I enjoyed my stay. My cousin, who was getting married at the time, blocked rooms at this hotel. So naturally I booked a room there, and got the king bed guest room. Check-in was fast, even with the long lines. What's interesting is that the front desk has these little assorted vitamin tablets to put in your complimentary water bottle. I've never seen that before, but maybe that's what happens in a country with socialized healthcare. I totally appreciate that! The room itself was clean. The AC worked fine. I find that the air can be dry in hotel rooms, but I didn't experience any issues. The lobby has a lot of seating. The on-site restaurant had good food and great service. The staff was VERY patient with my big and loud family, which I also appreciate. The property isn't too far from shopping and restaurants. Though it was summer so the weather was nice. I can't imagine walking in the middle of winter, though I guess walking would be safer than driving for me since I'm not used to driving in the snow. The nearest grocery store is like a 5-min walk so it is doable. I recommend this Marriott property if you need a place to stay in Waterloo since it's close to restaurants, shopping, and the university. read more

I spent last night at the Delta Hotel in Waterloo. I've stayed here a couple times over the years. Parking was self-parking and $12/night. There are lots of restaurants nearby, including in the hotel. There is a fitness room, pool and hot tub but I didn't get a chance to check them out. My room had a mini fridge and a coffee maker. WIFI was complimentary and was speedy. There were two complimentary bottles of water. The bathroom had a large night light under the vanity (by the floor) that came on when I entered the room, which was handy when going to the bathroom in the middle of the night. read more

We stayed overnight after our nieces wedding reception nearby. The bed was very comfortable, we had a corner suite so the room was nice and quiet. The suites are enormous and feature a king bed and pullout sleeper sofa. There's a good sized kitchenette area that's completely stocked with dishes and cutlery plus fridge/freezer, microwave, sink and dishwasher - no cooktop. Bathroom is large and well lit and the towels are nice and large. Front desk staff were friendly and helpful. The free WiFi is very good or you have the option to upgrade if you're doing something that requires a lot of refreshes. We had no problem watching Netflix and doing work without the upgrade. Parking costs additional - $12 per night at time of review. There is a small garage and lot adjacent and a large parking area beneath the hotel. There are electric charging spaces available also. Facilities include an on-site restaurant serving breakfast and dinner. There's also an indoor pool, sauna and gym. Everything is clean and modern and the central location can't be beat - highly recommend. read more

