The oxtail was very flavorful and rich and went well with rice and vegetables. It kind of reminded us of mole sauce. The jerk chicken had a strong spice and vinegar flavor so it was different from what I am used to but the meat was moist and very filling. I tried the sorrel drink for the first time and it was delicious. It kind of tastes like pomegranate juice. I would definitely come back if I was in the area but keep in mind that the prices are not cheap.

I explained exactly how I wanted it prepared, including all my little requests, and he delivered exactly what I asked for. The fish was seasoned just right, flavorful, and cooked beautifully. You can tell when a chef actually listens to the customer and this one did! The ackee and saltfish was another favorite. Well-seasoned, packed with flavor, and cooked just the way it should be. Add some rice and those sweet fried plantains, and that plate was definitely giving authentic Caribbean comfort food. If I'm not mistaken, I've tried almost everything on their menu, and I've never been disappointed not even once. I also loved the atmosphere. There's something about the music, the décor, the warmth, and the overall Caribbean feel of the place that makes you want to sit back, relax, and enjoy your meal. It has that laid-back island energy that you don't have to force it's just there. If you're looking for good Caribbean food, generous flavor, and a vibe that feels warm and familiar, Taste of the Caribbean is definitely worth checking out.

Last time I was at BMH, I didn't get a chance to try Caribbean Gourmet (CG). Yesterday was the day. Parking was easy behind the building. CG offers comforting soul foods with bold flavors of authentic Caribbean and Guyanese cuisines. Their simple menu includes chicken plates, patties (empanadas like), pastries, and drinks. Oxtail stew, jerk chicken, chicken and vegan curries, and freshly made roti are some of their signature dishes. Since it was my first time trying them, I got the Jerk Chicken. Wow, it was one heavy plate! One deliciously tender chicken drumstick + thigh over aromatically flavored coconut rice and peas. Spice level was perfect! Veggies and roasted plantains were fantastic. Absolutely a plate of tasty goodness! Highly recommend for first time and returning customers. I would get it again for sure. Prices were reasonable for the great portions. Staff was super friendly and nice. Thank you Miss! CG is one of the best food options at BMH. I'm planning my return to try their other signature dishes soon. If you haven't tried them, don't wait any longer. It's the real deal Caribbean and Guyanese!

I tried some griot and thought it could have marinated longer. The portions felt very huge. The service here is really friendly and accommodating. The food came put after not too long of a wait and it was hot. The space is cool. It looks like an old diner. Came here for dinner this week, on our way to see Rosalía at the Inglewood Forum. Found it on Yelp…read more(thanks Yelp!). This area is not familiar to us at all, and we don't normally eat (for us) exotic cuisine. But, we were in the mood to try something new, so we stopped here. It's a colorful, cheerful little place. I think there are only like 4 tables. Apparently, it is mostly takeout. This became evident when our food was "served". We ordered a large two-meat plate and two large fried chicken plates. The two meats were "brown stew chicken" and curry goat. The meat is served in thick savory gravy/sauce. The "plates" are served with rice and fried plantains. The brown stew chicken was good. The curry goat was really good. Here's where the experience really veered sharply from our normal dining experience. The "plates" were served in takeout fold-over boxes with plastic forks. The meat itself was pretty much all adhered to bones. It was tender and delicious, but eating with our hands doesn't come naturally. So, I asked for a knife, and the sweet woman who takes the orders looked at me and said they don't have knives, and that we "just have to dig down into it". Indeed. She did give me a second plastic fork though, which I used. Nice workers. Authentic food. Huge portions. New experience which we all enjoyed.

For context, I've always loved Jamaican food and even have family who make incredible, authentic dishes, but I haven't had anything close to that in a year. So my expectations? High. My craving? Even higher. I ordered the jerk chicken dinner with peas & rice and cabbage medley, and some plantains - to go. First off, the service was amazing. The woman who helped me was genuinely warm and welcoming, and you can tell she cares about what she's serving. When I ordered, she asked if I wanted the jerk sauce on the side and made sure I was okay with the spice level when I said no. That attention to detail matters. The food came out quickly (it was mid-afternoon and not busy), and everything stayed warm all the way home--which is always a win for takeout. Now let's talk about the food: The portion was generous, the flavors were on point, and everything tasted fresh. The jerk chicken had that perfect smoky, spicy kick - exactly what I was hoping for. The rice and peas and cabbage medley were a great balance to the heat, and the plantains were sweet and perfectly cooked. I did notice another review complaining about the spice level being too high... and honestly, I had to laugh a little. Have you had jerk chicken before? It's supposed to be spicy - that's the whole point. Personally, that comment is part of what made me choose this place, and it delivered. If you don't like spice, jerk might not be your thing - but I'm sure there are milder options if you ask. Bonus: they offer online ordering and delivery through Uber Eats and Postmates, which makes it even easier to get your fix. Overall, this place brought back the flavors I've been missing for so long. I'll absolutely be back - and probably sooner rather than later.
