it was due at the IRS. With everything dumped back in my lap and no idea where to turn I called several CPA firms and got crazy quotes of around $1000 to file a 1041 and churn out some K-1 forms. Then I thought about that sign I've seen on 137th and 112th for years; Linda's Tax Service. With nothing to lose, I called and made an appointment to meet up with Logan, an Enrolled Agent licensed preparer. So I knew that he knew his stuff. A few days later we met and he handled everything right away. And for hundreds of dollars less than anyone else I called previously. Give Linda's a try, you will not be disappointed.

Hi, Shelly I'm really glad you responded, because this is a serious issue that needs to be…read moreaddressed properly. I want to start by saying I do not appreciate how this situation has been downplayed. When I came in to have my taxes prepared, the printed documents I was given showed my refund being routed to my old bank account--not the new business account I had clearly requested. I even called to confirm this discrepancy, and I was told everything had been updated correctly and that a new copy simply wasn't printed to "save paper." Despite that reassurance, I later found out through the IRS that the account information was entered incorrectly. Not only was the wrong account used, but the last two digits were also switched. This error caused significant delays and complications with Refund Advantage, and I had to spend additional time trying to resolve something that should have been handled correctly from the start. Because of this delay, I had to postpone a planned move for myself and my daughters, which resulted in me losing my deposit on a new place. This situation directly cost me money. What's even more concerning is how this was handled when I reached out. Instead of taking responsibility, I was blamed. There was no acknowledgment of the mistake, no apology, and no effort to make things right. That level of customer service is unacceptable--especially considering I paid $675 for a professional service that was not executed properly. I requested a partial refund as a fair resolution, given the financial impact and inconvenience caused. I was told, verbatim, to "forget about it," and that I would not be receiving anything back. At this point, I will be moving forward with filing a complaint with the Better Business Bureau and am prepared to provide all documentation, including the printed forms and communication records. I also mentioned pursuing legal action because this situation has not been handled appropriately at any level. I would still prefer to resolve this directly, but the lack of accountability and communication has made that difficult.

Overall, the service is not worth the price tag. I purchased the $775 Mid-Level Associate package…read morethinking that I would get highly personalized industry-specific advice. To kick things off, it took two weeks after purchasing to get on our career coaching call. Little did I know that was actually one of the faster turnarounds through the process. After our first meeting, which I did find helpful and I wish there was more of, it took three weeks to receive my first version of a resume, which unfortunately contained a few mechanical errors as well as sections and bullet points that did not match. After some more back and forth over the next 12 days, I finally received a resume that I could use, though I ended up just making more a refined version on my own. The completed updates to my LinkedIn than took another month, though I will admit my own response slowed after essentially moving forward with the recruitment process on my own at this stage. Frankly, the revisions for LinkedIn also did not make a lot of sense for what I wanted in my target roles and lacked focus. From starting in early July to finishing in mid-October (4 months), we finally finished the process. I do not expect any follow-up from Resume Scripter based on how self-guided the experience was. If there were more opportunities to hop on calls to discuss feedback and strategy beyond the single 45 minute session at the beginning, then I think the experience would have gone more smoothly. But, frankly, I think this team is overworked and handling too many other projects to deliver the client experience suggested by the price tag.

For a business that interviews and hires people for a living, they don't have their shit together. They offered me a position on the spot without checking references, which was a red flag.
