I found Dennis on Yelp and once again, the feedback held true. I started seeing him in 2017, and now being a new mom, schedules don't always go to plan. He's so understanding and flexible. After having my daughter, he taught me so much about recovery and where I needed to build strength again. I trust him completely and my favorite part is how long of an appointment you get with him. It's not a 15min turnaround... he usually spends 45min adjusting the WHOLE body, but always tweaks the adjustments slightly depending on what I'm feeling that day. (He even let me bring my daughter when she was a few months old and she napped on his ottoman!) Thank you Dennis for being your easy-going self, and actually embodying the passion you have for Chiropractic work. Your expertise has brought huge change to my life (and my family's!). read more

Dennis is a bright light in the universe. Dennis is my hero. In January 2012 I had a very serious swimming accident that resulted in a large skull fracture and concussion, and later on due to imbalance issues, a broken foot and cracked ribs. My healing process has been quite incredible, and I attribute a lot of this to Dennis, who put his magic hands on me every week after the accident for the first months, and now every other week and more if I need him. He began with cranial sacral massage and the usual stuff ... as he works on everything else that needs it. Each time I see him I experience something magical, and as I was writing this I realized that this is who Dennis is. Of course none of this is really magic; Dennis is an extraordinary chiropractor, healer, and man. read more

Oh Gosh, this is challenging because Dennis is amazing on so many levels. He's masterful with his craft, and makes chiropractic adjustments in the flow of other types of bodywork such as myofascial release, craniosacral, and other mad skills that defy description. For me, this makes all the difference. In the past cold adjustments were jarring to my nervous system, now they occur within the context of an hour long body work session. There's no signage on his office, no receptionist, no pretense. It's a cool and funky space, Dennis listens to his own music while he does his thing, and you just get to receive the benefits of his cross-discipline mastery. He is a kind, heart-centered soul, and an incredible healer. This man has reintroduced my body back to its natural wisdom. I'm so grateful. read more

Dennis holds a special place in my heart. He is a lovely person and a fantastic chiropracter who spends time on your whole body. My former experiences, while positive, generally lasted about 10 minutes - wham, crack, thank you ma'am - and were over. Dennis takes his time and he takes a wholistic approach. He will focus on a problem area, but still go head to toe. He also works on tendons and muscles to support the allignment. I love it, and I love him. I walk out of there feeling really, truly good - and that's what going to see a doctor should be. read more

I started seeing Dennis about eight months ago after a re-injury of my lower back. I was leaving the country in less than a week for a few months and I couldnt walk. Dennis got me in immediately and saw me almost daily until I left (and was upright). Since I have returned I have worked with Dennis on a regular schedule and I attribute my ongoing health to him. Dennis is a wonderful person who knows his stuff and takes great care in his patients and his work. Dennis does not fall into the twist and crack category but rather gets deep into the musculo-skeletal system. He is a true healer! (He also plays great music) read more

Dr Dennis Millward is an AMAZING chiropractor! I've had back pain on and off for many years and usually I just wait and it goes away. However, this year after suffering and not being able to walk or sleep comfortably for over a month I asked friends for a recommendation and got a glowing review of Dennis Millward. I visited him with disc fears and worst case scenarios built up in my head from research and the stories of friends. He said he didn't think it was that and his hunch was correct. After ONE treatment I felt so much better. And after just 3 of his skillful treatments and some super smart suggestions from him about things I could do for myself to get better, I was back to my usual strong self. He educated and empowered me about my own health and well being with suggestions about ways I could strengthen my back with posture corrections and stretches. He is very generous and kind. He is incredibly experienced, respectful, responsive, willing and happy to educate you so that you are able to make real changes for yourself in conjunction with his treatments. He is a real healer and educator. Since then I've also had other problems with pinched nerves in my neck and back with radiating pain and numbness through my arms. I've had people tell me that numbness and tingling in the arms requires invasive surgery. I returned to Dennis and he has dramatically diminished my pain and the numbness symptoms. He is incredibly thorough with his treatments and does much more than just making simple chiropractic adjustments. I asked him if he thought I would just have to live with this numbness forever and he said absolutely not, he assured me that this is completely fixable...and it has been. I have heard that chiropractic adjustments can be much more effective paired with massage, so I have a massage provider I work with and I try to couple chiropractic adjustments with massage whenever possible. read more

I began seeing Dennis about 12 years ago, while working at Radio Valencia. He was chiro to the jazz musicians who played there. I was so tired of the crack and rack mentality of most chiros. Dennis is a different kind of chiro. A kinder, gentler chiro with bettter taste in music. He also doesn't try to rook you into buying packages, or tell you that you have to come back a million times. He told me once that my body would let me know when I need to come back, and it does and I do. When I describe him, it is more as healer than chiropractor. Although he does work witht he bones, his soft tissue work has allowed me to hold adjustments so much longer than with other chiros. Now I see him more infrequently, but every time I feel that twinge, or pinch; I give him a jingle and he always squeezes me in. i have probably sent 25 people to him over the years. They keep going back too. read more

