Updated on 11/17/2023…read more I revised my review from 1 star to 5 star review for Air Tech responded quickly and came out to rework on the no heat problem and to repair the air duct. It looks like the no heat problem has been resolved by replacing roll out unit switches. So far, I still get the heat. Walt, the owners responded quickly and took care of the problems. Air Tech is the still company I call when I have HVAC problems. ---------------- 1st call, they came to fix a no heat issue on 11/31/2023. Two guys came and worked on the heater and charged $177. They wrote down on the invoice that the heater is working properly. 2nd call, they came on 11/03/2023 to look at existing air duct dampers and see if they can connect the existing air duct dampers that are already there and install a thermostat. Two guys came and went to the attic for about half a hour, they came back down and said I have 3 dampers there; one goes downstairs and one goes upstairs. I asked which air ducts that the 3rd damper control and going to which room. One of the guys said I don't know. The other guy said show him your pictures. He was hesitant but he showed me the pictures on his IPhone. Among a few pictures one picture that caught my eyes was the one with the air duct got cut wide open. I asked why this air duct open. He said it got broken since I bought the house. I bought the house 7 years ago and I called contractors to work on the heater occasionally but nobody told me there was a broken air duct there before. I went up there myself a few times and I didn't see any broken air duct. Even them, they came a week ago, they didn't tell me there was a broken air duct. I asked them why don't you tape it. He said he will tear down the air duct and rebuild so it doesn't make sense to tape it now. I asked how I could use the heater, he said it was just a little bit. So why suddenly the air duct got broken and they was not going to tell me until I asked? I went up there to tape it and it definitely it was freshly cut off; not got broken. Please see the picture. Why did they cut it? I don't know. They might have cut it to look at the damper below but was not planning to tell me about it until I saw the picture. They probably intended not just to connect the dampers and install the thermostat as they were called in to do the estimate. They wanted to tear down the whole air duct to make the most money they can. All these are questionable. A week later, the estimate came $7,437 to install new air duct dampers, install a thermostat and reduct! Cutting air duct to create more problems so that they can have a bigger job to do is wrong. They should have asked me first if they need to cut something. Why they refused they cut the air duct? If the air was cut by the previous contractors, why they didn't tell me when they first worked up there. If they saw it wide open and they knew I needed to use the heater why they didn't they tape it back. Also the no heat issue they said they fixed on 10/31/2023 came back and we ended up staying in the cold. It is very frustrating and this is very suspicious that this was done so that they can say existing duct needs a rebuilt. I am calling for the management to investigate on this before I escalate this to the State Licensing Board.
