I know service is slower in PR. 1.5 hours for water. We ordered food and drinks at the same time. got a few pieces of food. no drinks for 1.5. Our drinks were a black coffee, water and fountain soda. We've been sitting for 20 minutes waiting and a table that was sitting before us has not received their food. Does this mean it's going to take us longer? There are only 2 people I see working for all the tables that have guest waiting to order or receive their food. Update: it took 60+ minutes to get our food. My hubby ordered sunny side up eggs and they were hard boiled on the inside. I ordered French Toast and the knife could cut through it, it was so tough. I feel bad for the two ladies working the guests room taking orders and it appeared they were cooking the food too. There was a large table where they were collecting all the used dishes. Sometimes you just need some cheap eats, and this Denny's delivers what I expected which is decent food at a cheap price. I walked here, and this Denny's is in a shopping plaza. It was pretty quiet when I went and the service was good. They used steamed milk in the coffee instead of giving out creamer, so when I asked for a refill, I got another hot cup of coffee with milk already included, so it was a nice variation. The fruit bowl I got with breakfast was larger than I was expecting for a side dish and had a good mixture of fruit. I also got the pancake puppies special, little fried dough balls filled with Nutella. They were nice and crunchy, large and so sweet and filling I couldn't even finish the bowl. Unfortunately, the other reviews are 100% ACCURATE! I am someone who believes every establishment has good and bad days. However, this location only seems to have bad. My husband and I decided to come here for a traditional American breakfast while on vacation. We never even made it inside. There are a number of issues. (1) The restaurant was NOT full, but they were not seating anyone. (2) The waiting line is located outside with no real organization other than the hopes no one attempts to cut the line (3) the host is rude and short in response (doesn't even bother to say good morning when greeted) (4) multiple tables checked out and were left open (NOT ONE PERSON WAITING IN LINE WAS SEATED)!!!! After 20 mins of waiting and watching no one being seated, we left. We came next door to Las Canarias Bakery. They serve a full breakfast. This place is packed and customers seem happy. Once upon a time, this was the Denny's to go to. Now, it's a sad left over of horrible service, lazy cooks and drunken club goers. I ordered a green skillet, the new promotional plate, and I essentially got French fries. No honestly, they replaced home fries with French fries, skimped on the veggies, tossed on some avocados so I wouldn't say anything and shoved it in my table. This is not the first time it's happened to me, last time I was here with friends, they made us wait an hour to order, then another hour to get our food, on top of having to deal with with waitress' attitude and cold food. AVOID THIS PLACE LIKE THE PLAGUE. If you want breakfast go to Basilia's or Piu Bello they're right down the block, the food and the service is better. I visited this location and at my arrival five employees joking around and hanging around at the host desk like it was a park or something. For my surprise minutes later someone came running from the kitchen screaming "she is back" I'm like what is going on here !!! So when I look over the wall it was the manager of that shift, she came screaming " WTH is going on here " I told you guys to complete some taskings and all of you standing joking around!!! So everyone took off and started working . I'm the only person in the restaurant and took almost 25 minutes to cook one stake eggs with pancakes!!!! I believe someone higher on the chain of the restaurant needs to do some retaining on all managers and crew this location is like a kindergarten!!!! Came here for a late breakfast around 11am on a Friday The place wasn't really packed so we got seated right away (party of 2) after about 20 minutes of us just sitting down waiting for somebody to come over we kept looking over to the front to look for somebody and that's when we seen bunch of server's just in the back on their phones and talking. A little while after our server comes over and tells us she forgot about us. We ordered everything in one go. Our drinks took about 10 minutes to come then when our food arrived after about 30 minutes later, I asked for mayo and hot sauce. I was just about done my meal when I had to ask her again for the Mayo and hot sauce, and she told me that she had forgotten. When it was time to pay, I wanted to use my Denny's account for rewards points. No one seem to know what I was talking about. They brought my phone over to about three different people trying to show them, and when it was time to give the tip paying with card they gave me only the option to give 15% 18% or 20%. The reason we went was because we had heard they served alcohol and had different food items than what was served in the states, and they did. That was pretty cool, I got the dulce de leche pancakes and they were good. The only thing I really didn't appreciate was the waitress; at the beginning I saw they had this ombré rainbow mimosa that looked exciting, so when she came to take our order I said jokingly, "I'll have whatever