Okay, since its obvious that most people do not go to Denny's because they LOVE the food, i'm going to preface my review by saying my one star is generous in terms of the service at this place, in fact, if I could give it a negative five stars I would. Denny's may not have the best food, but it is a familiar place, one that is always a comfort when you venture out of the unfamiliar, or the place you looked forward to stopping at as a child on road trips with your parents. I also have happy memories of free birthday dinners when I was in high school, hanging out with my friends, having coffee and smokes. well let me tell ya, this Denny's and the experiences I had there has made me never want to stop at one again. So my friends and I were out celebrating my birthday, after dancing and such we decided to drive to the Cameron park Denny's to eat and for me to enjoy my free Grandslam :) Unfortunetly this was never to happen, because it was technically 15 minutes past my birthday, the waitress, who's unsightly teeth made me loose my appetite anyway, informed us that we could not get a free meal if it was even a minute past or she would get fired, she said she would ask the owner, we thought any business owner would for sure see the benefit in allowing one free slam when there were five other paying customers in our party! But to our dismay, the owner said no, very rudely " nope not going to happen", so, needless to say, we walked out of there.......Never again WORST experience ever. read more

Food was delicious and my server, Megan, was outstanding! She was very attentive and personable, yet not overly bothersome. Very cheerful and pleasant. My Honey Bacon Jalapeño Sriracha burger was very flavorful, extremely juicy and a little spicy (I probably would have liked a bit more spice, but I know my tolerance is higher than the average person). I know it's a little odd, but I also had biscuits and gravy! The gravy was a LOT more flavorful than I had expected and the biscuits were killer...flaky yet dense. Mmmm... Terrible Terrible Terrible. Worst Denny's ever. I'm all for Denny's, but this one was just pitiful. We sat for 2 hours, flagging down several waiters. They all said they would be right back but never came. The manager claimed that several waiters had recently "gone on break" even though we saw them walking around to other tables. Used to be a great Denny's, but has recently got a new manager that got rid of some key staff members and messed the place up. We had the longest wait we have ever had for our food at a Denny's, and watched multiple other tables walk out and leave in frustration that they were not getting their food. We asked the new general manager what was going on and she informed us that she had "made some much needed staff changes." The way she said it came off rude and disrespectful towards the old staff, who had the restaurant running a whole lot smoother than she did. I hope that she gets it together so we can enjoy a competently managed and well staffed Denny's next time we come. read more

Good food, excellent service and more! Much more! I eat at this restaurant regularly and have always been pleased with the food and the service. But an incident occurred today, 10/12/2014 that amazed me! I entered the restaurant this morning with my wife and two grand children. One of the waitresses immediately approached me and said that a gentleman told her that a customer had dropped $160.01 on the floor of the restaurant and wanted to know if someone could identify that customer. The waitress identified me by a receipt for a meal that I order at Denny's regularly that had also fallen on the floor, . She told Denny's manager, Ken, about this and he placed the money in their safe. Ken returned the money to me as we were ordering our breakfast. I write this review to point out that the character of the three people who participated in returning the money to me was almost unbelievable! They are examples of an honesty that I did not expect and frankly was not even sure still existed. People like this may succeed in restoring America's belief that we are still an exceptional people! I understand iI ordered only coffee and pancakes, not the most expensive on the menu but she was like "that's it?".... and has had a rude attitude towards me. I am in high school, and because of this, they made me sit in the back of the damn restaurant, and wouldn't even serve us our own water, they made us walk halfway across the restaurant and get it ourselves, the entire staff was condescending and rude except for lileigh, who served us water, even after the manager told her not to, she got a generous tip, but as a whole this restaurant was terrible, I pay so that these people can serve me, I can get similar food from several fast food restaurants for cheaper, this is ridiculous, If this is how I am going to be treated like a kid, I will not pay read more

I have had worse food and service... although cannot remember when. Never have I had a restaurant (or other type of business) handle a complaint a poorly as "Ken" who identified himself as the General Manager. The scrambled eggs they served me were horrible... tasted like warm uncooked pancake batter. I had my companions taste them and they agreed. This is where it gets even worse. I asked to speak with the manager and he had a very bad attitude. When I asked him to write his name down for me he wrote "Ken" on the back of the bill. I asked him to also write his last name and he refused, said he was the General Manager, SLAMMED the bill onto the table, and stomped off. During this entire exchange I was persistent but very civil and his attitude and actions were quite a surprise. Needless to say I will not be back. read more

