I had a truly awful experience at this dental office. After stopping 3 different staff member 4 different times they continued to take X-rays that I reiterated I didn't want to be charged for because I have already had them taken recently. I was then sent a bill for these X-rays for over $200. Honestly what are we doing here. I was planning on having $2,5000 worth of dental work done but not after the true mess that was my first and last experience with this office. The only saving grace was the pleasant front desk staff. The bigger issue with this office is the lack of professionalism from the young male dentist not featured online. He not only rested his stomach against my cheek the entire examination, criticized me for my eating patterns- saying I likely snacked all day by the look of things which was rude and unnecessary, told me I was lying about flossing and that I probably have never flossed a day in my life when I never claimed to be that good at flossing, asked me if I have a gag reflex while he wasn't doing any sort of procedure that would cause one creating an awkward environment and took extra time to make fun of the way the roof of my mouth was shaped. Truly unprofessional and I left absolutely mortified for how this nearly 3 hour appt went. I listed 2 stars because they were able to get in me in last minute but there is likely a reason they had this opening. I hope to never be treated like this by a medical professional again and hope no future patients are either. That young doc has a lot of learning and growing up to do. read more

This is by far the worst healthcare clinic I have ever been to. I strongly recommend that no one schedules an appointment here. If I hadn't already paid in full, I would never come back. Every single time I have an appointment, I end up waiting at least 30 minutes just to be called back. On top of that, the staff--including the dentist--are consistently rude and unprofessional. There is no basic courtesy: no greeting, no "how are you," no "thank you," nothing. It feels like patients are treated as an inconvenience rather than people. As someone who works in healthcare, I know that respect, communication, and patient care are the absolute basics, and this clinic fails at all of them. If I could give this place zero stars, I would. The absolute WORST excuse for not just a dental place but a business as well! My wife was their patient and was having serious painful issues with a couple of areas in her teeth. Long story short, the process to fix it involved multiple visits that wound up getting stretched out longer than it needed to because she would have an appointment, and they would call the day before, and sometimes the day of, and cancel the appointment because they were "closing." Due to my wife's lengthy work schedule, her time availability was limited, which they were made aware of frequently. So when they cancelled, it was hard getting a rescheduled appointment that was timely in getting the necessary procedure done. I was her emergency contact, and one person would call her at work about rescheduling, and another would call me. And they do not communicate with one another because one would call and say one thing, and another would call and say another. Or one would call, reschedule her, then fifteen minutes later someone else would call to reschedule, and when they were told it had already been rescheduled, they would dispute the rescheduled time, saying they would be closed. We would come in for my wife's appointment, and be totally rude and condescending to her because my wife let them know the inconvenience they were causing with the MULTIPLE last-minute cancellations. They would go in the back and talk to one another and poke their head around the corner and glare at us. Absolutely childish, confrontational behavior. And their records keeping sucks. A couple of the visits, they would come to prep her and say "OK we'll be pulling your wisdom teeth" (which THEY THEMSELVES removed eight years ago) or some other procedure which was not what she was there for. Called us and said they needed our insurance cards because they didn't have them, even though we presented them multiple times for visits. Said our CIGNA insurance had an issue, but we don't have CIGNA, have never had CIGNA. My wife has received emails about dental procedures for other patients of this place. The dentist who worked on my wife.....zero bedside manner. When my wife had her tooth extraction, he kept turning to watch the TV that hangs on the wall at the end of the patient chair for the PATIENT to watch. During his numbing shots, he wasn't carefully and slowly putting the needle in for the numbing medicine like every other dentist I have been to, he was JAMMING it in. And every dentist I've had use that needle on me usually only does like four to five shots/places around the area where the work was needed. For the one tooth my wife had done, I counted over TWENTY jabs. Five of them were so bad my wife came up out of the chair screaming. The empathetic response from the dentist? "There's going to be some discomfort; you're going to have to deal with it." How is this place still in business? I would say the place is clean and some of the staff members are friendly. However that's the only positive I can say. I had an appointment scheduled, when I arrived they asked me to complete some paperwork that took about 5-10 mins. When done I sat there for another 25- 30 minutes waiting to be seen. When I finally got to the back I then had to wait another 10-15 mins as the dental assistant was waiting on a instrument to use that was in use by someone else. I asked if that was the only equipment and she said no but that was the only one that worked properly in that area. Once completed I went to another room for my actual service that I came for. The doctor then proceeded to numb my mouth. She did not test to see if the medicine worked she just began the service. I felt every thing and voiced that, she was a little frustrated at my constant complaining about pain. Which she then administered more medication. Again it did not work properly as I felt every poke etc. I refused to continue on in pain. She agreed and suggested I try again but said to please call if any issues arise as she would be there the rest of the day. Once I left I was in more pain than I arrived in so I did as she said and called the office. I called a total of 10 times ! I never got an answer. I tried again the next day and explain everything and the lady that answered said they turned the volume down on the phone for the remainder of the day and that is why no one answered. I spent a total of 3 hours there and nothing helpful came of it. Not to mention they said they took my insurance but I would still have to pay a substantial amount out of pocket. read more

