We have eaten in many Denny's through the years. Usually the food is mediocre, but at least it's consistent. This location was just awful. I ordered the bourbon chicken. It was like trying to eat rubber. I might complain, but I seldom send food back. This went back. I ordered a different dish expecting it to be a short prep time. It took over 30 minutes. The place was under staffed, but what place isn't? I didn't realize it until later, but likely the chicken was undercooked. There did not seem to be a cook. The wait staff were trying to pick up the slack but clearly they weren't trained. This location needs to close before they make someone very sick. Service was very slow. The server could have suggested another choice if she knew there was an issue with the chicken. On a positive note my wife said her omlette was okay, even though it took 25 minutes. This is attached to the Flying J truck stop. Keep on trucking. There are better places down the road. read more

I'm a trucker stopped here and went in to get some food and they refused to serve me. They said they're short staffed and they had an incident involving the police earlier. But there's still diners and another man just got seated in front of me but I got refused. I can't go anywhere so it's either the gas station food or dennys but they decided I don't get to eat. I returned to give this place a second chance. I can't believe that they are still serving food to people. Food is always cold and not properly prepared. Breakfast is the worse I've ever had and I travel a lot . I was given dried out over cooked sausages. Waitress returned them then only to serve me GRAY IN COLOR COLD SAUSAGES. Bacon was cold and seemed to be sitting since they opened . Then to top it off I was offered a 15% disc to which I already am an AARP discount person. Very slow service. I order online to save me time so when I stop at the truck stop for the night my food SHOULD already be ready. nope. I get there and I wait like an hour after my estimated time for it to be ready. I literally had time to do my laundry and shower and everything. Update: finally got my food. The hamburger is cold, not sure how that's possible with thyme taking so long to prepare it. These are my mozzarella sticks. Me and my husband went in there on a Wednesday night and the service was terrible. We sat at our table for 45 minutes before anyone even came up to our table to take our order. There was another couple sitting at the booth in front of us that had the same waitress we did and I made eye contact with her. Once someone came to our table they were very rude and it was the hostess. We then waited another hour on our food. When we got the food the eggs where raw when they where supposed to be scrambled. Never got a refill on our drinks. The ice was melted. We were stared at, pointed at, and talked about the entire time we were there. One of the girls husbands where there (whom we had no contact with) and she pointed at both me and my husband and told him that he needed to handle us because we where being mean and rude to her. At the very end we were charged $33 and they had the audacity to ask if we wanted to leave a tip. read more

My spouse had breakfast with his cousin at this Denny's and it was terrible. The food smelled greasy and it was old cooking oil used! Smelled just like old cooking grease which you are suppose to throw out not cook with the food and then serve to your customers. What's wrong with this picture. It's Denny's. I don't know what people expect. We were exhausted after a day at Carowinds and wanted a meal to sit down and enjoy without being too expensive. We didn't have any wait on a Friday evening. You could tell they were understaffed because some service was a little slow. However our server was prompt with anything we asked and food came reasonably quickly. My husband and kids ordered breakfast food and their pancakes were very fluffy and looked delicious. The bacon wasn't as crispy as everyone would prefer, but not terrible. I got chicken tenders and French fries. I think the tenders were cooked a little long, they had a slight burnt flavor. But you know what? It's Denny's at a truck stop, dipped it in honey mustard and it tasted fine. read more

I'm giving one star for extremely lack of communication . I placed an order at 5:38PM on 2/25/24 through Uber eats and the app said my estimated food pick up time will be approximately 6:45PM the latest would be 7:35PM. Then at 6:43PM I get a notification stating that the driver named Mark driving a Honda CRV was on his way to pick up the food. At 7:06 PM I called Denny's to confirm if my food had been picked up yet because sometimes the app will show that the driver is there when they have actually already picked up the food and out for delivery but the gentleman that answered the phone sounded agitated and said yes your food has just been prepared and it is ready for delivery. At 7:15PM I get a notification from Uber Eats stating that my order had been canceled and they are searching for the right person to deliver the food. Immediately after receiving that notification I called the restaurant several times and no one answered the phone, I just keep getting a message that says please enter your access code keeping in mind that this is the same number that I called last night and spoke to the gentleman and said that my food has just been prepared and is ready for delivery. The very next day which is today, February the 26th of 2024 at 3:05 PM, I called the exact same number, which is the number that is listed online, and I am still unable to get through to anyone at Denny's to at least let me know why my order was canceled last minute especially when I saw on the mobile app that the delivery driver was actually there at the restaurant just before I had called the first time. I know this is an issue g that I will be expressing to Uber Eats but it's crazy that I can't even get in touch with the restaurant in situations like. My concern also is that once people like me have placed an order and the food has been prepared and then your delivery courier decides to cancel the delivery, what happens to the food? And does the restaurant lose out on the food prepared? It seems to be a no-win situation, and ultimately a waste of food, time and anticipation on getting what you ordered. read more

Wow! If I wanted a teaspoon of soup I wouldn't have asked for some! Ordered a cup, it was only half full, manager said," that's the correct portion". My skillet had 6 pieces of potato, 3 pieces of broccoli, and I think there was a small piece of bacon in there somewhere. I know this is not fine dining, and it's only a Denny's , but this place is horrible! The management is clearly the biggest problem, and that's aside from the fact that everyone who works here seems to be absolutely incompetent or lazy. We waited one and a half hours for eggs - and never got our food. We ended up leaving after the waitress came over and told us they had "lost our ticket" after we had already waited 1 hour for our order. She said they were going to cook the food right that moment, but after another half hour, we walked out the door. While waiting, I saw the cook eating french fries and food off customers' plates that were sitting under the heat lamps. The busser was sitting down in the booths slowing clearing the tables and was scraping plates of food off into the trash within inches of other diners trying to eat their meal. The Waitresses did not seem to know what they were doing, and they had several other diners get up and walk out. All the while, the general manager named "Caesar" was just walking around. If they were short-staffed in the kitchen, he could have been in the kitchen helping, or helping to take food to tables. I saw him do nothing but walking from one end of the restaurant to the other with nothing in his hands. Clearly he thinks his position is that of an executive, and therefore he doesn't need to get his hands dirty while the place is falling apart and diners are walking out the door. Again, I know this is only a Denny's, but the extremely poor work ethic, incompetence, and obvious health and sanitation issues here is beyond the scope of "good" for any type of food establishment. read more

