What a zoo at Schiphol Airport in Amsterdam. I'm glad Delta was able to provide a boarding pass for me since their partner Transavia Airlines was a major disaster arriving from Spain very late. I was able to get my boarding pass but the next connection in DTW. Service was good and efficient even though many American passengers act like unbehaved children in Amsterdam. No wonder why the Dutch and other Europeans think we act entitled all the time. I'm glad this flight is a Delta A350-900, a brand new plane and not another older AB300 such as Delta's european partner Air France.

Long flight, but great service and Delta One is comfortable. This trip from Minneapolis is on a 767-300, so many amenities are not found.

These damages were observed under real conditions of use, particularly during my return flight on January 2, when the suitcase could no longer be properly closed or secured. Despite repeated exchanges and clear, factual evidence, the Baggage Claims Department maintained that the luggage was "functional." Describing as functional a suitcase that cannot be secured, whose zipper is blocked, and which exposes its contents to a real risk of opening or theft reflects an assessment disconnected from the actual experience of a passenger. My request was nevertheless limited, reasonable, and proportionate: coverage of the zipper repair costs, based on a quote or invoice, without requesting either a replacement or a full refund. This request was rejected, without any independent assessment or alternative solution being offered. Furthermore, I wish to clarify to other customers that Transavia's response provided to me in a private message was strictly limited to the following: "On my end, within customer service, I am unfortunately not in a position to take this matter any further." In other words, no solution, no intervention, and no concrete progress was proposed following this private exchange. The public response therefore gives the impression of active handling, whereas in reality no operational follow-up was provided on the case, despite a simple and proportionate request. In light of this rigid handling, the poor customer experience that resulted, and the many similar reports from other passengers, I simply wish future customers to have complete and accurate information. As such, I strongly advise against traveling with this airline in the event of a baggage issue, given the evident lack of consideration for the customer.

Our check-in experience at the American Airlines desk was deplorable. The desk counter staff was more interested in chatting over their coffee than checking in customers. Once we got everything checked in, they went completely through all of our ID, only to discover that they really didn't need to do that. Our luggage was tossed on the conveyor belt, despite the fact that I mentioned that there were a couple of fragile items in the bags. I absolutely love and adore Amsterdam. I had a morning flight home from Amsterdam and ended up missing it because I overslept. The gate agent called me twice to see where I was. I don't know if airlines normally do this, but I was so surprised to receive a phone call. I felt bad that they were waiting on me. Oops. After having a mini panic attack, I called the customer service line to rebook my flight. Luckily I did not have to wait too long to be connected with a representative. Julie was the rep that helped me, and help me she did. Julie was so nice and patient with me as I was not feeling well. She went through the different options that I had and was just very nice and understanding. She managed to rebook me on the same flight for the next day and get me an aisle seat at no additional cost! I was so relieved that I didn't have to pay a steep fee since it was my own fault for missing my flight. Once everything was rebooked, I received confirmation and had no issues the next morning when I arrived at the airport. I've had mixed experiences with AA, but this particular interaction was awesome. Thank you for the excellent customer service!

This budget airline *will* nickel and dime you to death if you don't pay attention. The bag fee…read morepolicy is convoluted and weird. There are distinctions between a "carry on" and "hand luggage" that dictate the charge for the bag that you bring on the plane. In other words, a regular carry-on bag may be rejected at the gate and force you to check it at additional expense plus a fee for the inconvenience of inconveniencing you. Sure, ticket prices are low so a weekend haunt to here or there with a small backpack (or similar) is a great deal. Once you start having to bring more than clean underwear and your toothbrush, things get dicey. The line to check a bag was long and tedious but paying online prior to arrival at the airport results in a significant discount (50%) and is worth the effort. Do not expect anyone at the departure counter to be happy to see you. Should you want to choose your seat rather than leaving your fate up to an algorithm that is apathetic to your constitution or general ability to tolerate being sandwiched between strangers, the cost will vary. The back of the plane is cheapest. The closer you get to the cockpit, the more it will cost. I mean, you may get lucky and get assigned a seat in the front of the plane. It's more likely that you'll get assigned the toilet, though. We paid around six euros each to choose a window seat in the back. The front row was around twenty euros each. That's each way. So, in some cases, the seat assignment cost and baggage fees could be more than the actual fare. Consider these points when choosing the airline. The seat pitch is only thirty inches so anyone taller than a hobbit is going to need to be a yoga master to be comfortable. While we were in line to check bags, multiple people were turned away from their flight to Barcelona. It was canceled. No reason was given. Apparently, cancellations are frequent and nobody at the airline seems concerned about the impact that such things have on the lives of their customers. If your travel plans are inflexible, I'd suggest booking on another airline. You'll pay for *everything*. There's no free beverage or tiny bag of pretzels. But, there is a menu allowing for purchase (at some hefty markups) of drinks and snacks. Cash and cards are accepted for that can of soda at almost three euros. Just stop at one of the airport shops and buy your own snacks.

As an Emerald member with the one world alliance, I have always received complimentary seat selection on partner airlines. That changed with Royal Jordanian. I paid $140 for two seats that were clearly shown as a two seat row. When my wife and I boarded, we discovered the row actually had three seats. No one pays extra for a middle seat -- ever. My seat number was k6 and the seat has no cushion whatsoever, I had to stack pillows and blanket to prevent back pain Most incompetent company I've had to deal with. Called someone in Detroit to get information about the plane and flight, he gives me another number to call I believe it was in Chicago. I call that number, another person tells me we don't handle this, you have to call another number. Called that number, that person gave me the original Detroit number. I called Detroit back, another person answers and gives me the information I was asking to begin with. Not done yet. I finally check in and get on the plane, plane was gorgeous and flight attendants for most part were very hard working. Half the people on this flight were idiots, loud, arrogant, dirty and bathrooms even after a couple hours in flight were dirty, urine on the floor, clogged up sinks. Absolutely disgusting!!!! Like a fourth world country on a top of the line plane. I will never ever fly Royal Jordanian again!!!! Would rather pay twice as much and get to Amman in 3 days then fly this airline. Rather take any other airline that go through that hell again.

It's chaotic. Then there's the gridlocked passport section itself, with biometric gates only for EU countries, so e-passports from the U.S., UK, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, Japan, etc., get lumped in with all the rest -- unlike at most airports. With only three windows open, it doesn't help that the officials are so darn chatty, either. The place looks rundown, with lots of strange noises akin to someone rolling giant bowling balls upstairs. The climate control is terrible, too. (That might be connected to the weird noises.) Schiphol actually makes Los Angeles International Airport seem not so shambolic -- that's how bad it is.
