I will not return due to the arrogance and microaggressions of the employees. I know my high end designer brands. I own high end designer brands. I do not always go shopping dressed to the nines. Esp to a consignment store sidewalk sale. An employee rolled her eyes when I asked her about the pricing on one of the items. No need for the attitude. While my daughter was waiting to check out, another employee approached a woman standing behind her to take her to a register. That customer asked my daughter if she wanted to go with the employee. That was classy and kind. The employee actually stammered and point my daughter to a register and proceeded to walk the customer to personally ring her up. Needless to say, we will never come back. There are better resale stores on the North Shore: across the street is the YWCA resale, KMK Luxury in Winnetka, Junior League in Evanston, New to You in Glenview, Winnetka Thrift Shop are just a few. I never really looked into it before but I thought Five Below was maybe a lower end clothing store lol. Anyway, it's basically an a-ok dollar store with items priced nominally up to $5. It's a fine store for such and they have a wide variety of items. They may not have the quality of a Hello Tokyo or a Daiso but you get more for your discount dollars here it appears. The kiddos had plenty of fun items to pick from to stay under their $5 budget and they enjoyed their shopping here. My only critique is that many items showed a scan code but no specific price except a sign saying less than $5. I had to ask the friendly and helpful attendant several times what an item's price was and most items we picked were $3.50 or $4 but it would be helpful to show an exact price if possible. I would recommend any discount shoppers check out this a-ok franchise to see if there's a consumer fit for themselves.

I have watched over the years (since 2014) as Bookends & Beginnings has morphed from a dream into beautiful reality, but it is still the product of Nina's mind and her dreams. The new location next to Fountain Square was cut from whole cloth. It began as a large empty piece of real estate all painted in white--a blank canvas!--and was transformed into what it is today: a carefully planned and executed space on two levels painted in dark teal, gold, and white, with a hand-picked selection of over 10,000 books arrayed attractively and intelligently. (Not to mention a reak carousel horse and a giant paper-maché giraffe.) The striking floor-to-ceiling mural, the work of her two graphic-artists sons, presides over the store and is visible day and night. Also they have shapewear, natural hair dye (without all the icky chemicals), detergent (all natural), serums for your hair, spring water facial moisturizers...(Yeah I've been here a lot) I've bought a LOT of stuff here and if you're a member their discounts are major, especially during sales. Member price for a 12.99 set of microwavable/dishwasher safe bowls (which made great gifts) are 6 bucks. I think that's pretty amazing. They're pretty too. And they also have mineral makeup. They carry the brand Wholefood Nutrition...They have sunscreen, powders that prevent alzheimers, assist in diabetes, protect against free radicals, detox, provide natural energy etc... If you want to try any of the products you can, they have a million testers and you can even try out their toothpaste and mouthwash. The special mouthwash they have is crazy. If you use it you can see how much CRAP is actually in your mouth and you spit it out and BAM. It cleans you out so well and it's not all alcoholey. The weirdest but coolest stuff are these glasses of different kinds that you put water in and it's made in a way where it'll give you this positive energy if you drink it. So it's good for your body. They also have pendants and wands you carry with you that do the same thing with the positive energy (all asian stuff obviously) but it's expensive. If you look up about positive energized water and how the molecules look different (overseas in asia they discovered this) the positive energy is effective on a person. Maybe it's a placebo effect, but I'd like to think it's for real. AND IF YOU LIKE COFFEE they have plenty. My favorite is the pansy good tasting coffee (White Cappuccino) which comes in instant packets. I JUST bought a new package which has a ton of little packages in it, and I hope not to drink all of it today. It's truly a delicious drink... I don't know what else to say other than go look inside. I wish they got more business because I'm afraid they'll close down from lack of business and then I'll have to order online or find a salesperson haha.
