The guys at Denny's lawn and garden have helped save my bacon many times. I've purchased machinery there and have them help me work with functionality, warranty, parts and service. Just this morning I called because I had not properly clipped the dipstick in my sander and it blew out causing a big mess. The guys at Denny's did not have a dipstick, so instead of sending me down the road, they actually unboxed a machine that was outside in the cold, stole the dipstick from that engine and ordered themselves another one for that engine. I was able to go to work! It's very difficult to have a business in a town like Duluth and try to serve everybody and still make a living. I think the guys at Denny's do a great job and that's where I buy all my small engine stuff. read more

Unfriendly. Unhelpful. I had a mower being serviced, they said they would call the next week. Never did. I called for an update 3 weeks later. They're waiting for a part; but they never asked me if I wanted the part, they didn't know how much it would cost, and when it would be finished. And they treated me like I was the problem for asking these questions! Thats the biggest problem with these guys - they act like the customer is the enemy. Ive been burned twice in 10 years by this place. Never going back. read more

Terrible customer service. Goober that sits on the far left as you enter the door is the worst. First, he's half deaf and can't hear a normal conversation, second, I don't think I've ever seen him move off his stool as that would be too much actual effort. Apparently a shower, a comb or a clean shirt would be too much effort as well. I had loaded up a snowblower (that I actually purchased from these clowns) and drove across town to have their "service" department take a look. Before I could even explain the issue (minor) Mr. Poor Attitude interrupts and says, "We aren't taking any snowblowers in for service." No explanation... no "we're overbooked right now but I can take your name and give you a call when get an opening," or "I can put you on a waiting list" - nothing. Even we I asked if there were any options at all, all I got was, "Nope." and a stupid blank stare. Despite a history of lousy service, I have bought many items from this store over the years including snowblowers, chainsaws and trimmers. I have also had numerous items serviced there. NEVER AGAIN. The last handful of times I get the same guy. His attitude sucks and his professionalism is non existent. I just got off the phone with a competitor and while they have a backlog of service calls as well, they were very professional and booked me a spot in December with a promise to let me know if anything sooner opens up. They will get all my business from now on and will be recommended to everyone I know. read more

Worst customer service that I've ever experienced. Seriously. For example, when you call, they NEVER answer. Then, you get a machine that says they are not accepting messages. When you go in for a repair, they complain that they are months out on new work. I ordered a part in October and still haven't gotten a call back. It's a depressing place. Everyone seems sullen and stressed out. Do I support local businesses? Yes! But not this one. read more

I bought my mower here impulsively when I needed a self propelled mower for my large yard. I wanted to support a local small business and they were close to our house. However, my experience after purchase, has made me regret this decision. Looking to get my mower serviced has been challenging, they are either not available or have been curt. Though it makes me sad to not support a local business, looking back I would have spent my money elsewhere. read more

I have been a customer for many years but that is over today. I had an unpleasant phone call with one of the employees who was snotty and rude on the phone. When I went to the store, I mentioned this call to a person I thought was in charge. Then, another employee chimed in and said that it was he that I talked to. He then accused me of scolding him. I pointed out that I was the customer and he was the employee. I then pointed out that it is the last time I will be their customer. Wow! Such rudeness from an employee. read more

I am a regular customer at Denny's. They are always great to deal with. Fair prices. Repair service might seem a bit slow, but that is because they are the best in town and always busy. I would highly recommend them for service or for new equipment. read more

I've been going there about once to twice a year for past 10 years for replacement parts for mowers and snowblowers, etc. Everyone I've ever dealt with there has been professional and able to help me find and get what I needed. I recently had an interaction with the owner through e-mail and then in person to get a new Ego lawn mower. All inquiries were answered and I was able to get exactly what I was looking for. I could have gone to A home improvement store and gotten the same thing...but wanted to support a local business who actually know the products. It's rare to find someone at those big stores that actually knows anything about the products they sell. The associate at Denny's knew the Ego products well. I'm surprised at the negative reviews...as if the place was really that bad, I imagine at least a couple of my dozen interactions there over the years would have been negative...but that's not the case. Broke down and went back to your store (vowed to never go back, but thought I would try one more time) on Sat 11/4/17 to see if you could repair a snow blower. Absolutely the worst customer service I have ever witnessed. Guy at counter pissed and moaned on how busy he was and said they had a 2 month back log. I've been to Denny's Lawn and Garden several times in my life and spend a lot of money there. I've always tried to buy locally to support local business- even though it's typically more expensive than buying online. Denny's is ALWAYS almost twice as much as online, but I've always bought there. NOT EVER AGAIN. I entered a completely empty store at 3:30pm on 10/10 to purchase a part for my Cub Cadet. After I explained what I needed and supplied the broken part, I was asked for my model number- which I didn't have. I gave my year and model and explained there were only 2 models that year of my mower and that they should see it in their computer. I was told- in the most condescending manner possible- "you sure know a lot about us." I was clearly bothering these 2 employees (in their completely empty store), so I asked for my part back and made it clear- that I will NEVER set foot in the store again, and I'll steer anyone possible away from the place forever. I recently purchased a Gravley mower. I needed to go to Minnesota equipment in Ham Lake Minnesota. Denny's told me they couldn't get the model I wanted. While I was mowing the other day the tension spring broke on the drive pulley. It was a warranty part. My salesman at Minnesota equipment told me there was A recall on a Bad batch of Springs but there was no way of telling which mowers they were on. He shipped me one out but it wouldn't arrive till Tuesday. I went to Denny's to see if they had one. And they did but seeing how there was a warranty open on this part already there was nothing they could do. I asked if I could buy a spring and then return the one when I receive it in the mail for my cash back. They told me no because there is no profit in it for them. So I brought the spring anyway. My mower was stranded in the middle of the field so I didn't have much of a choice. I personally will never shop there if I can help it. Every time you go in there they treat you like you're a nuisance. Someone needs to tell them for every happy customer you'll gain two more. But every pissed off customer you'll lose 10. read more