My boyfriend and I recently did a staycation, and spent nine days at this Delta in uptown Waterloo. I normally stay in the St. Jacob's area, but felt it was time for a change. When I haven't been to a hotel, I typically park outside and drop in to get details. I had a resourceful young gentleman at the front desk helping me check in. My boyfriend was hauling our belongings out of the car. If you are a Marriott gold or platinum elite member (both of us are the former, with my barely making it!), this Delta does not have a lounge. However, you get a voucher for each day of your stay at Proof, which is the restaurant and lounge on the main floor of this hotel, for a free breakfast at the buffet. You also get coffee, tea, or juice included. Nice! I asked about parking. Self-parking is $12 a day, including tax. Valet parking is $20. I recommend opting for the former. Don't be lazy and save your $8. I also recommend parking indoors when it's hot outside. You can also park outside. I had no problems at all with access, even with the construction happening outside. I also asked about fireworks for Canada Day. He was kind to direct me to a sign over to the left. The University of Waterloo had a Canada Day event all day, ending the day off with fireworks. Nice! Although I enjoy watching fireworks, it was humid and hot and I had a perfectly good view of the fireworks from my hotel room. I enjoyed the display. This hotel is super quiet. I got a decent night's sleep every night. Sure, the mini fridge in the room took getting used to the subtle noise that it made, but the bed was comfortable and we didn't have any loud neighbours. It was perfect! The bathroom felt roomy. The shower made me relax every night. The toiletries felt luxurious and were of higher quality with argan oil. Housekeeping did a decent job. There was an occasional slip-up here and there (garbage wasn't throw out in the living room area on my second-last night, and the liquid bottle of shower gel wasn't replaced one day). However, it wasn't a huge deal to me. We both are not exactly slobs. I was pleasantly surprised one morning when I took the do-not-disturb sign off the doorknob without thinking and went downstairs for breakfast. We came back up 45 minutes later and the room was made. Wow! There was one day in which our room wasn't made until 2 pm. We had come back for a short time to freshen up and head out again. We both ended up going to the comfortable lobby, chatting while we sat there for fifteen minutes, and figuring out that the fireplace was fake, but looked cozy. I had asked housekeeping before we hit the lobby how long we should stay away for. She said ten minutes. They worked diligently. The best part of housekeeping was on the seventh day. We returned to the room to find a cute dog towel animal sitting next to my electric toothbrush on the bathroom counter. He had a bow tie on and was adorable. I loved that added touch. He matched my Snoopy t-shirt that I wore a couple of times during my stay. I loved the leather couch in the room. We spent many moments sitting there to watch TV, snack, cuddle, or just take a quick nap. It felt like home. The wifi was great. We were on the eighth floor. With elite access, you get the faster wifi for free. I never had any issues looking up stuff or streaming. The TV was large. It must have been at least 55" and was crisp. We never had any outages. I loved how friendly everyone was at this hotel. I visited the front desk a couple of times. The first time was redeeming my breakfast voucher for 750 points. I couldn't use it that day because I was fasting for bloodwork. The cheerful gentleman asked how I was enjoying my stay. I loved it here. He would often wave to me each morning that he was there as I headed out to be a tourist. The other time I stopped by occurred when I lost both my room cards while being a tourist in Niagara Falls. The woman at the front desk was helpful to get me replacement cards. You'll need to present ID. I liked that security check. I didn't have to say my name, in case others were listening in. She also told me that business guests mainly stay at this hotel, so the noise level is kept down to a minimum. There is a piano in the lobby. You can play it during specific hours. Naturally, you don't want to be playing at 2 am. You can also get snacks in the little tuck shop next to the front desk. I would recommend bringing your own. We loved our stay here. This is a very nice hotel that is conveniently located to the Universities and the Uptown area where there is a drug store, value mart, coffee shops, restaurants, and banks. Our room was large, clean, and quiet (except for the construction noise until 5:30 pm and music until 10 pm). It had a refrigerator and coffee maker, but no safe. The bathroom was large with lots of counter space and a nice shower. There was a frosted window in the shower to let in light, but unfortunately, it also lets out light into the bedroom if you use the bathroom in the middle of the night. The breakfast buffet had a few hot dishes, waffle maker, cold cereal, fruit, and some pastries. The breakfast room was almost empty but we still had to ask for coffee and tea. read more

Wow I don't go to fancy hotels very often so this hotel was amazing. Staff were all very helpful and pleasant. The gym was small but maintained well and clean. There were also plenty of wipes, towels, and water. My favorite part was the hotel restaurant. It is definitely pricey, but the food is top quality. I ordered the Chicken Tinga Bowl, which looked smaller but was very filling (be aware it is full of quinoa, not rice). I also ordered the 3 app + bottle of wine for $50 deal and shared with my teammate. The duck wings were sensational. Cooked perfectly and so delicious with the blue cheese. They even gave us an extra wing so we could share evenly (3 and 3). The fried chicken bao was solid and the grilled calamari was simple and a nice balance from the stronger flavors of the former two. Overall a pretty good deal and decent volume so definitely shareable. Be aware that you probably need to make a reservation for the restaurant during busy hours - especially if you have a group. The parking garage is a little bit tight, but not much you can really do about it. Just be aware if you're bringing a much bigger car. We booked the private room in the really beautifully done dining bar/restaurant/lounge for a party of 22 and they did a really great job of providing the brunch. Fantastic Marriott property, likely the best hotel in all of KW in terms of quality and location. I stayed here 3 nights for work. The 2 queen bed room is much larger than the 1 king bed room, though the rooms are already pretty large to begin with, and great if needing to fill to full capacity. Beds were comfortable. Rooms were quiet and sound proof. There was an empty fridge useful for making drinks cold. I was on the 6th floor and faced the parking lot. Not the best view, but honestly there aren't really views in the city because Waterloo doesn't really have tall buildings - so I'm not complaining. Since they just opened a few years ago, they have great, clean facilities by default. I used the pool and hot tub which were both empty during a late afternoon weekday. They also have a huge fitness centre. The Proof restaurant on the first floor is great as well. Great location - walking distance to Uptown (which is finally done lightrail construction), with many restaurants and bars. Also quite close to University of Waterloo. With Uber in the city now, things have been more convenient; the school is just a 3-5min drive away. Definitely staying here next time I'm in town for work! read more

