Pre-COVID review…read more Wow, it seems like some people have had really bad experiences with Allegiant. Fortunately I haven't had any awful experiences so far with this budget airline (knock on wood). I've used Allegiant for their nonstop flights to Orlando Sanford and Fort Myers. I personally really like nonstop flights so I try to find them whenever possible. Allegiant is definitely a budget airline where you have to pay for everything, including your seat, carry on, checked luggage, and food and beverages on board. There are no fancy entertainment systems on these planes. I don't really mind that as I typically sleep on flights anyway. I am willing to pay for convenience, and the nonstop flights that Allegiant provides is that convenience. I usually only travel with a carry on so that helps cut down on costs a bit (but you still have to pay for that). Be sure to bring snacks and a bottle for water, as they don't even offer a complimentary cup of water on these flights. A small bottle is $3. On one of the Allegiant flights, my boyfriend and I purchased a cheese and charcuterie package for $6 which was actually very delicious and a great snack for our quick flight. I have more trips coming up with Allegiant (edit: well, I did until COVID happened!) and I intend to book more flights with them in the future.

I know there are few restaurants to pick from and not many shops, if you're into those things. I did like the Founders Brewing location in between the concourses, right behind security. Definitely a nice local touch. If you find yourself flying into GRR, it is a nice airport and very easy to get around.

The agents at the desk were friendly and helpful. The process to board was seem less. The boarding passes were scanned in a rapid fire process. So much so the jetway backed and she had to slow her roll. We were greeted as we boarded the plane with early morning pleasantries and smiles. Our leg was a short segment from Grand Rapids to Chicago midway. As a result no inflight service was done.

I had a flight out of Grand Rapids to Chicago O'Hare International Airport - scheduled for 7:30 pm. They recommended to me to try to get to Chicago on an earlier flight due to all of the flight delays from the storms moving across the midwest. They got me into a great aisle seat on an earlier flight. While it remains to be seen what time my earlier flight actually departs - thank you ladies at the American Eagle ticket counter for being thoughtful and pro-active!

They do not have their crop together. Last week had a delayed flight that stranded me in Chicago. The reason for the delay was catering. My bag was lost on my flight in Friday morning and I did not get it back until 5pm on Sunday. This week, they can not get my reservation correct. It's split on AA and US Airways. I go to AA.COM to check in and it rerouted me to usairways for check in. Once there, it routed me back to AA.COM for check in. I could not get my seats selected, nor could I get my boarding passes. I added my Known traveler number to my reservation at booking, tried double checking online, no luck. I called the reservations number and they assured me it was on the reservation. When I get to the airport, the agent said it was not on the reservation. I asked the agent to add it to my reservation, he said he did not know how. I asked him to ask one of the other agents for help and he said he couldn't ask them. The agent then told me that he couldn't give me all of my boarding passes since it wasn't an AA reservation, but a US airways reservation. I said I have a rather close connection, that's a huge inconvenience. The agents response was, yes, it hasn't been a seamless merger. I told him no, it's been anything but and is messing with people's lives. He said, I don't know what to tell you. I will be doing everything in my power to avoid this disorganized and horrible airline for my future travels.
