One star for creative effort. No stars for actual product. I ordered the distillery salad with pork on top. It wasn't even a full two cups of food. Salads should be three times the size of the one I got if they are going to charge $12!!! Holy cow was I disappointed. Three dollars for not even 1/4 cup of pulled pork? Not only was the food bad, but it took us almost a full hour to get our entrees, which I could make at home using one hand and still be done within 30 minutes. Our appetizer was boneless chunks of chicken that we dipped into sauces and that was the most impressive part of the whole experience. I would never recommend this place to anyone. They are basically just taking advantage of tourists and profiting from their high prices and pitifully small and unimpressive entrees. read more

This is the worst experience I've had at a restaurant. Me and my friends waited 1.5 hours for cold food. Every single item. Then the manager blamed it on a small grill and getting busy. But when we left, the place was pretty much dead. Felt bad for the server because it didn't seem like it was his fault. Convenient if you need a cheap dinner downtown, but nothing about it really stands out. Claims to be family friendly, but the kids menu only had 3 items. The service was ok if a little surly and the atmosphere seemed more than a little forced. Tiny outdoor balcony was inconvenient to get to and not well furnished. My advice after we spent almost a full hour to get our food is to look somewhere else! Waitress was slow probably because they are understaffed BADLY! Got the torte tots and I wasn't impressed. My boneless chicken app was way better I'm sure that came out of a bag that was just put in the fryer. My wife ordered a $12 salad and it had VERY little pork on that actual salad. Also for a distillery they sure do not have many beers to choose from. They are lucky they even got two stars for this review. Overall if is a nice restaurant. It is clean and the atmosphere is comfortable. Good selection of drinks. We liked that the kitchen is open so you can see what the cook is doing with the food. My first drink was a Sprite and Absolut. Extremely weak and my husband's first drink was their house whiskey and Coke which was also weak. He ordered pints after which were quite good he said. I order straight shots of chilled Absolut. Also good. The food came out very quickly which was good. The cole slaw--YUM!! The tots are your typical fried tots but still good. The Cowboy Caviar was not good. Black beans, corn and tomatoes basically. Husband got the Meat Lovers Tots. Very good he said but could use a meat that isn't just pork on the tots. The waiter was a bit slow coming back to ask us if we needed anything and wasn't super personable but he got better as the evening went on. Maybe it was the drinks kicking in. My family and I were excited, heading into our meal here today, because the outside looks great and there were signs promising a family-friendly environment...and then we were so disappointed! The place wasn't nearly as charming as the outside hinted at, and the kids' menu had just three choices on it. My husband and I ordered burgers and both came on an odd ciabatta roll that didn't match the sandwich. His was also topped with a gooey cheese sauce that wasn't mentioned in the description. Wife and I ate their yesterday she ordered the philly cheese steak sandwich and she loved it, I had a bite of hers and have to agree it was delish. I ordered the Buffalo chicken tator tots, the entree isn't exactly what I pictured from the description I read. It was basically a bed of undercooked tots with a small amount of chicken on top of it and covered with buffalo sauce. I attempted to get a fork full of both chicken and tots at the same time...it wasn't happening due to how mushy tots were. I ended up eating the chicken which was maybe 3 ounces at best and then tried of few of the tots...tator tots covered with buffalo sauce is gross. Our waitress asked how my meal was and I said "meh it was OK" she could tell by my tone it was bad. I got 10% off our bill. My recommendation would steer away from their weird Tator tot dishes and order a sandwich. read more

Our family only ended up eating here because the High Rock Cafe was too long a wait, but at the end of our vacation we asked for everyone's list of favorite restaurants and this topped several. Our 13-year-old had the Cajun Shrimp Tots and raved about it. The burgers and Whiskey Prime Rib were popular too. We stopped in here for lunch while walking downtown and the food was outstanding. Tater tot heaven ;-). I had a great pulled chicken sandwich and my wife had amazing "tachos" and the kids loved their buffalo chicken tots. What was surprisingly amazing was the s'mores tots for dessert. Went here for the Clemson and louisville game Saturday night with a group of friends who were largely minority and homosexual. I myself had the hamburger tots as the group tried other various items on the menu. The food was decent. I must say this is probably the worst I had ever felt dining at any restaurant ever with my friends. Our waiter looked so disgusted by us that i thought we smelt like shit. She were sarcastic and was rude for no reason. She even felt the need to show her disapproval of us by scolding at us from the bar. She even swapped tables mid order so she wouldn't deal with us, as if we were beneath her to serve. She wasn't even trying to hide it. The waitress was either a racist or a bigot. It was the manager who were the one that finished serving us. That was a horrible experience. We couldn't get away from the place fast enough. I didn't even finish the first quarter of the game. I went here with my family while on a trip to the dells. While the service was good, I would recommend against going here for food. I ordered the distillery salad, thinking that because it was named after the restaurant, it should be good. I was extremely disappointed. It was a salad consisting only of iceberg lettuce, tomatoes, red onions and guacamole. Yes, guacamole. My lettuce was not cut at all resulting in two large (and inedible) hunks on my plate. My mother ordered a burger, which she rated as a 3/5. The fried food is better, but their tater tots are not that good considering it is their signature dish. Only come here if you are planning on drinking and not eating. There are so many better options available. read more

