Aspen Dental advertisers $28 X-ray and examination Nationwide. My first visit to Aspen Dental March 26th 2026. I was given and full frontal x-ray and examination. After the procedure explanation and dental plan and billing. They explain that I was beginning to have paradigmos disease. They would build my insurance $20O0 and myself would have to pay $200 out of pocket. I explain to office manager that I have never paid out of pocket Other than co-pay. And I have some of the best insurance as a New York State Employee under CSEA Dental Program. So I declined any further procedures. I soon contacted Upstate Dental. They quickly upfront explain to me that my insurance was not going to pay for any x-rays being that I had already had x-rays done. And I needed to have Aspen Dental forward The full frontal x-rays two Upstate Dental. I did so immediately went to Aspen Dental @ 979 Central Avenue suite 400. Signed information release forms to be emailed to Upstate Dental. When I went to Upstate Dental they had the x-rays. They kept emphasizing that I had very good insurance with New York State and they could proceed with any procedure that was needed. On May 2nd 2026 I received a bill from Aspen Dental for $164.00 I contacted Martha in billing. I explained to her that I was not informed that my insurance company was not going to pay for the x-rays. If I had been informed I would have been able to refuse any procedures that Aspen Dental were providing. I am on FMLA at half pay and 164.00 is a burden to me. She explained that each and every Aspen Dental is individually owned and have their own rules and regulations. I asked about the $28 full examination and x-rays. She explained to me that that was for people who did not have insurance. That is not disclosed in their Nationwide advertisement. While on hold on a telephone one of their advertisements says they offer Peace of mind billing up front full disclosure of any billing and procedures. Yet and still I was not advised that my insurance company was not going to pay for x-rays. She then inform me that you probably could negotiate with the Central Avenue office I asked for the name of the office manager Alexis. I called and left a detailed voicemail and got no response in return. Upstate Dental was forthcoming and transparent and explain to me that x-rays had to be transferred. And my insurance company was not going to pay it. Aspen Dental did not ask for my previous x-rays from Dr. Mustafa Sabai @ 165 Manning boulevard Albany New York. Knowing that my insurance company was not going to pay for the x-rays there was no full disclosure, transparency, or explanation in the procedure and billing meeting with the office manager @ Aspen Dental 979 Central Avenue on March 26th. Aspen Dental has shown predatory practices by Nationwide advertising that you can get an examination & X-rays for $28. When that is not true. They were not up front transparent with the disclosure that my insurance company was not going to pay for the full frontal x-rays. Although they were very much aware of this fact. I find that Aspen Dental is deceptive in their office billing and business practices. They practice predatory senior billing$$$! read more

If I could go lower I would. Made my first appt back in December of 2025. They cancelled without telling me. Rescheduled for February and they cancelled that due to weather. Rescheduled for March and they changed the time of my appt without even calling or asking if I could make that time. In 4 months have never once benn able to get and have them keep an appt. I have dentures from Aspen. They have broken in same spot multiple times over the years. I now have terminal cancer which is very bad. I am pretty much confined to the bed. I requested the denture be repaired, but Dr. Hill insisted I be seen. There is NO way I could even walk to the dentists chair. I tried convincing them to just fix the denture, my husband could drop it off. Dr. HILLs response to why I needed an office visit changed 3 times! The poor office staff woman was stuck in the middle of the conversation, I could tell she felt bad delivering the news. To me this is just insane, and appears to be driven by greed. read more

Don't do a cleaning on first visit. Told there were multiple Types of cleanings to do on a future visit. Then told the endodontist was not in my network so it would costv$2900. When I asked for a referral to an in network endodontist they said they couldn't provide one. I was then told I could come the next day for a cleaning. I said I couldn't make that day and was told that they had no open cleaning appointments until may. I was there in early February. I decided to leave and find another dentist. Unable to call into the office. You get an automated run around. They are trying to double charge me a year later for something my insurance already paid for. I've had 3 3 way calls with my insurance, and they keep saying they'll escalate it to a manager that is never there for some reason. My insurance has even said on multiple occasions (different people) that this is one of the least professional dentists. If you have cash they'll take your teeth out for no reason. They tried to convince me to remove multiple teeth to put in dental implants because it would be a more ideal situation with more room to work with. I know how hard it can be to find a dentist, so I wanted to share what I could! I have been looking for a new dentist recently, but everywhere I call in the Albany area is not accepting new patients. When I developed tooth pain earlier this week, I gave Aspen Dental a call and was pleased they were able to see me. They even offered a same day appointment! The only thing I found strange about my initial call to them was that they asked if I would also like to schedule cleanings for family members, which seemed a little "salesy" and was not a priority in the moment. When I arrived the receptionists were welcoming and the waiting room was comfortable and bright. I arrived 15 minutes early and they took me right away. I first had X-rays done with a very friendly technician who then took me to the dentist's chair. In the chair, I performed in-take paperwork on an iPad and had my blood pressure taken with a device that attaches to the wrist. I was impressed by how quickly the dentist saw me after I completed the forms on the iPad. He examined my teeth and the source of pain, which I had gone in suspecting was a cavity, but he ruled that out. He suspected my pain was likely some source of trauma to my gum and got me scheduled for a cleaning later next month. One of my favorite things about the visit was that there was a small tv above the chair where the dentist can review your x-rays with you. I appreciated being able to be seen so quickly to receive reassurance that the pain was not a sign of a cavity or structural damage to the tooth or root. I will update this review after my cleaning, but for now I felt they made a good impression and I look forward to returning. read more