I had a broken tooth that was unbearable. I called and talked to 3-4 other places and could not get it fixed for minimum 2 weeks away. I called Dental Care Olathe, thanks to a friend that came here a couple months ago and they actually fixed my tooth that same day. I needed a root canal and they were able to start it almost immediately to relieve the pain for me. They were all super nice and helpful and very straight forward on everything they were doing and charging me for and what would be covered. I would still be in extreme pain for another 2 weeks if it wasn't for this place! I noticed they have bad reviews from the past but I don't think those reviews represent this place well any more at least. Especially if you need a quick fix, I highly recommend this place read more

My appointment was at 11 am and since I am new patient I already fill out the health forms online thinking that will help cut the time. I got in there before 11am, checked in no problem. Until it's 11:30 and they haven't got back to me yet. They didn't even apologized or let me know if they're too busy or what. Rushed and careless. I had a tooth that chipped and needed a filling. They drilled it and started to fill it but hit my nerve system and was in horrible pain. I'm someone who handles pain fairly well so I knew something was wrong. They gave me something for pain. They proceeded to seal the tooth but the pain wasn't getting better so they numb me again. They were struggling to seal the tooth so they hurried to seal it quickly to be done. 8 months later my entire filling fell off. Now my nevers are exposed and in pain. This happened beginning of 2021. I received my first bill in December 2022. A bill for $600 and it states my insurance ended up denying it due to something with being late. I have refused to pay the bill due to he horrible work done. I was told by many other dentists to not go there due to how frequently they are fixing dental care olathes mistakes. read more

Absolutely awful. I have taken my children several times (twice a yr) and there is an issue EVERY SINGLE TIME. The only reason I haven't looked for a new dentist is because it's time consuming and hard to find a place with an openings. However, after today I'm completely done. My kids have had these appointments set up for six months. I called a week ahead of time to see if they had earlier openings than what we had scheduled. They did so I scheduled. Go in today and the lady behind the dust tells me they have been removed from the schedule because they no longer carry my kids insurance. I received several emails and text messages to confirm their appointments prior to today and confirmed every time, not to mention I had already spoken to the receptionist the week before. No one called to verify or tell me that they no longer carried my kids insurance with the appointments being in the middle of the day, I chose to not go to work. SKIP THIS PLACE! I have been to Dental Care Olathe four times including my visit today. I will NEVER GO BACK! On my first visit, I was treated disrespectfully by the office manager when questioning her about insurance coverage and my treatment plan. I was treated like an ignorant child. I am a 24-year-old woman, and I had to call my FATHER to come up to this office to be taken seriously. I have never been to a dental office that functions like Dental Care Olathe. They don't compromise on anything and tell you, you need extensive work with little explanation. I was under the impression that a dentist would work with you and your budget to get your oral health taken care of. On my second visit, I had an emergency. My tooth had cracked and it was excruciating. I was told the "exam" would be 95$. I had to call my insurance and hand my cell phone to the office manager, so my insurance could tell her that in fact, my exam IS COVERED with no copay. She reluctantly listened and didn't charge me after conversing with my insurance representative. I finally got back to see the dentist. While begging her to remove the damaged tooth, I was being quoted over a thousand dollars for a crown instead. After insisting I could not afford it. They sent me home without doing anything and no pain medication. I was told to come back the next day if I "really" wanted the tooth removed. I brought my Father with me to my third visit, where my cracked tooth was finally extracted. What is so unfortunate about this place is, their oral surgeon was excellent. So excellent in fact, that I decided I would come back and let them do some fillings. Today, I went inside for my appointment with my Dad again. Upon entering I witnessed another customer complaining about the wait and disorganization of the office. She ended up requesting her children's records so she could also NEVER come back. That should've been my sign to walk out the door. After I got to a chair, I was told they were doing only 2 fillings on teeth we didn't discuss. I wanted fillings on my canine teeth, but when the female dentist came over she says that I can't get fillings on those teeth. That they need crowns all of a sudden.(Previously we never discussed this.) When I question what has changed in a couple weeks, the dentist just walks away without an explanation. I was told that all I needed was fillings on those teeth on my first visit and by the oral surgeon that pulled my broken tooth. NOT TWO CROWNS. They insisted that I "Always" needed crowns". If you question anything they want to do or charge you for, they become nasty. After going back and forth with the office manager, I made the decision to leave. On my way out I was told that "Perhaps you should find a different office because your conversation with the dentist was inappropriate." Because I questioned her? Because I said "No" to her treatment plan? Because I told her I couldn't afford it? Because I have no problem calling my insurance to verify what they're saying? I believe they didn't want a patient asking "why". They have to be used to people coming in and just paying for whatever they say and leaving. I came to this dentist for HELP. Instead, I was quoted crazy amounts of money for extra services I told them I couldn't afford. They offer ZERO alternatives to your treatment plan. This place is not here to help you. They'll say "We work for you". But they really just work to pad their pockets and take advantage of you. If you haven't googled "Dental Scams" I encourage you to do so. Dental Care Olathe bullies patients, inflates your bills, and could care less if they are sending you home in pain. After 7/8 months of on and off service, going through multiple staff changes, I still don't have the right denture. They keep saying it needs to be adjusted several times before it was right however I don't think continuously biting my lip and practically biting the tip of my tongue off are a safe thing. I feel like they don't really care. They got my money and now I'm out of over $600 due to the fact that the denture is useless to me. They also fitted me for a partial that I had said I didn't want and then politely told me that I agreed to it which I did not. The original dentist I saw is no longer with the company so I'm dealing with a whole new group of people. Very disappointing. read more

