I had to have a broken tooth extracted in March of 2023 which my general dentist could not handle,…read moreso the dentist referred me to an oral surgeon (Empire Oral Surgery). The appointment required well over a month, and I asked if the healthcare staff wore masks while performing the procedure and got an equivocal assurance that they did. When I arrived for the procedure I found that all the staff at the practice were not wearing masks of any kind, and when I asked if the attending surgeon would be wearing a mask I was told that he would not (you can read my May 18th review of Empire Oral Surgery if you want the details). I know that there is no longer any law requiring that healthcare workers wear masks and that politicians have declared that the COVID pandemic is over, but the pandemic is *not* over and the law often is wrong. I had to beat a retreat and then search for a surgeon who would observe basic biosafety protocols. I called my general dentist and asked for any other oral surgeons he might recommend and came away with a list of four. To their credit the first two offices were honest and said that they would not wear masks (one "No" and a second "Hell no") but the third, Dr. Gelder's office, said that they'd "take it under advisement" and get back to me. They called me back an hour later and said they'd wear masks for the procedure. I offered to furnish the N95 masks (sealed and factory stamped) but they said they had them on hand. The only problem was that they'd have to schedule the appointment two months out. I accepted and babied the broken tooth for the next couple of months. Once the appointment came I have to say the experience was completely different than Empire Oral Surgery. I was greeted by a nurse wearing an N95 mask, taken to a well-ventilated surgery suite, and was worked on by Dr. Gelder who also made a point of wearing an N95 mask while entering, administering anesthesia, performing the procedure, and suturing up/telling me how to handle aftercare. This was not a simple extraction: it involved a tooth that had vertically sheared and broken below the gum line, and it required a studied hand to handle it (believe me, in the five months I had to wait for this procedure I had plenty of time to read about it on the internet). Dr. Gelder and his nurse were extremely good at their work. If you want a very very good surgeon -- Dr. Gelder (and his nurse) are the people to go to. If you want someone who will respect your concerns about COVID -- Dr. Gelder (and his nurse) are the people to go to.

Dr. Gelder is amazingly gentle and communicates clearly recommendations and assessments. Staff…read morewere helpful and friendly and appointments were on time! Highly recommend!

Once again. I have had a wonderful experience. Unfortunately the main reason for coming to this…read morepractice was to have an evaluation of my tooth. My appointment was for 7 am. I got there around 6:45 and was greeted by two very happy and cheerful young ladies. After filling out paperwork I was promptly called in' Mandy did a wonderful job preparing the room for the time when I was going to be seen by Dr. Chang. Upon looking at my tooth he agreed that it needed to be extracted and asked if I wanted to go ahead and doing right then. I of course said yes since I had been in a lot of pain. He successfully removed it without any complications. I would recommend this practice and would also highly recommend Dr Chang. Thank you for making this an easy process.

Disrespectful. Lack of care…read more Lack of urgency, Lack of compassion Untrustworthy billing. Greedy unnecessary cash grab. SELF-serving flip flopping of network participation Possibly targeting some patients? Ask questions (record) because once they extract those easy hundreds from your insurance for the 15 minute consult and panoramic/X-rays, you are STUCK! You will lose HUNDREDS when you want to change oral surgeons after you find out they suddenly demand the " highest" cash deposit .. or find out the office just made the network policy "change" to exclusively make things difficult for YOU! The delay waiting for the apt. and benefit grab of hundreds for that first appointment, makes it harder to switch to a better office like Cap District Oral Surgeons. BEFORE a CONSULT, and before you walk through that door, require they contact insurance for a prior auth and obtain a COPY. Actively involve insurance! DONT BE THE DESPERATE FOOL they profit from! Their shadiness cost pain, delay of care, and loss of 2k worth of an annual dental insurance benefit. After rep verified procedure was covered in full by insurance with no deductible, the manager changed it up to require a cash down payment for the surgery now stating the "surgery" was billed differently allowing them to demand cash also!!! All of it should have been with our insurance - with no deductible! How in the world can the X-rays and expensive 15 minute consult be in network and covered at 100 %, but the extractions also covered at 100% demand a huge CASH down payment at the highest estimated cost! UNETHICAL????

Dr. Julia Cerny took me on as a new patient almost 4 years ago. Afraid of dentist like most people…read moreI only went when I needed emergency dental work. I waited a few days after my dental appointment to post a review because I could not stop crying. (Don't worry they are all tears of Joy) Dr. Cerny's office is nothing but professional. Each member on her team plays a vital role. Alice is wonderful she goes above and beyond helping patients figure billing out so we don't have too. Amanda the dental assistant is always smiling and a will go out of her way to make you comfortable. Lisa the dental hygienist is real gentle and the whole time she is cleaning your teeth she's educating you about proper care of brushing/flossing. I have never touched that charcoal based toothpaste again! Even the new girl Kaylie it's like she's been there since I became a patient. Everyone there is awesome all kind and respectful. It's comforting going into a Dentist office and not experiencing any anxiety or feeling judgement from any of her staff. The office is always clean and never smells bad. Dr. Cerny She is very honest and knowledgeable about cosmetic dental work but also what really is the right course of treatment. Most of all Dr. Cerny listened and only stated facts. She told me what she can deliver and not only did she make it happen but she truly cares about each and every single patient. She fixed my dental issues that were results from careless work performed by another dentist. I can chew properly now and there's no pain anymore. After the work she did to my mouth I have had nothing but compliments and people wanting her contact info. I can't Thank you Dr. Cerny and the team enough for making me smile again. I have all the confidence now to take more selfies with my daughter. Without you taking me as your patient and working with me this would not have happened. I actually can't wait to see them again in a few weeks. If anyone is looking for a respectful dentist office and a professional team please check Dr. Julia Cerny out. Oh FYI not only does she do dental work both general cosmetic and orthodontist she also does Botox, lip fillers, Euro/threading etc. I think it's safe to call her #SuperWoman in the white lab coat. I have shared before and after pictures on her business fb.

i put a review about this business a few months ago and i am happy to report than they seem to have…read morechanged. I had complained that one of the dentists who was my dentist was only there twice a month and he is now coming in more often. He is there once a week now and the other dentist that was only there twice week is now there every day. Many people don't handle criticism well so I really respect the doctors for listening and changing to make things better. They were extremely nice to me when i came in for my appointment which I did appreciate. I think Yelp is the best thing that ever happened because it makes everyone accountable for their actions no matter how big the company or important the individual is. Thank you to Union Street Dentistry

I would not recommend this office to anyone because it was my experience that the office manager…read morewas extremely disrespectful and argumentative, The receptionist was not at all knowledgeable of any of the questions that I was asking her. And no she was not a new employee. I was hung up on and was asked if I wanted to cancel the remaining of my appointments. The only thing I called there for was to ask what the next step in my dental treatment was going to be. The dentist that is going to do my root canal called them and spoke directly to the dentist that was treating me and no one including the rude office manager had no clue what I was talking about. I was told we have no record anything that you are talking about so moving forward when you call here listen to what is being told to you and give us the respect that we are due. I tried to explain to her that I was sitting there when the other dentist called them the office manager continued to over talk me and would not listen to anything I had to say. She hung up on me twice. If you are loosing records/notes and being that disrespectful what are you going to do during the procedure that I will be paying you to preform on my mouth. No thanks keep your unorganized services and disrespect.