The only good thing about this place are the receptionists!! They were so friendly and nice. Everything else was extremely sub par. To start, I waited over an hour in the waiting room after my scheduled appointment time to even be brought back for X-rays. I had even arrived fifteen minutes early to fill out paperwork to make sure I wasn't going to be late!! After the xrays were taken I waited another 20-30 minutes to speak with the dentist who barely spent any time with me. I think there was only one dentist on I. The whole office. What a joke. I paid around 7k for invisalign treatment and a dental implant.I dont have straight teeth or a completed implant. Their missteps in my treatment process and their inability to take necessary appointments as part of the treatment process have caused my near perfect gumline to shift and now needs repair. I have been waiting over a year for my crown to be placed. FIVE months ago I was told I would be finished within 6-8 weeks. I was sent home WITHOUT retainers despite telling the doctor (who should know) that my teeth will shift back. They did begin shifting back, of course. Although, I've called the office on numerous occasions noting how the missing tooth was impacting my life and noting that my inviaslign treatment is getting lost and my teeth are shifting, I could never speak to a doctor and was told they would and return .y call but NEVER did. After paying like 7k? Wow! I consulted with a true orthodontist (my daughters so I know he is excellent) who said I will need to wear braces (or invisalign) for up to a year again to repair the gumline and straighten my teeth AGAIN. I requested a refund which I haven't gotten but even if they refunded me I lost 3 years, time off from work,gas and time back and forth to appointments and the whole time the inability to eat out with friends and family because I am mortified about a missing tooth. I can't get that back. If ever a business should be put out of their misery this one should. This was an awful, costly emotional just terrible experience. If you have ever been influenced by a review, let it be this one. Don't go to any Aspen Dental in the Capital District NY. Most of them have the same owner. I recently was at the Aspen Dentist in Latham NY for a broke tooth and chipped tooth ! after they did all the x rays exc and looked at me the first visit , they said they can work on me. and my insurance approved it all . and then they told me to come back at 4:45pm that evening that the Dr. would work on me and stay late.. all he did was loo at my x rays and my tooth, and said he can't work on me .. and they told me to leave that they will all me back the next day and never did ! It's worth it to get the free check up for new patients, but I do not recommend going any further than that. The dentists and medical personnel are not good, knowledgeable, or even pleasant for that matter. Expect to be there a minimum of 2 hours for anything at all. Even a simple cleaning leads to an absurd wait time. I'm not sure what they do there to make the wait so ridiculous all the time, but hopefully they change it. It drives me crazy and I will be finding a new dentist because of it. The worst part is when you finally get in the chair, wait an hour in the chair to see the dentist, then get your work finished, they sit you back in the waiting room to talk to their billing desk about your bill. Why? I don't know, it's stupid. That usually ends up being a 20 minute wait just to pay the bill. How hard is it to enter my insurance information, input the work done, and give me a receipt? I've never encountered such an inefficient system in my life. Even the DMV is more organized and quicker. Edit: I demoted my rating to a one star and edited some material in light of some new findings. I went to another dentist due to frustrations with Aspen and I found out that the work done by the dentists here (fillings) was atrocious. Because they drilled more than what was necessary, I now need a root canal due to the proximity of the drilling to my nerve. Do not use Aspen, you will regret it. Even getting copies of my xrays was a huge hassle, and turned out to be an hour wait; even after calling 2 hours ahead. read more