this is!" and she snidely responded with "We call that a mee-MO-sa". Just as important as food is service. The service here is awesome. The host Antonio was attentive and had a great sense of humor. He makes the welcoming into Dennys very inviting. Our waiter/server Christian was fabulous, great personality and explained all menu options. And to top it all off the food was good. The stuffed veggie omelet was more than enough. Not for you if you're NOT WHITE! My friends and I spend a few days in San Juan and decided to eat here for breakfast one morning. The host asked us to wait. Ok, fine. After 15 minutes, we still weren't seated. But low and behold....a few white people showed up and were seated immediately. Thinking, "Well, maybe they had reservations," to keep from thinking anything negative. (People are more sensitive about being CALLED racists, than they are about racism. But that's another topic.) So...20 more minutes pass, and we were still NOT SEATED! Within that 20 minutes, several WHITE PEOPLE came in and got seated with no issues. Now, my friends and I are noticing more blacks were being told to wait as well. All black people waiting, while whites went in with no issue. One black woman started to get loud and belligerent, and I thought, "Oh well....this is all they need to hear out of one of us so that we ALL can be stereotyped, and they can appear to be "in the right," about not allowing any of us in." We walked away and went elsewhere to eat. Later that day, we had a black Puerto Rican driver to take us around Old San Juan. We mentioned the incident to him and he said, "Yeah, a few times there were some blacks here before you, and they were rude and nasty to the servers and hosts of certain restaurants and bars. So now, they are skeptical about letting people like us in their establishments." Really? I appreciated his honestly, but how ridiculous? If you're gonna judge people, do so on an individual basis. They certainly wouldn't act funny towards all white people if only ONE or a few were acting rude. But they live by the, "One Bad Apple," stereotype only when it comes to blacks. And this was not the only place we had trouble being seated. San Juan is beautiful, but I won't give that place another dime of my money if I have to be stereotyped. I respect ALL people. Too bad "ALL people," don't or won't return the favor. Now I don't feel so bad about Trump throwing paper towels at you rather than doing some real interacting. read more

Was looking forward to a break from the typical greasy Puerto Rican breakfast, so we decided to go to Denny's on an early Sunday morning while on vacation to San Juan. There was very loud latin music blaring from the speakers over our heads, which we asked the waitress and the manager to please turn down. Not off, but down. We couldn't hear each other talk it was that loud. The waitress ignored us, the manager said he couldn't turn it down. (Really!!!!). There are no menus, just a sku code taped to the table, which of course didn't work. We used our phones and went table to table to find on which would scan and finally did. (I hate those, and don't want to be forced to use or even have my phone when I go to dinner. From now on, if that is all a restaurant has for a menu, I am leaving). I ordered a coffee, and the next time I saw the waitress was nearly 40 minutes later. She was confused when I asked if I could get gravy or creamed chipped beef on my potatoes. I asked again if the blaring music could be turned down. She rolled her eyes, and we decided to leave, without ordering breakfast. This place sucks, the attitude of all the employees is bad, the lack of customer service is not what I expect from a Denny's. Went here and they weren't busy. Seated almost immediately. It took 15 minutes for coffee and mochas. The mochas were so bad they needed 5 sugars to make them even palatable. We finally left and asked them to cancel our order when we still didn't have our food after 35 minutes. We ordered pancakes and eggs. Nothing overly difficult or time consuming. No special requests. The truth is the slow service is what deserves 2 stars not the food which is whats most important. I really hesitated to come here because of the star rating but really people need to focus more on the food quality and not the overall experience. If a place is not dirty and the food meets your expectation than dont leave a shitty review because of your lack in patience. I am surprised I have not previously written a review on this place before as I keep coming back here every year when on vacation. They are consistently great for breakfast food any time of the day. The service has always been great whether it was extremely crowded or empty the staff always has a smile on their face when they come to the table. I must say that says a lot about the establishment on how they treat their employees. Great job!! I just had a great veggie omelette it was very tasty:-) plenty of spinach, onions, green peppers, mushrooms, zucchinis, red peppers w swiss cheese. Unfortunately, the poor reviews prior to mine appear to be accurate. Incredibly poor service. It took approximately 10 minutes to get recognized by the waitress. The food was ok. My friends experienced some issues while trying to pay for their meals. The cashier had some difficulty charging the right amounts despite the total price clearly marked on the bill.
