Its Hoofddorp's own train station!
On my travels through Hoofddorp and Amsterdam, I traveled on the Sprinter train from the residential area west of the Schiphol airport in Hoofddorp to central Amsterdam at Amsterdam Zuid train station. I had not thought of traveling through train nor that there is train service to Hoofddorp. I am thankful to a friend of mine who lives in Almere and pointed out to that fact. It most likely helped me save a lot of money, so I won't have to stay in central Amsterdam when I didn't have to. The Hoofddorp train station is like any other train station within the city limits of Amsterdam. For those of y'all who love the public transit system and just being frugal with your money, the Sprinter train system connects you from Hoofddorp to all parts of Amsterdam, the Netherlands and beyond.
The Hoofddorp train station is centrally located aMercuriusplein 30
2132 HA Hoofddorp, 3.5km away by Hoofddorp centrum. There is private parking garages here and public buses that will take you through Hoofddorp and the surrounding communities. My favorite route would have been #140. Each train ticket costs about €2.00 per ride, although I probably am mistaken. Just an estimate, I suppose. It's definitely a cheaper alternative than driving! I would have driven a rental car, but it would be bad if I had gotten into a car incidence overseas. That won't be good at all. I was just limited to this one fact. Still, the Hoofddorp train station is a good regional train station that is probably safe and secure. While I only traveled through daylight hours, I felt safe, since this was a residential type of train station, as opposed to an urban type.
The Hoofddorp train station complex doesn't have a way of food vendors or other options you would find elsewhere. Best bet would be to buy it bring something with you before entering the train station. The train station and its several platforms are relatively clean with benches to sit on for the arriving trains. It's pretty cool how there is a departure screen for those platforms, which really comes in handy when you need to know when the train is coming! While the train station is a means of getting to where you are going, it's great that Amsterdam is a green community and having trains throughout the city and here in Hoofdoorp proves that it can be done! The Sprinter train got me to where I need to go and I have no complaints about that!