It took 6 tries to fill a single cavity. Every time I would leave, the filling would fall out within 3 days. After two months of shoddy work, performed by 4 different dentists, I gave up - and lived with a sharp, broken tooth and missing filling. I strongly recommend avoiding this dental practice at any cost. Not only will they keep you waiting whenever possible (waiting room, detail chair, x-ray area), but they will push "optional" treatments as necessary and attempt to talk you into additional services and work. I don't know if this is typical of Aspen across the board, but I don't really want to find out. In the meantime, this specific location is one to avoid. read more

While I'm not new to the area I was forced into trying a new dentist so I settled on Aspen Dental. It was easy to sign up via their website so I figured I made a good choice. That was until I went to sign back in. The website gave me nothing but issues which caused me to have to call in. I called their toll free number to set up an appointment, while that wasn't difficult I definitely didn't want to have to call when I was ALREADY on the website. The appointment was made via the phone which was ok. The representative was sufficient. I get to the office it's clean, the staff is pleasant. The X-ray exam was by far the worst I have ever experienced. It took 20 minutes to complete. I then waited another 15 for a Dentist to come in and check my teeth. After making a few recommendations, he gave me a list of what we would work on in the future. The front desk also provided me with a estimate of what the work would cost. Perfect. Fast forward. I come back into complete the work, after waiting for 45 minutes for a doctor. The dentist comes in. He asks if I'm in pain. I said no and explained that I do have a discomfort with a tooth in the back of my mouth. I open my mouth. He sticks my tooth with something. Mentioned two words to the Assistant he had there, and left. She then tells me I'm done to wait in the front. The staff then tells me that I'm only here for a check up- meaning X-rays. Which must be down every 6 months. I was supposed to see a hygienist NOT get X-rays. Yet twice they gave me X-rays. Not once did they mention the previous recommendations, when I brought them up, I was told they had no record of it. After that I requested my records and closed my account. I saw a lot of negative reviews for Aspen Dental but I didn't have the same experience. I've been to A TON of dentist due to having an enamel issue which causes my teeth to break. This is the first dentist's office that wasn't overly judgmental about the condition of my mouth, they gave me the facts and a variety of options on how to proceed. Every procedure I've had here was painless and quick, so I can't say enough good things about them. I've never had a cancelled appointment, so I can't speak on that. The worst experience with ANY business I've EVER had. First off, I've gone to a dentist every 6 months for routine cleanings since I was a toddler. Went through the whole braces thing as a teenager. I moved to Albany recently and needed to establish with a new dentist. Aspen dental had openings and I made an appointment. First is the new patient appointment: you get taken for X-rays in this closet-sized room. The assistant or technician (whatever their title is) didn't know what they were doing. DIDNT EVEN CLOSE THE CURTAIN SO I CAN HAVE A LITTLE PRIVACY WHILE SHE SHOVES THINGS IN MY MOUTH. Other patients walk by, as it's the only hallway to get out of the building, and stare at you. Sanitation is an issue here as well. They use plastic coverings (which will cut the inside of your mouth) to cover the pieces you have to bite down on for the X-rays. And instead of making these pieces sit comfortably in your mouth, they'll just leave you while these plastic pieces cut the roof of your mouth and gums. I met with the "doctor" for a total of 7 minutes during my first appointment. And he told me I had ELEVEN cavities. I've never had a cavity in my life, and I have gone to a dentist for X-rays and cleanings every six months, since I was 4. I had just gone to the dentist 2 months prior and was told I had the start of 1 cavity. When I told them this and asked how I could possibly have ELEVEN cavities, the doctor said "some dentists take a 'wait-and-see-approach' but you have 11 so yeah, go ahead and schedule those." Then I said I had a toothache in one side of my mouth. He told me I probably grind my teeth and told me that the finance people can help me get a guard to wear at night. (Didn't even look at the tooth in question). I met with reception/finance, and they quoted my 11 fillings for $1500. I have decent insurance, but would still have to pay about $600 for all the work that needs to be done. I REFUSED the mouth guard the doctor suggested, because I know I don't grind my teeth. They scheduled my first filling appointment for 8am (I work 9-5). A few days before my appointment, I get an email to confirm my appointment time for 9:30am (A DIFFERENT TIME THAN I WAS SCHEDULED FOR). I go in and get my first 3 fillings done. I schedule my appointment to get another 3 done. I call after my initial fillings appointment to say that my teeth ache tremendously (after 2 weeks), there's a crater on top of one of my teeth, and I think a filling broke. I told them I was in extreme pain. They made me an appointment for 8 days later...because "the doctor only works on mondays and fridays". I go in for my appointment at 12pm. I sit in the chair until 12:55, thinking I'm going to get numbed up and get my filling fixed. PLOT TWIST. An assistant comes over and tells me that this is an evaluation appointment...then goes on to tell me that if the doctor made a mistake and drilled too deep during my initial filling, that I might need a ROOT CANAL. At 12:57, the "doctor" (same doctor that saw me originally to diagnose 11 cavities, but not the guy who actually did the fillings) looked at my teeth for 3 minutes. Said there's nothing wrong. Says there's no sharp edge or crater on my tooth. Says that's how my tooth is naturally (ummm no, I haven't ever cut my tongue on my tooth until your other doctor drilled into it). He said there's nothing to be done except finish the rest of my fillings. He did say that they could re-do this one but I'll have to make another appointment. I told him "okay". When I got to the finance department again to schedule this appointment, I cancelled everything with them. My upcoming cleaning, fillings appointments, follow ups. EVERYTHING. THESE PEOPLE DRILLED INTO 6 OF MY TEETH THAT DIDNT NEED FILLINGS. I consult with my previous dentist from my hometown and he tells me that Aspen doctors make commission??? He looks at my X-rays taken 2 months prior to my Aspen X-rays and says NO WAY DO I HAVE 11. He says my teeth are discolored in some spots because of my braces fiasco. But these ARE NOT worthy of fillings. These Aspen doctors are here to take your money and to provide inadequate services so you have to keep going back to get their work fixed. They do poor work to keep charging your insurance. Go somewhere else. ANYWHERE ELSE. Don't be like me. Don't let these people ruin your teeth...because they will. read more

