I am so frustrated with the billing department, which has no clear answer to my problem. Since my…read more1st treatment in June-2025 they have been extremely slow and incorrect in submitting the claims and then issuing the correct refund. Upon multiple inquiries, the front Desk is saying that I have a negative balance/credit of 991.80, which has been denied by the billing lady. Tried to reach Alex or the supervisor, but they are not available at all. Up until they submit the correct claim (with quadrant information), for my "deep cleaning" to Humana. Looks like the practice, the administration, and the billing department does not care about their patients. I have seen multiple complaints about them in the reviews. Now I am officially contacting the attorney general, BBB, and dental board for this inappropriate action. Dr. Asif R. Shao.

I had to pick a…read moredentist out and not knowing any dentist near me, I just randomly picked Great Expectations Dental Center at Maple Canyon and East Dublin Granville Rd. I made an appointment because I need a cleaning and turns out I needed a crown as well. When I first arrived at the office, I noticed how filthy the floors were. I just didn't have a good feeling about the place. The doctor was ok, but nothing to write home about. After my cleaning, I decided that I didn't want to go back to that filthy place. I called Delta Dental and with their help, picked another dentist in the network that was nearby. I went to the new dentist and frankly not impressed with him. He had the personality of a dead fish. I've been to him a few times and don't feel as though he is as thorough as I think a dentist should be. (I'm not going to name him because I don't want repercussions). Fast forward to today when after having lunch with a friend, I attempted to use a plastic dental pick to pick the food out of my teeth when one of my crowns just popped off my existing tooth. I tried calling my assigned dentist but found out the the office near me was closed on Wednesday's, but he was at his Hilliard office on Wednesday's. I had just dropped my friend off at his house which was right down the street from the dentist's office. By the time I realized that, I was clear on the other side of town and wasn't sure that I could even get an appointment on such short notice, let alone drive halfway across town again. Desperate to get my crown re-cemented, I stopped by the Maple Canton Great Expectations Dental Center hoping to get my tooth fixed. Since I was already assigned to another dentist, I had to call AARP Delta Dental customer service and see if I could simply switch dentist's. I was told that I could easily do so. I did this because there was a different dentist there and the staff was completely different from when I was there two years ago. The place was clean and the staff was incredibly courteous and helped me navigate how to change dentists. The actual dentist, Dr. Jinghua Zhang (She goes by Dr.Gina) just happened to be out front at the reception desk when I came in. She was very friendly and informed me that she just had a cancellation and could fit me in once my insurance was verified. Once I sat in the chair, she examined the area of my mouth where the crown once was and told me that it would be a simple fix. After 15 minutes and $20 later, I was on my way home with my crown reattached and a huge smile on my face. Thank you Dr. Gina and your staff for taking care of me this afternoon! I will definitely return to her office for all my dental needs! I'm never going back to the other dentist.

This was the worst experience I've ever had at a dentist. I…read morehave never experienced this type of low-class treatment before. From the very beginning, everything was unprofessional and disorganized. I arrived early for my appointment and still waited an entire hour in the lobby. I had already told them ahead of time that I had a referral from another dentist and that tooth #3 needed a root canal. When I finally got called back, I waited another 20 minutes. Then the dentist came in and told me they were going to do a couple fillings and a tooth extraction. That confused me because I specifically called and confirmed that I was coming in for a root canal. Then suddenly, they tell me they don't have time to do the root canal that day. Mind you, I had already been sitting there for over an hour and a half. I was in EXCRUCIATING pain my jaw was locking, I could barely swallow, and I was genuinely concerned about my health. Despite that, I agreed to move forward with the extraction and fillings just to get some relief. They numbed my mouth and were about to begin when I realized no one had gone over the cost with me. I had to stop them myself and ask. The assistant then said, "Oh you're right, we forgot," and brought me a breakdown showing I owed $500 out of pocket and that my insurance covered $0. I knew that wasn't right because I had already checked my insurance beforehand. Sure enough, they "forgot" to add my insurance and had to redo it. At that point, I lost trust and decided to only do the extraction. Here's what really shocked me: my mouth was already NUMB, and they told me to go up front to pay before they continued. I asked them, "Is it normal practice to numb a patient and then send them up front to pay?" I was honestly disgusted by how that was handled. A few days later, I was still in extreme pain after the extraction. I had a root canal scheduled for Wednesday, but by Saturday I knew I couldn't wait. I called and begged them to get me in sooner or do anything to help. They told me no because of some "policy" where insurance has to be verified weekly, and the manager who does that only comes in on Wednesdays. I called my insurance company, and they told me Comfort Dental should be able to give me a referral to an endodontist. When I called back to request a referral, they told me they don't give referrals because they do root canals there, but I insisted that they give me a referral because I couldn't wait and then the lady says well I can get a referral if I come in for another appointment which made zero sense because the dentist had literally just seen me and confirmed I needed a root canal. The information I was getting was inconsistent and honestly felt uneducated. So I drove up there in person, in pain, just to try to get help. When I got there, they told me I had to pay $30 out of pocket just to go to the back and speak to the dentist for a referral because they "couldn't verify my insurance." At that point, I was furious. I was standing there thinking, are you serious right now? Thankfully, a dental assistant came out and helped me and gave me a referral but that should NOT have been that difficult. The front desk staff were extremely unempathetic and made no effort to help resolve my situation. One of them honestly seemed like they were not fully present, and I felt completely dismissed and unsupported the entire time. If you need serious dental work, DO NOT come here. This was the most disorganized, unprofessional, and frustrating experience I've ever had in a healthcare setting. I don't know about other Comfort Dental locations, but this specific one was absolutely terrible.

But after 2 appointments with them (a cleaning and a filling), I have no reason to not award them an all-star rating! Full disclosure: I don't have anxiety going to the dentist, it's more of a trust issue thing. Post-college I had some pretty sketchy dentists in my mouth based on the dental providers who took the insurance I had and would cry on the phone to my mom once I was in the safety of my car after the appointment. When I first moved to Columbus, I went to a "boutique dentist" in Clintonville as she had purchased the practice my brother went to. It was an awful experience--she ended up filling a cavity 3 times because of the sensitivity & pain I was having with it. After leaving her practice and paying out of pocket to have the tooth fixed elsewhere, my brother and I later found out she previously worked in an Ohio prison. Nightmares! So I started a new job in March and again needed to cross-my-fingers and pick a dentist who "participated in my plan." Based on the perusal of a few websites, I signed with Herrick Dental--and made an appointment for a cleaning. Although they're in a part of Columbus I do not frequent, their office was easy to find and very welcoming. I was greeted by the office staff and moments later a hygienist took me back to one of the several stations they have in the clinic. Very good first impressions and my great experience continued throughout the cleaning. After x-rays and cleaning, I met Dr. Herrick and it was discovered I had a surface cavity which needed a filling. I felt confident about his diagnosis. (More background: When I was 24, I had a dentist at an Aspen Dental tell me I had 6 cavities that needed drilling on my first appointment--I had never had a cavity in my life. I was home visiting my parents a few weeks later and got second opinion from my pediatric dentist. She said there was not a cavity in my mouth...) Yesterday, Dr. Herrick and another hygienist drilled and filled. They were efficient and courteous. It was a great experience for being at the dentist. So in closing, I apologize for the rant on my dental past, but I think I finally have found a future with a dentist I like. My future is bright and my teeth will be too!