The toast was saturated with butter .The food was Luke warm and the waitress never came back with a second cup of coffee . Table and menus were sticky and dead bugs on the window sills . The floors covered in food and crumbs. The baby changing table had food and hair on it. The child high chair looked like it had never been cleaned. A hair was on our plate of breakfast. On our way home from Placerville we stopped in here for dinner. We were seated quickly. Our server was very friendly and nice. I had the club sandwich with fries and it was great. My mother in law had a banana split and shared with the rest of us and it was really good. If we are ever up 50 again we will keep this place in mind. read more

I am extremely embarrassed of this place. Not only is it extremely filthy, but the service is very poor. We arrived at 10:05am and didn't get our food until 10:45am. There were 2 other families that came in after us and they got their food before us. They never checked on us (or the other families unless it was to drop off the food) so our coffee was cold and the kids were ready to go by the time our food came. I went to let the manager know the situation and he was completely apologetic and very understanding. I will come back because of how well he handled the situation. read more

We went to Denny's on Friday night. They weren't real busy but they only had 2 wait staff and cooks. The host didn't show. Curtiss and Mary Alice did a fantastic job seating people, clearing tables and waiting on everyone. We may have had to wait a few extra minutes for service but they were always pleasant. They never stopped for a second and made sure everyone was taken care of. Good job. read more

The only reason for four stars is that I won't eat here during the day time as I have witnessed the daytime cooks doing some gross things with spatulas such as stick them in the garbage can or scratch their backs with them never see this when the graveyard cook is on. I think his name is will. He can knock out that menu all the time every steak he has cooked when I've been there always correctly cooked to a nice rare or medium rare depending on how I order it. Check them out but avoid the day shifts cooking at all costs. Night time is the right time. read more

I wish I can give this Denny's ZERO STARS! The servers there are all unresponsive and pay no attention to the customers at all.. My family and I have been dining here for several years and just recently they had a change in managers which I fervently believe is the problem. JAMES should be fired immediately!! He is a disgrace to the restaurant business. JAMES did not even try to apologize to us, but rather argued with us in a aggressive manner. After watching countless Denny's commercials during the 2/7/10 Super Bowl advertising a free breakfast on Tuesday 2/9/10, I noticed one of their commercials offering a free breakfast on your birthday. So my wife and I decided to drive to the Cameron Park location instead of Sunrise Blvd to enjoy the ride through the foothills on my birthday Feb 8th, only to find out that the Cameron Park location does not participate in the birthday offering, even on the day before giving it to everybody willing to stand in line for hours. I wanted to leave immediately out of principal, but my wife insisted we stay. The breakfast was mediocre at best. I will never return to the Cameron Park location. read more

After driving to Placerville from Cameron Park to grab a bite before heading home, (placerville is closer to home) we waited 15 min at the Placerville Denny's before walking out. Drove back to Cameron Park because we were hungry. What a difference! Seated right away, friendly server, asked what we would like to drink as we were sitting down. Came back with our drinks in about a minute, took our order, had our food fairly fast after that. Orders were correct and the special requests were no problem. Not at all satisfied. Didn't catch the waitress's name, but she wasn't at all friendly and rushed us to order as we sat down. Our orange juice was never brought to the table, and the coffee was so full of grounds I couldn't drink it. I highly recommend the Placerville one instead, always great service there. read more

Breakfast is okay. Lunch is not too objectionable and dinner is meh at best. Best thing about Dennys are the late night hours. Otherwise, dark, outdated, kind of dingy and old. Ok so this is not a family friendly place!!! If you have hungry kids they will take their sweet peachy keen time bringing you anything. It took our server 20 minutes to even greet us, then we got our drinks after our food! Oh and then if you order a salad make sure you check your dressing first! And the soup you ordered you won't get until it's nice and room temp. Then I after I explained the whole situation the manager caught an attitude like it was my fault that my server was an idiot!