The absolute worst. This place is a poor excuse for a dental office.my fiance came in with a toothache.they examined him, gave him a script for antibiotics and told him he needed about 1700. Worth of dental work done...after insurance. So he told them he needed some time to think as that's a lot of money out of pocket.they also told him he could finance the work for 50 bucks a month but he had to apply for a crefit card.so we talked it over and decided that if he could indeed ginance the root canal for that price we would do it.if not, he would get it pulled because its a back tooth.so we went in and he spploed for this card.je was told that he was denied...but he did get approval for another card with a monthly payment of 130. A month.so wr decided to just pull the tooth.he payed out of pocket 126. To pull the tooth and made an appointment for a week later.the next day, he was still in complete pain because while they fid prescribe him an anti biotic, they did not prescribe him a painkiller of any kind.so he called back the next day to try to get an appointment sooner then next week.he was informed that he had an appointment that very day! Do they sceduled him completely wrong. He told them he had another dental appointment for his son but because he was in psin he would make the wrongly sceduled appointment anyway.so he took his don to the dentist about 15 minutes away then raced to adpen dental to get his tooth pulled.he was running ten minutes late He called and told the receptionist he was running lste but would be there.the receptionist replayed oh well the doctor is stillborn on lunch.so with traffic he got there 15 minutes late. He raced in and asked if he could still get his tooth pulled.the rude receptionist told him she would ask the doctor. He sat there for 20 more minutes while she ignored him.finally , the doctor came out and she asked him if he could be seen. The doctor slammed his file fown and said "bump him". Wow...thats a GREAT doctor. ..a patient is in pain and you "bump them".thats pretty unprofessional if you ask me.so after thst, the ofgice manager realized thst she booked him for the wrong day and actually apologized. She offered him sn appointment 3 hours later.which he took because at the moment he was desperate and in pain. Apen dental is the worst dental office i have ever been to.they are in it for one reason...THE MONEY. There is NOTHING good anout our experience. I had came in just for a cleaning. I thought, "what could go wrong?" I went to a different dentist for other needs, but I thought Aspen Dental should be able to handle this. It is closer than the other practice so, I went. Well, the hygienist managed to file, chip away pieces of my fillings along the gum line!! I am still paying another dentist for her work, since my insurance would not cover it completely. She diligently selected just the right ceramic material that matched my teeth perfectly. I had a very bad time with them. Most important was the cost. The estimated cost was over $6000 for the removal of a wisdom tooth. That was impossible for me. I explained it and the cost was reduced to just the tooth removal and a cleaning $2000+. I got copies of both estimate and gave them my credit card info. I assumed it would not be used until services were rendered. I had the tooth extracted and was not pleased for a number of reasons Including having to try 3 times to out in the IV. Very painful. Second was the first time I showed up for the extraction I was told I could not have it when they found out I didn't bring someone with me to drive me home and had eaten that day. It is a routine I know well having had many surgeries I was always given a written list of pre surgery instructions. I had no idea this would be the same especially since I was always given a list and asked immediately when I showed up who was there to drive me home and did I eat anything. I was never given a list of such instructions. And left without the surgery. Later I charged an extra $40+ because the doctor saw me when I showed up not prepared and sent me home. On further inspection of the bill list of things included in the original $6000 bill it included things like Invisalign braces. The $2000 bill included a cleaning which I didn't ask for. In fact when I separated out the tooth extraction from the rest the bill was $1000 less than the original $2000. Still expensive but not impossible. I then found out my credit card was already charged by Monday, just 1 day after the procedure on Saturday. The charge of $1000 for the cleaning showed up a week before the appointment for it. I was lied to and told they informed me about showing up with someone and not eating before the procedure so I had to pay the extra $40. Later I realized my dentist sent me to Adirondack dentistry. When I googled it on line an ad for Aspen came up first in the search. I then called the wrong dentistry and boy am I sorry I made that mistake. read more

