A regular filling includes numbing the tooth with a shot. To add D9215 is called "unbundling" a procedure from the primary filling code. In other words you were billed twice for the numbing shot. This was one of the most uncomfortable dental visits I've ever had. The X-ray machine wasn't working properly, so I had to sit through multiple re-scans. I was already feeling uneasy, and overhearing the dentist next door speak to a patient in a dismissive, cold tone only made it worse. When I realized that was the provider I was about to see, I had a feeling it wouldn't go well--and it didn't. He showed zero empathy, especially toward someone like me who's insecure about their teeth and trying to build confidence again. He couldn't give real guidance--just said, "it's whatever you want to do." My mouth was full of blood and uncomfortable, and I had to ask for water and a cup to rinse. That should be automatic, not something I have to request. He didn't say goodbye, didn't acknowledge me at the end--he just talked to the assistant like I wasn't even there and walked off. The only person who treated me with any care was the dental assistant. To make matters worse, they never scanned the insurance info I sent or the signed form for my X-rays. I had to follow up three times just to be taken seriously. This experience was unprofessional, disorganized, and emotionally draining. I won't be returning. Management (Heather) is impossible to speak with, took 4 months to see 2 dentist that she told me to see regarding my issue! Just to sit here a month with no response back from her! Don't bother with this Dental place! So many other amazing places that truly care about their patient! UPDATE*** Just found out the damage they caused to my tooth just cost me another $256 to see the 2 dentist they sent me to see! Heather (Manager) NEVER told me it was going to be to my expense! I would have never went to see those dentist, she told me to go see! If I would have known it was costing me more money! I thought I was resolving my issue! I already knew what the two dentist told me! From the last dentist I seen in her office! So in the end, she did nothing but cost me more money and now I am pretty sure I am blocked on their mytel phone system! I always have a nice experience (for a dental cleaning) here. The service is nice and welcoming from when you walk in. The facilities is actually quit nice with a fireplace and spacious seating. You are checked in with an iPad which was easy for me but I wonder if elderly need help with that. You update your information and sign off on it Siri your fingertip. My hygienist "V" is super nice and does a great job of explaining and cleaning my teeth. I always leave there with smooth happy teeth that sparkle clean. The down fall for me is that my dentist keeps changing/leaving. I like the one I saw this time and he will remain there and mine hopefully for a while. read more

Was told I had a small cavity and that they were going to schedule a filling. Then I was told that they were having issues and we're going to call me. I was never called. Time goes by and I forget about the cavity and it forms into a tooth abscess.(I had multiple appointments after the initial which I was never reminded of the cavity again.) Now I need to have the tooth extracted. I get that done and I form what is the early stages of Ludwig Angina( a life threatening infection thyroid develops under the floor of your mouth) I need to have emergency surgery after this and my bone graft had to be completely removed to heal the infection. All because they have incompetent schedulers. Never come to this incompetent place they will ignore you until you need major work done. read more

I have been going to Dental Associates for years and overall had decent experiences. This clinic is newer and very bright and pretty. However, the turnover among hygienists and dentists has always been somewhat frustrating. What made me look for a different dentist after so many years was because of how they treat their staff and their lack of proper care to my father. First, there appears to be a pattern of subtle age discrimination towards staff members by supervisors such as Stephanie. She will nit pick and either fire or push people she doesn't like out while looking the other way when her favorites act unprofessionally. Additionally, the way they have treated their staff has contributed to the turnover in dentists I already mentioned-- my dentist for the last few years recently left. I also have friends and family who have complained about the constant changes. Furthermore, they don't provide quality service and customer service. My father has been dealing with an issue with a crown on a tooth for nearly two years and it only recently was resolved after he went to a different clinic. It caused him significant pain and frustration. Nobody really likes going to the dentist, but when you do, you want to go to a clinic that fixes your problem (which DA did not do for my dad) and which has a positive, environment. Finally! A location on the south side of town! This is a wonderful clinic, no matter which location you go, but not having to travel across town to the Burleigh offices anymore is nice. I have had cleanings, fillings and crowns replaced, root canals, new crowns put on and two wisdom teeth pulled, so I have been through the ringer. The only thing that hurt? When they put the needle in to knock me out for the extractions. Most likely, you will get a different dentist each time you go in, but you'll get the same hygienist. If you ever feel like you don't click with either one, you can simply request that you see someone else at your next visit. Dental Associates offers supplementary insurance, as well, and it is worth it. The family rate (two or more people) is @ $105 per year. One time, I went in to renew our policy and the receptionist asked me if I was sure I wanted to do that, as it seemed we already had a "Cadillac" policy. I told her that it never hurts to have extra for the unexpected, and sure enough, within the year, I needed a crown. Paying that extra $105 saved us from paying $600 out of pocket! 57/2014 read more