We didn't try the restaurant - but it seemed very popular not just with people staying at the hotel, but with locals. 4. Attractive common areas. 5. Standard Marriott beds - comfortable, although pillows were way overstuffed and they didn't offer any alternatives. 6. Nice details to welcome you - like two bottles of water, one on each bed table...and a coupon for a free appetizer if you ordered a meal in the restaurant. On the flip side: 1.) No views here - the immediate area is high rise apartments, construction and lower income houses. 2.) Parking is expensive for what it is and where it is - it should be included in the room at a location like that. And it's a bit of a pain - long walk from purpose and main floor parking areas. 3.) Standard rooms are well designed but on small side for price and location. Fine for solo business travelers, but quarters tighter for multiple adults in the room or families. All in all, it seems like the best hotel option in the immediate area and a standard Marriott property. Pool/workout room better than some at this price point - that was the biggest positive imo. read more

We stayed here for a wedding this past weekend and I have to say, it's one of the nicest hotels I've ever stayed in! From the moment you walk in to the lobby you know your stay is going to be plush, accommodating, and so comfortable. The decor is completely modern with a touch of glitz; there is not a hint of outdated-ness to be found anywhere in this hotel. The rooms are big and the beds were such a comfy dream! The iPhone speaker/alarm clock dock was a nice touch too. The bathrooms are spacious, clean, and sleek. Definitely check out the pool/fitness area if you have the time. The pool and hot tub area is filled with natural sunlight and it feels so luxurious. And there's even a sauna too! I'm not too sure about what's in the surrounding area because we were only here overnight for a wedding, but if you need a hotel in this area, this is a FANTASTIC option! read more

Despite a misunderstanding while making reservations and being provided with incomplete information on the amount of safety deposit needed, our stay was amazing. We got a deluxe king room on the 9th floor with a pretty view, and everything was perfect. The bathroom was spacious and clean, provided with so many towels and a bath robe. The room itself had a huge clean bed, many pillows, and a full TV set with a desk and a charming electricity station for all appliances and electronics. We also got two chairs and a small table by the window. All in all it was a great room for about $150 + tax & refundable security deposit. Will definitely recommend it to anyone who wants to spend a night or two in Waterloo while being close to everything (there's Phil's bar and a Cora's nearby). Checkout time is at 11 AM, so be sure to wake up early despite any hangovers! Oh and the pool was so clean and nice!! Take advantage of that! read more

The facility is very clean and gives off a new and fresh vibe. The staff were very courteous. The pool is nice and the gym isn't bad for a hotel gym. They even have some free weights. I would like it more if they had a chin up bar, but for the average gym goer it's sufficient. The parking is easy and the bar is good too. Overall, a very good Delta! Yes, I stayed overnight in Waterloo. I didn't have a choice, and if you find yourself in the same predicament, this is the hotel to stay at. Our room was really beautiful and spacious. We asked for a quiet room and they delivered. The bed was really comfortable although I did find the sheets overly starchy / bleachy feeling. Nice layout of the room, and a large empty fridge if you need it. The woman in front of us at check in was upset that unlike other Marriotts there is only a tub or a shower in your room, so maybe that's a point that needs to be made? I had a business trip planned to this area, so I booked this hotel ahead of time. The next week I heard that the business travel plans had changed, so I tried to get a refund or credit to my account here. The hotel said they have a strict policy for reservations that are booked and paid for ahead of time and decided to not work with me at all. Personally, that is bad business when you are trying to collect money for services never rendered. Yes, I saved a few dollars by paying upfront, didn't realize that the hotel had a strict policy on refunds / credits, and now I'm out over $200 dollars. I will never be staying at this hotel and should figure out a better way to treat your customers. read more