Dennis is literally a miracle worker. As a bodyworker myself, I am constantly on the lookout for other healers to whom I can refer clients; Dennis is by far the best chiropractor I have ever visited, worked for or heard about. He spends extensive time with each client, working soft tissue before making any skeletal adjustments, and addressing the whole body, not just one area. He releases blocks and restrictions more completely than any other chiropractor. After a visit with Dennis, I feel so much freedom and energy pouring through my spine that I am an entirely different person. Dennis is the real deal. Accept no imitations. read more

Hands down my favorite chiropractor in San Francisco.... And I've visited a handful of them. Dennis is very talented and also skilled in various other healing techniques, like sacro cranial, etc. But what sets him apart are both his gentle approach, diligence to resolve any ailment, and time commitment. He's not trying to rush you out like some of the other top practitioners. And I really value that because many times the body responds slowly. read more

I walked into the office bent over, unable to stand up, and in pain due to a lower back injury. I left as if nothing had ever happened to me. However, aside from providing a perfect adjustment for me, I think there are several other reasons you should consider Dr. Millward: - He is incredibly friendly. Who doesn't like their chiropractor to be intelligent, interesting, and amiable? - He will not pretend to know something. If he is not familiar with a subject he simply says so, which allows you to trust him more when he does make an assertion. - Along the same vein, he attempts to answer all of your questions to the best of his abilities. - He takes time to give you a thorough adjustment, and massages your body before trying to adjust it. This makes the whole process much smoother. - He doesn't try to make you come back periodically to milk money out of you. Once healthy, he told me to come back next time things feel off. I'll be sure to do so, and I suggest you do the same. read more

Been dealing with chronic back pain that leads to migraines for 8 years. Dr Millward has helped both the pain and my understanding of its root cause. My days are better and my posture is greatly improved. read more

I have seen many chiropractors in my life. I have never been injured like I have been injured recently, with a shoulder tweeked and almost dislocated after a fall. I am a massage therapist and incredibly scrupulous with who I surrender my body to. Dennis is a gentle and precise man with an obvious natural skill of feeling and seeing into the body. Do not be confused with his "low overhead" office, as it is a comfortable and spacious cabin filled with a long term knowledge, not needing to impress by outside appearances. I am glad that he is not stressed to conform to the regular medical establishment, as that relaxes me even more. He is complete, generous with his work and obviously cares more about the client's full well being than just a weekly crack at it. read more

Nothing short of life-saving. Could barely turn my neck and was in so much discomfort the first time I went. He got me in right away and fixed it right up. I've seen him four times now and each time I'm floored by how much relief I feel. He's also just a super pleasant human being and the atmosphere is really nice and chill. read more

I had some bad chiropractic experiences as a kid, and had pretty much given up on them wholesale, until a friend recommended I visit Dennis, and I'm glad I did. He has a very intuitive touch, and his office is comfortable and homey, without the cold clinical ambience one might normally expect of a chiropractic office. I've been to see Dennis twice now and will continue to visit him when I'm feeling out of alignment. I would recommend him to anyone. read more

Ive been to see chiropractors in both small towns and big cities of the US, in Kenya, Thailand, Argentina and so you get the idea... I went to Dennis on a very high recommendation. I went once, and have been going now for years. Dennis is unlike any other chiropractor I've experienced, and like the woman's review above me noted, most chiros ask what is wrong, do some adjustments in the area of injury, maybe give a few exercises and in 15 minutes, you're out the door. Not so here. Dennis works and corrects your alignment from your toes to your head. His work goes beyond and certainly deeper than what I have experienced elsewhere. I've never had a more thorough, conscious and grounded practitioner work on me. When I leave Dennis' office I feel 4 inches taller, grounded, and clear. Its a real gift, which is what one should feel when they leave their health practitioners, don't you think?! read more

My housemate goes twice a month so I write on behalf of him. I can see a big improvement in how he moves because Dennis knows every help to reduce restrictions. I started with Dennis recently because my Chiro of 20 years is on medical leave. I am a loyal patient, good self care, but I had injuries that mean I need a chiropractor to stay out of pain. I trust Dennis...and thanks Yelpers for your extensive comments to reassure me. MLB read more

Hands of gold. Dr. Dennis is a truly gifted healer, and a very good person. I have not had a visit to his little office when I have not walked out feeling better than when I walked in. If I have any structural injury, I call him before any other doctor. Usually he can fix me in one visit. I have a history of problems and I'm kind of demanding of my body. If it doesn't feel perfect, I'm not completely happy. So I have seen a number of chiropractors over the years. He is easily the most intuitive and knowledgeable. Dennis is also a kind and generous soul. His rates are affordable for everyone. He runs his office in a single room and spends the entire 45 minute appointment (for a regular visit) with his patient. He does not rely on electrostim or ultra-sound (or any assistants) for any preparation. read more

