While I appreciate the nostalgic aesthetic--reminiscent of old-school diners or even the classic Zeller's cafeteria--the charm doesn't quite make up for the food. I ordered a standard breakfast: sausages, eggs, and fries. It's the kind of meal that should be hard to get wrong, yet it was surprisingly bland. There was little to no flavor--no seasoning, no depth. At places like Denny's, you at least get a bit of flavor and seasoning, but here it felt like something was missing, possibly even just a pinch of salt. Overall, the atmosphere may appeal to some, but when it comes to food and value, there are definitely better options out there.

May 14/2023: Breakfast with my amazing wife…read more This was a decent breakfast. Bacon, sausage, eggs & french toast. All tasted very good & all had the right hot temperatures. What stood out was the server staff. Our server was exceptionally nice & made us feel special. She made a minor error in the bill (charged for a coffee we didn't order) but we decided that it wasn't a biggie, point it out & let it go. She even gave my wife a flower as we left. If you I'm the market for a decent breakfast, go here.

Standards were set high from there on out as we loved Galaxie Diner. We loved the retro look and feel of the place, inside and out. Great, fun sign on the front. Indoors were 50's style tables and seating, very colorful and whimsical. The large murals and smaller art depicting stars and scenes from the 50's were fun and provided some good photo ops. Our server was so friendly and kind, amenable to a bit of conversation which was nice. They accommodated us to split a milkshake between two of us and anything else we asked for. The food was quite good, served hot and fresh. We wanted to visit again before our trip was done but time didn't allow us to. Prices were what you would expect. We would definitely recommend this establishment and will return when we visit Toronto again.

The food came out really quick ( there's only one chef) and they were all super good. I really love Wimpy's diner. The food is just great and service, for the most part, is attentive…read moreand quick. I've been to this particular Wimpy's several times. It has a great classic 50's American style ambiance, complete with posters, paraphernalia and non-working jukeboxes. Some people think that the jukeboxes work because I found a quarter stuck on top of one once. (I don't check the jukeboxes each time I go though, there may be more stuck quarters there). The colour scheme puts you in a joyous mood and the all day breakfast is outstanding!!! I honestly would have given this a five stars, but one of my loves, the home fries seems to have changed. I so loved the old home fries' mix of herbs and spices, whatever it was that made it taste like amazing home fries, as well as the crunchiness on the outside coupled with the soft texture on the inside. Another reason this place does not have a perfect rating is because, it seems, while seated at the back of the diner, did we not get such attentive service. I was dying for a coffee refill or two, but did not get any even after I was done my meal and was eyeing all the servers and waving my hands. So yea, quick coffee refills is really integral to good service. Anyway, about the home fries, the last home fries I had was mushy and just tasted like plain potato. I was not the only one who noticed as my companion also commented on it. I hope this was a one time thing and not a change of recipe!!! I super love the five star breakfast, but everything in the all day breakfast section of the menu is superb. Love the corned beef hash, omelettes, pancakes, still have to try the french toast, but based on the rest, I think they would be superb. Love the coffee, love the free refills. Love the portion. LOVED the home fries, that's now like a plain potato :(, but anyway, I still LOVE this place and I will continue going for my breakfast/brunch needs. One new thing that I guess all restaurants have now and Wimpy's has is the calories listed on the menu. I wonder if this had an impact on the flavour and texture of the home fries. Did they make it more "healthy" but sacrificed the flavour? Or was it just a one time thing, off day for the cook perhaps? I will find out as I will be coming back!!!

As you know, this place is littered with old posters and memorabilias. One thing that caught my eye was a tootsie roll add. Our boys split the pancake breakfast and I have never seen pancakes that large. We chose bacon as the side and fresh fruit. Who eats 5 pieces of bacon! They did not finish that meal. The hubs got the campfire skillet or something or other. He is a big guy and could not finish it. I chose the "light" breakfast. Comes with three eggs, toast and your choice of a side. I chose to try the peameal bacon, which is Canadian back bacon rolled in cornmeal. If you did not know, you're welcome! This was my first time trying peameal bacon and this is a one and doner for me! Anyhoo, there is nothing light about this meal. 5 pieces of the peameal, two pieces of toast and three eggs...dayum! I need the extra light version. It is cash only or debit. No credit, folks. Excellent value for the money.