After not only frustrating but extraordinarily rude communication with the delta sales manager while trying to book a block for my wedding, I have found this hotel to have the poorest customer service of all the hotels in Kitchener-Waterloo. On top of difficulties with communication, they quoted their price 60$ above their rate on their own website. After I explained the price was much higher than what we could book online, instead on honouring their price they raised their online price. I would never recommend dealing with the sales management team for anyone having a wedding in the Kitchener- waterloo area. There are other hotels in Kitchener who offer better deals and even a shuttle to the venue which are much more pleasant and experienced in customer care. read more

From the knowledgeable and efficient front-desk staff to the amenities in the room, we thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Delta. The staff was efficient, courteous and helpful and check-in was a breeze. Staff made a few suggestions regarding things to do and see in the area and these were much appreciated even though we were very familiar with the region. The room was absolutely great - we had a full kitchen with a full-size fridge, microwave, coffee maker and dishwasher and a complete set of dishes. I had a great stay at this hotel. The rooms looked brand new with great finishes and art work. The hotel staff was very friendly and professional. Our check in and check out was a pleasure thanks to front desk staffers Alanna and Rohin, who went out of their way to make us feel like valued guests. Alanna was extremely helpful in helping me plan my drive the next day. Rohin was very knowledgeable about the area and went out of his way to greet us when we arrived and left. Firstly parking in this place is a nightmare, small corridors and limited spots. The bed was awful and left us with back pain while the pillows complemented our necks with stiffness in the morning. I'm not sure if this is standard but the light in our room kept coming on throughout the night waking us up multiple times. We have stayed at the Waterloo Delta twice now. We travel a lot and find very few places that have a staff with as good an attitude as the staff at this hotel. The hotel itself is new, has a very nice bar/ restaurant and is very accommodating but the staff is what makes the real difference. read more

No doubt that this is a lovely hotel with beautiful rooms, and if you are a business traveler than this is probably a good place for you to stay while in Waterloo..........BUT, I am a Mom of 4 kids (11 to 16 years of age) who decided to book here because my Mom lives close by. Talk about a 'bait and switch'. I was told that all of us could stay in one room no problem (2 beds + a rollaway) when I booked directly with the hotel over the phone........but lo and behold when we showed up we were told that having 5 people in one room was not allowed. Sorry but you have to book a second room at a premium price. When I asked about a discount because of the misinformation.........no go. Very rude front desk woman...Victoria? Veronica? Anyway, please just be wary because what they tell you on the phone when you book can be VERY DIFFERENT from when you arrive. read more

I'm disappointed to write this review as the actual stay at the hotel was really great. Hotel is clean and modern, staff was excellent. BUT... Two months after my stay, a $541 charge showed up on my credit card. Later that day, apparently realizing it was a mistake, they refunded MOST of the amount. When I called, I got the run-around while they "found someone to help with that." After about 30 minutes of trying, I finally gave up and disputed the charge as fraud with my credit card company. Chase contacted them, but they refused to refund the difference, stating that it was a refund fee (yes they charged a refund fee for refunding an incorrect and fraudulent charge that they made without authorization). Chase didn't think it was worth fighting for the small amount and just refunded the difference to me, but basically the hotel gets away with international fraud (I'm a US resident and was not even in Canada when the fraudulent charges occurred). I've now changed my card number, but apparently the hotel can keep re-using the original authorization to keep adding new charges months or years after the original transaction. Long story short, about 90 minutes of lost time dealing with all of this, and I may have to deal with it again if these cons decide to run more fraudulent transactions on my card. Stay clear until they get some honest people in the business end of things. read more