Dennis played a big role in my recovery from two herniated discs. He's a true professional. His warm, friendly demeanor puts you instantly at ease, but the work he does is truly magic. Thanks again for all you did for me, Dennis. read more

Dennis is an amazingly talented healer. My partner has been seeing him for over a decade so I came to him under her high recommendation. I saw him most recently for pain associated with my pregnancy. My hip was very painful and it would lock up all the time and it hurt to walk. I saw Dennis once and the problem was quickly solved and vanished. My only regret is that I had come 3 months sooner. I also love his gentle no pressure attitude. He is very relaxed about your body knowing when you need to come back. He is fantastic. read more

I flew from Singapore to get adjusted by Dennis. He's that good. Full disclosure: I used to live in SF, now live in Singapore for work. In town for a week on business, and after a 30-hour trip landed at SFO with a pinched nerve in my upper back. Dennis was able to see me on short notice the same evening, and worked wonders ("magic", as someone else here wrote). Not only did he correct the pinched nerve issue, he also ferreted out some residual tangles from a 3-year-old rotator cuff injury and worked most of those out, as well. Woke up this morning feeling good, baby, yeah! Better than I've felt in months, truly. I echo what many others here have written: he is much more than a chiropractor. Dennis is a holistic body healer (yes, with great music; and yes, with a gentle and funny soul) who understands and explores the connections in the body, following the jangly nerves and tendons to the root causes of pains that we feel, correcting as he goes. I will fly again from Singapore to get adjusted by Dennis. He's that good. read more

I send all my patients who need chiro to Dennis (I'm an acupuncturist and bodyworker). People come back using words like 'miracle' 'incredible' 'amazing'. Its true. There is no other chiro like him: thorough, precise, knowledgeable, with a full understanding of skeletal AND muscular imbalance and the interaction between the two. His adjustments are gentle and he is an expert in more than just the spine: he's healed my elbows, wrists, ankles and more. I can't recommend him highly enough! read more

Highly recommended. I have been skeptical about the whole Chiropractic thing after a handful of bad visits with various chiros. I kinda gave up on the whole idea but a few months ago I had no choicebut to reconsider my healing options after a really bad pinched nerve running from the back of my neck down to my hand. Should I go massage, acupuncture, chiro? (At that point, I figured I'd try them all, keeping cost in mind.) I decided to give chiro another shot and upon asking around I received high recommendations from my favorite acupuncturist Rebekah Sitty (from SFCA, http://www.yelp.com/biz/san-francisco-community-acupuncture-san-francisco) and some friends on the Zeitgeist staff. So, I'm off to see Dennis. Well, it was worth the visit. My neck pain was greatly relieved, even after that one first session, enough for me to get on with my daily routines and motorcycle riding. I really was quite impressed. Now I try to go to him once a month. I never realized how much stress/tightness my body accumulates and carries over time (from sitting in my chair at work all day and riding long distances on my motorcycle) but I learned to feel the difference from my chiro experience with Dennis. With new found sensations of better breathing and movement, I was practically giggling to myself like a child after I left my appointment. I can't remember the last time I felt this way or even thought to even notice the difference. I literally walked out of there feeling two inches taller. An interesting experience for me as I am someone who has been sort of a non-believer in some of the healing arts in the past. Chiro is not for everyone but I say go check it out. You'll be in good hands with Dennis, a genuine and caring practitioner. read more

Dennis is the most thorough chiropractor I know and I know several. He is present and spends the time fine tuning the adjustments to what your body needs. He goes to every spot that calls his attention and he is listening! He is not prescriptive. He truly loves the art and science of the body and the healing path of chiropractic! Thanks Dennis for the great work! read more

Dennis is the greatest. Besides making my body feel better, he always makes me laugh and I leave every session feeling about ten notches happier and just plain glad to be alive. The guy is cool, respectful, kind and silly. I will never go to a crack and thump chiropractor again - this guy is the real deal. read more

Dennis is the best chiro in the Bay Area!!! I have been going to him for more than 10 years. I am a stressed out attorney and he has helped get me through everything. I have seen many chiropractors and nobody compares. I have a back problem and he has saved me from a lot of pain. He is gentle and does deep muscle work to set your body up for the adjustment. read more

Dennis is very low key, as is his office, but the man works miracles. I'm about to go to him again. Each time I've had a tweaked back he's "fixed" in in two visits. He really does seem to know exaclty what is going on with your body by touching your back. It is the most un-doctorlike visit you'll ever have but you will feel better when you leave. read more