OK who reviews a dentist? Well I will because I hate the dentist. I. Hate. The. Dentist. I literally avoided going to the dentist for like a bajillion years because I had such a horrible experience with my previous place. I realized that I am an adult now and part of being an adult is regular dental checkups. Ugh. My requirements for a dentist -- 1) have to take my insurance (obviously) 2) have to be relatively near where I live (easy peasy requirement) 3) have to make me not want to crawl out of my skin when I walk through the door (HA! Yeah right, like that will ever happen). I made an appointment and literally began counting down the days. I could not sleep the night before and had terrible anxiety for about a week before my initial appointment. That is how much I. Hate. The. Dentist. OMG why did I wait? This place is fantastic. It's clean and nice and the staff is super friendly and helpful. It is quick & efficient and when I honestly answered the "how long has it been since you've been to the dentist?" question, the tech was basically like, "Yep. I get it. No worries!" My previous dentist would have berated me and threatened to call my mom (no, that actually happened once). I will definitely keep going here -- this place MAKES me want to keep going here. My insurance changed and I was forced to go to dental associates. This place is like the McDonalds of the Dentists. Felt like I was in the assembly line and being pushed from one line to next. Friendly staff but the place is very unorganized. I had chipped a tooth and called for an appointment. Scheduled an appointment just to find out that I scheduled an assessment and had to come back for treatment. My old dentist office would have had it all done in one visit. I get my teeth cleaned, or try to, every 6 months as recommended. After a cleaning I always schedule my next appointment 6 months out. But more times than not this facility has a staff change and has to cancel my appointment. When I reschedule, the times available I need are so limited I cannot get in for nearly another 6 months. I know later afternoon appointments fill up quickly, which is why I schedule right away, but making the appointment is pointless because they can't honor it. I'll start by the positives. The oral surgeon is top notch. I've seen him twice and had fantastic pain free no delay service with exceptional care and pricing with insurance and supplemental. Now, for the rest. I started out a few years ago in need of very extensive long term care. It was great at first. After the first dentist left, I was ok. I've now been through about a dentist a year. Each one wants a new set of everything with a new plan. It's understandable, but my insurance is not free for every exam and xray in a calendar year.. it's a rolling calendar. So new dentists wind up with new oop charges no matter how understandable it can be. In three years of continual work I cant keep a steady payment plan. Everytime I meet a new dentist she is bright eyed and then in 6months to a year shes gone. If you are ok with a revolving door then you wont mind, but I can't afford it. As the years have gone on, I have also been more steadily receiving 'updated' bills where I am seeing more and more oop charges that were 'miscalculated' from the original work estimates from both insurance and supplemental. 20$ here, 75$ there might not seem like much, but its added up and it keeps slowly getting higher. The oral surgeon is the only service I never seen to have problems with. The assistants change constantly too. I've been in suites where the equipment doesn't work and had to be moved. I've had to go back for a chip that was improperly fixed and still have sensitivity issues, and still cant get it fixed because that dentist is also now gone. There are some good aspects from a new patient perspective, but this is not the place to go if you need more extensive, long term work. read more

They want to do the most expensive fix. I had to argue with them for a half an hour to do a filling. They wanted to cap it. They won't do silver caps only porcelain. I needed a tooth pulled which they could not do at this location. So i was sent to a really bad part of town. As soon as i parked i was approached in the parking lot by someone begging for money. Thank god a ploice officer drove by so the oerson walked away. I was talked into buying their supplemental insurance for 60.00 and that my visit would then be covered at 100%. A week later i got a bill for 83.00. Are you kidding me!!! They are a big corporation. They don't care about you only waht they can get out of you. Do not go here. After many years of service Dental Associates has lost my family's business. Horrible customer service experience. In November of 2017 my daughter needed her wisdom teeth pulled. After giving me my pricing, i learned i would have to pay 700 out of pocket. this was after dental insurance, health insurance and the care plus supplemental insurance DA sells to its customers. The work was planed to be all 4 teeth. I payed the 700 dollars and thought that was the end of it. 8 months later in July of 2018 I get another bill for 425 dollars because care plus and other insurance did not cover all of the expenses. If I knew the insurance would not pay such a large amount, the work could have and should have been split into 2 or more visits. Furthermore, waiting until 7 months later to bill me meant that I could no longer make a claim on flexible spending accounts. To top it off, the customer help offered NOTHING in compensation and basically said I have to pay it all before they will do any more dental work. guess what they will not do any more dental work for me.