Fried Buffalo Shrimp is tasty, and they have great specials for drinks on Sundays (make sure you ask bc they don't really tell you when you first walk in). The signature drinks are good, but the atmosphere could use a little more "care" when it comes to preserving the place and what they actually want it to stand for. If you're going for a "distillery / eatery" then announce that and treat your guests as such while they are there. Right now it seems like your bartenders & hostesses are more willing to push a typical Miller Lite / our food is sub-par experience and don't really care about your food at all. We were here 3 different times on 3 different occasions.. so I'm pretty positive w shot the run of this spot. read more

Awful experience. Waited over an hour just to get cold food and my burger was extremely pink and undercooked. I believe if I ate it I'd have food poisoning for sure. We had to ask for chips as they didn't take the initiative to make up for the extremely long wait. The place wasn't even busy. Nobody at our table liked their food, it was clearly sitting out for awhile. I got a burger with a fried egg and cheese curds on it and both were really cold. The manager came out and while she attempted to be nice and apologize, she came across as agitated with our complaints and very unsincere and we basically had to beg for the meal to be comped as no one wanted to eat it. We didn't feel wanted there at all as tourists. Save your money and time and go to Culvers, or Taco Bell even for that matter, yikes! read more

We stopped in for an early dinner and that was the worst decision of our trip! COMPLETELY over priced. I just paid 80 bucks for four people to eat poorly made burgers. To pour salt into the wound their overpriced burgers didn't even come with a side. I have never written a bad yelp review because I know consumers depend on these reviews. My advice? RUN! The deputy was delicious but way over priced.. Food was terrible. I ordered a chicken salad, lettuce was brown almost no veggies. The chicken was dark meat shredded chicken with some strange spice. It was plopped on top and not drained so it was like salad soup. I couldn't eat more than one bite. Husband had Wisconsin burger it was okay typical frozen burger and honestly the quarter pounder at McDonalds is a better option. He had tater tots on the side, hard to mess these up, I ate the majority since the salad was inedible. Even those were not done fully. Very disappointed. The liquor they make and sell is pricey, although it's decent, the prices are not. $40 for a bottle of 1 year whiskey, plus the cook or whoever you see when you first walk in is a big snob. Terrible experience. The waiter was extremely rude to us. He scoffed at our drink selections and even went so far as to belittle our designated driver for only drinking water. Worst food I have had in years. Although I am from Chicago and am privileged to have dined at fabulous restaurants all the time, I came in knowing this would be Dells bar food. I ordered the grilled entree salad trying to be healthy. When I got the salad it was a hunk of romaine lettuce cut in half & with brown wilted leaves. The "toppings" were onions and cut up tomato drizzled with some odd colored dressing. Trying not to be picky I bit into and had to immediately spit it out because it tasted like lettuce that had been left in the sun to rot. I called the manager over asking if I could switch my order, and he was very rude. He responded with "you realize it's a grilled salad don't you? Did you not read what you ordered?" Needless to say awful service and whomever created the idea of placing romaine lettuce on a grill did not think that idea through. read more

2nd time coming here, once a year ago, nothing has changed. They have one beer worth drinking. The food is horrible. Pork torta was freezing, and the pork was gray. The bread, cold and right out of the bag - did nothing with it. What's with crappy Wisconsin food, all the beef and pork up here is grey. The food, tasteless, had to ask for bbq sauce to make it edible. The mac and cheese - kraft. Literally kraft mac and cheese. They may have added some cheap cheese sauce but we know what it is. The Distillery has a nice curb appeal and the inside looks promising. The service was decent. The drinks were not what the menu envisioned. My GF ordered a signature drink and all we could taste was bitters. The nachos were two dimensional and needed more diversity. It was just chips, meat, a little cheese and a couple veggies. Went in and wanted to sit on the patio. They said sit wherever so we wanted to be outside. Went up to the patio and sat and waited 10 minutes. One of the people from our party went downstairs and found a server and she said she would be right up. We then waited another 10 mins. She came out and didn't even know what beers they had on tap. We started to order and we informed her we were there just for cocktails. Her response was "well it would just be easier if you went down and sat at the bar" what!?!? Let me start by saying that until our last trip to Dells Distillery, we LOVED the place. However, this was the first time we actually dined here. I had the Torta Tots, which lacked flavor, came with guacamole paste, pico, cheese sauce and their "famous" pulled pork which was dry and flavorless. My father had the buffalo chicken tots, which came with one chicken strip cut up into four pieces and smothered in sauce. None of the other dishes in our party were anything to brag about either. On top of the terrible food, their "dining" area is just steps from the bar. This would typically be fine, but there was a group of about 8 women stomping around "dancing," screaming the lyrics to horrible songs they were choosing on the juke box and stumbling over drunk. Did I mention it was only 6:00 p.m.? Our table actually had a conversation with the table next to us about why there is an entire upstairs dining area that they don't EVER open up, even when there is a rowdy crowd at the bar. To make a bad situation horrible, I ended up with horrible food poisoning just a few hours after we left. I love this bar for summer nightlife in the Dells, but I will NEVER EVER recommend it as an eatery to anyone I know. EVER. Just don't go! read more
