Love this place! We're not in Slidell too often, but we made it a point to swing by here again when…read morewe were in town! I've only ever had their breakfast here, but they do SUCH a great job, I'll have to come back for their lunches too It's a casual eatery that always seems to be fairly popular. Everything is very reasonably priced, so yummy, and their portions are generous. You'll go home full without completely emptying your wallet I highly recommend their "Poor Man's Benedict" ($10). It's SO good! It comes with their freshly baked biscuit topped with fried chicken and a poached egg, smothered in their homemade sausage gravy. The biscuit is soft, the eggs are perfect, their fried chicken is flavorful and well-seasoned, and the gravy is savory and just makes it feel like comfort food. You really can't miss out on their fried chicken. I know what you're thinking, fried chicken first thing in the morning? Trust me though, it's DELISH and you won't regret it! If you're really hungry, I suggest the "Chicken Fried Platter" ($13). It's very similar to the Benedict, but it comes with an extra side. We tried the hashbrowns and they were yum. Crispy surface and soft on the inside. Just the way I like 'em!

After about 15 minutes, I walked to the waitress station and politely asked for a menu; the response was an eye roll with menus "shoved" at me in an aggravated manner. Regardless, I thanked her. Soon, the same young waitresscame over and took our drink orders (waters) nicely, but then she left the back room where we were seated and did not return! Whaa? I never saw her again, so we have it another 15 min and gave up. We looked for our angry waitress as we walked through to leave hoping she, or anyone, might notice we were leaving, but nothing. The restaurant was crowded and diners seemed happy enough so perhaps we simply got the wrong person in the wrong moments. However, since I'm from out-of-state, this is the impression I will forever have of La Pines Cafe.

We went there on Saturday night after dinner to have a few drinks and dance. Overall we had a…read moregreat time until the female bar tender was rude and had the nerve to ask my boyfriend "what is your problem" and told him he was giving her "attitude " all night. When he responded to her that she was being a complete "Bi@%H", she motioned over to the "security" guy, who aggressively came over to "throw" us out (A group of 6- 3 couples). Let me preface with we had been there for a few hours and had spent a lot of money at the bar and every time we went to the bar the female bar tender was completely miserable. Should my boyfriend have called her out of her name, probably not; however what happened next was absolutely uncalled for and honestly I'm appalled. As my boyfriend was being asked to leave by this time several security employees have surrounded him (mind you we are of no threat to anyone), they began to push and shove all of us out the door, when I turned around and told one of them to calm down we were leaving he pushed me and got in my face yelled "GET OUT -LEAVE". Now when I say in my face, I mean nose to nose. Disgusting behavior. Completely disgusting behavior- If you as a bartender and do not have the mentality capacity to work behind the bar and deal with people drinking, then get another profession. Furthermore, to the Security punks who think they are in the movie Roadhouse, you need some more professional and behavioral training. If you cannot walk over to a human being and ask someone to leave before getting physical you should not be working in this type of environment. I guess we should expect more then what we received since we were in dive bar. No one was refusing to leave, we were happy to leave, there was no need for any of this.
