Disrespectful. Lack of care…read more Lack of urgency, Lack of compassion Untrustworthy billing. Greedy unnecessary cash grab. SELF-serving flip flopping of network participation Possibly targeting some patients? Ask questions (record) because once they extract those easy hundreds from your insurance for the 15 minute consult and panoramic/X-rays, you are STUCK! You will lose HUNDREDS when you want to change oral surgeons after you find out they suddenly demand the " highest" cash deposit .. or find out the office just made the network policy "change" to exclusively make things difficult for YOU! The delay waiting for the apt. and benefit grab of hundreds for that first appointment, makes it harder to switch to a better office like Cap District Oral Surgeons. BEFORE a CONSULT, and before you walk through that door, require they contact insurance for a prior auth and obtain a COPY. Actively involve insurance! DONT BE THE DESPERATE FOOL they profit from! Their shadiness cost pain, delay of care, and loss of 2k worth of an annual dental insurance benefit. After rep verified procedure was covered in full by insurance with no deductible, the manager changed it up to require a cash down payment for the surgery now stating the "surgery" was billed differently allowing them to demand cash also!!! All of it should have been with our insurance - with no deductible! How in the world can the X-rays and expensive 15 minute consult be in network and covered at 100 %, but the extractions also covered at 100% demand a huge CASH down payment at the highest estimated cost! UNETHICAL????

Today the billing department stated it could take 2 more weeks for me to see that refund. I didn't realize I was in the money lending business. Seems odd they knew what my insurance would cover for the second visit while in my first visit but couldn't figure out I wouldn't owe anything for that first visit.

Everyone who checked in after me, was called first. I watched 2 people who checked in at the same time as me, walk out the door to go home. At one point I politely asked one of the receptionist how long it would be and got a snarky answer while she tried to hide behind her computer monitor to avoid eye contact. At the end, there was only me and one other patient in the waiting area, who checked in long after I did. Another couple came in and asked how long I had been waiting and I told them my appt was at 2:30, and it was now 4 o'clock. The other receptionist stood up and yelled at me across the room. "WE HAVE THREE DOCTORS!" ??? They finally called me in and I sat for another half an hour in the dentist chair before the Dr. came in.

I am an Engineer so I found it very interesting and I never felt rushed. My tooth is a strong as it was before and it feels like a real tooth in my mouth...AMAZING! I want to make an exception here to mention Nicole in the Billing Department. My insurance SUCKS and she really went out of her way to help me. After arguing with my insurance for months she stayed after hours to finalize my claim after contacting my insurance company for me PERSONALLY ...and they are OUT OF NETWORK!!! ...so she did not have to do that!!! THANK YOU NICOLE!!! :)

He had xrays and I was sent there by my dentist with a message from her for an extraction. They tell me no this is just the consult. They had my health questions filled out on the email they sent me with meds and health issues filled out. I don't have a lot of time as I work full time and care for an ill family member on hospice. My time is limited. There is barely a tooth there as it was decayed under the crown. When I did see the dentist he asked me two questions stuck his finger in my mouth and said ok we can do this today but I have to fit you in. Two hour wait time. If they had told me that it was a consult I would not have taken the appointment. He may be a good surgeon but there was no communication. They asked me to be there at 720 and they didn't open the door until 730. Then they wanted a fee for a consult, that was a hard no. So no I would not recommend him. His office was all pretty furniture and big screen TVs but I feel it was just a little too foofoo and not enough medical.

After the procedure explanation and dental plan and billing. They explain that I was beginning to have paradigmos disease. They would build my insurance $20O0 and myself would have to pay $200 out of pocket. I explain to office manager that I have never paid out of pocket Other than co-pay. And I have some of the best insurance as a New York State Employee under CSEA Dental Program. So I declined any further procedures. I soon contacted Upstate Dental. They quickly upfront explain to me that my insurance was not going to pay for any x-rays being that I had already had x-rays done. And I needed to have Aspen Dental forward The full frontal x-rays two Upstate Dental. I did so immediately went to Aspen Dental @ 979 Central Avenue suite 400. Signed information release forms to be emailed to Upstate Dental. When I went to Upstate Dental they had the x-rays. They kept emphasizing that I had very good insurance with New York State and they could proceed with any procedure that was needed. On May 2nd 2026 I received a bill from Aspen Dental for $164.00 I contacted Martha in billing. I explained to her that I was not informed that my insurance company was not going to pay for the x-rays. If I had been informed I would have been able to refuse any procedures that Aspen Dental were providing. I am on FMLA at half pay and 164.00 is a burden to me. She explained that each and every Aspen Dental is individually owned and have their own rules and regulations. I asked about the $28 full examination and x-rays. She explained to me that that was for people who did not have insurance. That is not disclosed in their Nationwide advertisement. While on hold on a telephone one of their advertisements says they offer Peace of mind billing up front full disclosure of any billing and procedures. Yet and still I was not advised that my insurance company was not going to pay for x-rays. She then inform me that you probably could negotiate with the Central Avenue office I asked for the name of the office manager Alexis. I called and left a detailed voicemail and got no response in return. Upstate Dental was forthcoming and transparent and explain to me that x-rays had to be transferred. And my insurance company was not going to pay it. Aspen Dental did not ask for my previous x-rays from Dr. Mustafa Sabai @ 165 Manning boulevard Albany New York. Knowing that my insurance company was not going to pay for the x-rays there was no full disclosure, transparency, or explanation in the procedure and billing meeting with the office manager @ Aspen Dental 979 Central Avenue on March 26th. Aspen Dental has shown predatory practices by Nationwide advertising that you can get an examination & X-rays for $28. When that is not true. They were not up front transparent with the disclosure that my insurance company was not going to pay for the full frontal x-rays. Although they were very much aware of this fact. I find that Aspen Dental is deceptive in their office billing and business practices. They practice predatory senior billing$$$!