This particular Denny's was not good at all. One of our orders wasn't put in so my husband didn't get his food until we were already finished eating. The food wasn't cooked properly, the steak was cold, the salad was inedible because the lettuce was so wilted, the tomato's was borderline rotten. However the waitress was very nice and so that's why I gave it 2 stars. She was doing the best she could with what she had to work with. I would not recommend this Denny's with the current staff. So we got gas at the Flying J on Christmas Day and thought that we'd get a bite to eat before we reached our destination. Big mistake, apparently the restaurant that used to be part of Flying J is gone and Denny's has taken their place. We both ordered breakfast and I ordered my has browns all in for $3.19. First of all, for all the people bitching and moaning, what do you expect? Yes, the service is sometimes slow. Yes, sometimes the servers get overwhelmed. Know what? THEY CAN'T GET ANYONE TO WORK! I have eaten here many times. It is hit or miss. Mostly hit. Those workers have to deal with truckers who want to get back on the road, SNOTTY customers who are used to watching "reality" TV about restaurants and non tipping people. That being said, it is a good place to eat. The quality of the food is good. I have had issues with quality in the past and the shift lead corrected it herself. There are "managers" there that do not do a thing but get in the way. That's true. THOSE are the people to report and bitch about. thought I'd had reviewed this one.. but it turns out I did on Google and TripAdvisor back when I had an account but I got rid of that I don't like being a TripAdvisor. so I will put one up. located in the Flying J near the North Carolina state line on Interstate 85 approximately 40 minutes from Charlotte North Carolina is the Flying J Denny's at Blacksburg South Carolina this is a very heavily trafficked corridor going all the way from Richmond Virginia clear down to Atlanta Georgia where it ends actually at Montgomery Alabama. this Danny stays fairly busy most of the time it's been one of those ones has been touch-and-go and showing signs of improvement though new cook still learning the ropes the service is getting more attentive they're not as an aloof as they used to be..but the smoke comes before the customer that still hasn't changed? that being a lot of times are out having a cig before they come in and seat you even though they know you've come in it's to be expected anymore welcome to the 21st century and some people still are just working for the check and don't really care.. this one got a remodel about a year ago it's got that nice look of a Denny's classic restaurant now with the old school license plates the hardwood floors gone are the scummy carpets.and it did a really nice job of keeping the floors nice and clean what they can do a little more often those wipe down the blinds by the windows he could see that they haven't been done that often but it is what it is. walking in I was promptly seated I actually got a choice I said I need a plug so I could have a thing to plug in my electronics they said find choose whichever you want I was greeted promptly and got coffee and it was nice hot and fresh to begin with that should give me a couple of minutes to slurp some of it down and then I'll go ahead and order up some grub. they had a party going on in the back I could hear Happy birthday singing some elderly senior citizens because this is a Denny's located in a Flying J and originally had a Flying J Restaurant with like a banquet room you can use..so I savored my hot cup of Joe and perused over the menu and decided I'm going to go ahead and do a waffle slam one of my favorites I like the malted waffle mix they use sometimes better than the flapjacks. so my coffee was promptly refilled which was nice and the waffle came out the only difference was I ordered a waffle slam but it's a new cook he did a great job I asked for soft scrambled eggs did a good job the only difference is when you order a full slam you get four pieces of meat.. a value slam get you two pieces of meat of your choice..but that's okay I just happened to mention that I ordered a waffle slam shouldn't I have four sausage links and she's like yeah you should..so they would brought out to me no problem I had my full meal that I like the quality of the food was good the only drawback was apparently the manager didn't realize more people like sugar-free syrup and they ran out... :-(so I had to have the regular sure but it's okay I just prefer sugar-free I've been having so much sugar free stuff for 10 years I've just gotten used to it.. but I'm holding it get three stars because of the fact that the lack of sugar-free syrup and the window sills and stuff could get wiped down in a little more timely manner.. all in all a good 3 * experience what's to be expected but nothing that really rose above or stood out. read more

I feel terrible that my grandmother, who we drove an hour out to see, had to pay 10$ for my meal since the one waiter didn't have the time to stop at our table for more than 10 seconds. I stood at the hostess podium for five minutes and no one approached me while I observed 5 waitresses standing around the corner of the kitchen carrying on a conversation and giggling among themselves. After standing around for 5 minutes without a greeting I decided to approach the party of 5 waitresses and ask them if I can order something or if they were closing? One of the 5 girls sat me and told me my server will be right with me, I waited and was approached by a different server and she took my order. I ordered a steak MR two sides, and a side of pico de Gallo and also an extra egg white omelette. She said they were busy and it might take a while, I replied that was actually good because I needed some time to go back to my car and would return in 15 minutes, She said that's fine. Upon my return in less than 10 minutes my table was cleared and resat with some one else in my booth. I asked the waitress if she wanted me to sit somewhere else, she said that's fine. I went and sat myself at the booth next to my original one. At that time a completely different waitress approached my table with silverware and a menu and asked what I would like to order. I replied: I'm fine thank you, I already ordered. She got mad, walked away and threw the menu on the ground. At that point I cancelled my order and walked out.
