Station Halfweg-Zwanenburg is a decent little stop and a really convenient midway point between Amsterdam and Haarlem, but the lack of reliability is frustrating.
The station itself actually has some nice, open views and it's right near the beautiful Spaarnwoude park, which is great. The massive downside is that the lift always seems to be broken. Because of that, you're stuck dealing with a ton of stairs. It makes things incredibly difficult if you're trying to haul a bike up and down, and it's completely inaccessible if you're in a wheelchair.
It gets the job done for a basic commute, but they really need to get the maintenance sorted out for anyone who can't easily use the stairs. read more