NEVER go to Aspen Dental. First they cut my cheek so much that I needed stitches & gave me too much novacane so I couldn't close my eye. Then, I had to reschedule my appointment TWICE after already sitting in the dentist chair. I was told, "Sorry, the dentist you prefer is busy. You will be seen by Dr. Cut-your-cheek-open." (I don't think so) Then today "Sorry, we have a surgery scheduled now. You can wait an hour and a half or reschedule. It's your choice." Yes, well, I'm going to choose a new dentist! . read more

Lack of transparency - the bill did not disclose what is included. When I questions, turned out that this center was trying to sell me Sonicare brush without telling me. Unresponsiveness - You need to call the manager (Tracy) 10 times to get an appointment. As a new patient, you can book appointment online but once you are trapped, you need to keep calling to get appointment. They also lose your insurance information (copies) which is supposed to be confidential. Selling services not required - Always exaggerating the issue to tell extra treatment, products and services. In addition, they refuse to share X-rays with other Aspen Dental locations. X-rays are digital and are quite transferable but this is an attempt to cheat patients for more money. Positive - they are open on one Saturday per month and until 7pm on Tuesday. read more

Please do not waste your time here. I tried to work with them to have 4 cleanings a year. I keep having appointment cancelled by them. The dentist are arrogant and rude to you. The office staff is ok but after are with them they try to make you have services that you do not need, I have insurance and they come up with exaggerated charges and demand that you get work don't that isn't needed. Do not use this dental office at all costs ... they are the absolute WORST! Their call center assured me on a Saturday morning that they could extract my son's wisdom tooth in an emergency first thing Monday morning. After he got to the office on Monday and had x-rays taken, he found out they don't actually do wisdom tooth extractions and he would have to wait 4 days for the extraction in a different location. I scheduled the extraction elsewhere and have been fighting whatever was left of the bill after my insurance paid for the x-rays and office visit. They sent my bill to a collection company who dropped the charge after an investigation. So Aspen Dental sent it to another collection company. I am being harassed for a charge that should never have been charged at all. They need to take responsibility for making sure their call center understands their capabilities. read more

DO NOT GO TO THIS DENTIST. Scheduled a teeth cleaning over the phone, then right before my appointment they tell me I can't get the cleaning because my first visit is for xrays, exams etc. I only had a few more days in the area, and cancelled an appointment at a different (legitimate) dentist to accommodate a tighter schedule, so Aspen Dental really screwed me. Ended up leaving the area without a teeth cleaning. read more

Money grubbing chain place! I had chipped a back tooth and I was going out of town and my tooth was cutting my tongue I was also worried about exposed nerve and didn't want any infection. I called many places and aspen was only one who said they can squeeze me in for an emergency visit. They took my xrays the girl was nice a little on the odd side but you could tell she was a people pleaser and her coworker was extremely rude and demanding to her anyways moving on I get to back of room wait for dentist and he points out every that is wrong. I had mentioned again for the second time why I was there not for an emergency consultation lol I was there to get my tooth fixed. He then proceeded to ask me which tooth and I told him again he glanced and moved on to his speech about what I needed done and it had to be a specialist ... ok all I wanted was maybe the chipped hole to get a temp filling till I get back from my trip! He sends me to finance telling me nothing he can do that day so I essentially had an emergency visit just to be told ( by the finance manager who was extremely rude the whole time after I told her no way I was going to pay anywhere near that ) it would almost 3 grand for a root canal and a cap they wanted 10 grand all together for things that should cost around 3 many 4 grand in total . I told my mom in California she laughed said I could fly you out we could get work done and it would still be cheaper including flight to Los Angeles ! Moral of story is steer clear of this chain they only care about money it's Disgusting how they take advantage of people who don't know better! I guess there's a reason it's all one stars! read more