If I could leave a ZERO that'd still be to kind!! Worst experience of my life! I went in with a tooth ache-AND HAD AN APPT- had 3 walk ins come and go before I saw anyone (1.5hrs AFTER my scheduled appt) and when the "dentist" finally came to my chair he was rude, harsh and my entire mouth was bleeding and in extreme pain from an unnecessary process to the point of crying and forcing him to stop. He never even looked at my sore tooth. Said I needed to floss and use Listerine. The hygienist looked as shocked as I did because it was very clear on the x-ray I needed a root canal but he thought flossing was an appropriate solution. I was treated like garbage and left immediately, still bleeding from the unnecessary "exam" and in more pain then when I arrived! The place was filthy as well. HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS PLACE BE SHUT DOWN!! I should've read the yelp reviews before making the appt. Worst dental experience of my life!!! I went in to get a broken tooth fixed on Saturday afternoon, and after 45 minutes of x-rays, they told me I had 5 teeth that needed to be fixed. I've had a ton of dental work done in my life, including root canals, pulled wisdom teeth, and crowns, and none of that came close to the pain of getting shots and fillings at this office. When it was all said and done, 3 of my teeth were fused together and it looked AWFUL!!! I had to go to another dentist just to fix everything they messed up, and the new dentist said they worked on teeth they didn't need to and didn't even get the decay in the one that did need work. I went in today because I was having some serious tooth pain, and needed a tooth pulled. I didn't have an appointment, but they graciously worked me in, even though they seemed pretty busy. Everyone I saw greeted me with smiles, which instantly made me feel at peace. Which, is saying something, because I am terrified of dentist offices (which is why I was in the situation I was in.) The first face I saw was Cobo-the super friendly receptionist, with the personality and smile to light up a room. My hygienist's name was Christine, who was also super friendly, and made me feel like a friend was attending to me. The dentist I saw was Dr. Ristow. He was super friendly, professional, and made it a point to explain everything he was doing. This was very calming and reassuring to me. Dr. Bristow took extreme care, and was very gentle, considering he was extracting a tooth. Everyone there made an effort to include my mom, who came in for support. The whole process was very smooth, and I would recommend them to anyone. read more

I'm sitting here in the waiting room. Although this is a beautiful lobby,I can tell this place is a disaster. I can hear cussing, gossiping, and laughing going on in the back. One hygienist is having relationships issues, another hasn't ate/or had a break all day, 2 of them cuss like sailors, one seems to be agency or maybe new she's not familiar with their computer system , they lost power earlier, and one of the dental chairs is not working today, one is making threats about what she will do if her check is not correct. I can hear it all sitting in this lobby. Few HIPPA violations as well. Normally, I'm not this nosey but they are so loud, and the tv keeps glitching so I'm distracted by all the "mess" going on here. The receptionist is so unprofessional(she's not rude, just not properly trained). I showed up 20 minutes early. I've been waiting 50 min. She hands me a dirty, oily fingerprint tablet to fill out paperwork. It's so gross, I wish I had a stylus. One patient is leaning against the counter dripping blood, they gave him a cotton ball. Then they wiped the blood off the counter with a dry paper towel, no bleach or sanitizer. I asked if I would be charged for a cleaning, they said "we won't know until after your done." Another lady came in 15 min after me, and she went back before me. I asked why? They said "sorry, we didn't see you. (I'm the only one in this lobby, and both receptionist could've told her that I was next)One of our chairs are broken. You must've made your appointment today," (I made this appointment last week ) This is unfortunate, because I took off work to be here. I've seen them take 10% off the other 2 patients for the wait. The same lady keeps coming out with the same pity speech, saying "just give me 10 minutes. I'm going to clean the room and get you in. " (this the 3x I heard this). I work as a nurse, so I understand "busy". But I've counted 7 employees and 3 patients? Minus the guy that is now in the lobby with me, still leaking blood and touching things with his bloody fingers and napkins. I told myself if she is not back by time I finish this review, I'm out of here(I'm also questioning myself , why have I stayed this long? Runnnn! I guess I wanted to give them a chance to make it right, and be patient ). 13 minutes passed and one of the owners came up to me and apologized, he said that I would not be seen today, but wanted to know "what could've made the experience better?" I explained to him that I took off work , and needed that cleaning before my orthodontist appt, smh. I appreciate him asking, but too little too late. I hate to write things like this, but "people" need to know. I've missed out on time/money dealing with this, unacceptable. This place is not sanitary, please be careful. Beware! read more
