    Steak & Jollof
    Devin T.

Came here on a random Wednesday evening around 8pm. My friend & I heard about this place because they've gone viral for their food so we wanted to try it. There was an array of different foods. What caught my eye was the Mac n cheese and the lamb chop. That was my first time ever seeing lamb chops that were thick cut. They were $5 per chop. I ordered 3 with the cheesy good Mac n cheese & a cucumber salad. Everything tasted so good! My friend had the steak and jollof rice. The steak was an amazingly tender!

After seeing the viral Tik Tok from imma_eat_this, my best friend and I decided to give Deli Boyz a shot on a nondescript rainy Thursday early evening, since he lives about 2 blocks away. We were surprised to see so many people already waiting at 6PM in the rain -- with the line spanning around the corner to the closest house. Those who were ahead of us told us that the line usually spans much longer, and that they'd come all the way from Westchester to taste the fare. The line had sporadic, and unpredictable starts/stops. What we thought would be a half-hour max, turned out to be a 65 minute wait and a 90 minute ordeal in total to get our food. **Protip: Go with friends and have someone run and get a snack (there's McDonald's and Popeyes nearby) to nibble on while you wait. There was a bouncer handling the crowd, letting limited people in as if this place was having a limited release. Don't worry about cutters, as the locals (especially the elders) will cuss out anyone who tries to play. When you get inside, you realise that the place is super tiny and is run with about 5 people working -- one person handing orders, two people on the grill, one person at the cashier, and the aforementioned bouncer. On the opposite side of the grill is your standard bodega counter. I'm not sure if anyone actually purchases anything other than the hot food. The deli keeps busy and they are actually working super hard, so try to keep that in mind as you wait. The person handling orders had us stand in specific spots in the queue, which I liked, and he gave us a small sample of the goat as a form of appreciation for the long wait. We got two waakyes, one order of steak, and another order of lamb for $60. The waakye was seasoned, but wasn't the style my Ghanaian friend usually makes it, so I can't really judge it. The steak was nice and juicy, though it was cooked much more thoroughly than I'd have liked (I asked for medium-rare, it was a mix between medium and medium-well). Both the steak and the lamb had really good flavour, especially with the green sauce, which is key -- I thought the dijon mustard on the side was a bit overpowering. All in all, the food is completely fine fare and the wait would be acceptable if this was at a restaurant, but I don't know that I would seek out the food even if it WAS in a restaurant. That and the wait makes me think Deli Boyz was another case of overhyped Tik Tok fad.

Stopped in around 11pm about to check it out. Got the rib eye with jollof rice, and mac n cheese. Got the turkey wings and potatoes for the other. 1 Bissap drink, can of 7up, bottle of water and a juice for $70. The prices are not listed inside, their flyer posted here and what I was charged is completely different and off and of course the receipt has everything as 1 custom item. That's definitely a draw back from a service stand point. The portions were large enough to either split into 3 meals or between 2 people. The food was decent. I've had better and I've had worse. I was able to cute the steak with the plastic knife tho.

My order of lamb came with jollof rice and onions. The lamb was seasoned well, tender and juicy. The jollof rice was undercooked and gooey. The flavors just were not there. The onions were too much for the plate and if that was a side, why!!?. I was unsatisfied. My daughter ordered the steak, it was well done seasoned well, tender and juicy. Her jollof rice must've come from the same pot because it was sticky and gooey too and without flavor. Deli Boyz was too hyped by social media. I would recommend their meat only but not the jollof rice. Customer service was undesirable. I asked for an item that was on the menu but due to the crowd, the guy wouldn't make the wrap, therefore I ended up getting that full plate. The ambiance was small and unappealing. The prices are decent.

I must amend already my previous review and bump it up to 3.5 stars for the steak. My second order of steak was more tender, juicier, and must have somehow been cooked to a lower temperature. They need to have a larger grill or expand the use of the grill currently in use to give them more room to grill the meats separately and continue cleaning that grill regularly. The initial social media reviews benefitted from short lines and correspondingly better food preparation. The chefs at Deli Boyz will have to get their processes under control to deliver up to the levels of the social media reviews. At this point, Deli Boyz is not delivering up to those expectations and I would recommend going to Deli Boyz off peak when the line is short and they have time to prepare the food better. If they work out the kinks, Deli Boyz chefs will become a draw for the community and beyond. If they work out the inconsistencies and hone the process, Deli Boyz will stay on everyone's radar. Keep up the hard work. 3.5 stars!

Was driving by and seen this place it's a deli so I was expecting food but while in line I seen someone in front of me get the steak so I decided to get it . Tbh it wasn't the best but wasn't the worst either .. for almost 34 dollars It could have been a little more tasty. I ordered my steak medium well and it more medium rare which I didn't like .. the rice was tasty and big servings . It's not a date spot more of a pick up and go . I would probably try the spot again but not anytime soon . Happy eating

Literally just finished eating lunch from here. Came here on my lunch break as they were opening up so there was no line. They didn't have many of the menu items available , so not sure if certain items are only available on certain days or later on in the day . Went with the lamb , green sauce and jollof rice . Disclaimer , I hate rice any kind of rice , I literally would eat around rice . However , I tasted the jollof and babyyyy , it was so good . My fiancé is not a fan of lamb , however he really enjoyed their lamb. The lamb was so flavorful and the green sauce and onions added some great flavors to the dish . It's a small store , however , the wait time was not long but again we were like the third person there . Oh and we got food leftover as we ordered extra lamb and there was a lot of rice under the lamb.

It is absolutely delicious and the customer service is 5 star.

It is absolutely delicious and the customer service is 5 star The lady who helped us was so sweet. I had lamb chops so tender and seasoned to perfection. The Black Eyed peas are so good, and I mean slap yo mama good. The lamb peanut butter stew oh Madh'allah just a beautiful shop. From California to Harlem, I'm so glad I came here and will forever be back.

Jollof rice with lamb shoulder and sweet plantains

As soon as I walked into Deli Boys there were six people in front of me. I was willing to wait and not let me tell you it was worth it. I ordered jollof rice with 4 pieces of lamb shoulder along with some sweet plantains. I could tell just from the food's aroma that my food was packed with flavor! My mouth was watering from the time I picked up my food and throughout the 45 min drive back home. My daughter and I devoured this delectable meal. I will definitely go back to Deli Boys and try more food!

Lamb chops with onions and chicken Rasta Pasta and amazing green sauce which 30 dollars for this dish
    Javette M.

I want here after hearing about it from my friend. So I decided to go on a Saturday late night/ early morning. I didn't wait long being that it was very late. I got the lamb with the onions and green sauce and the chicken Rasta pasta. Since they didn't have the steak which I really wanted to try with the rice. I Will have to go back to try that. Service was good and the staff were very nice to me. The staff works very hard. The place is a little small. One thing I will say is for the 30 dollars I paid I it's was worth the money. They do give you a lot of food. The only thing I would say is that I feel the lamb should have been a little more cooked. It was good but it was a little tough. I like my lamb to be soft. That sauce is outstanding. If the lamb would have been more cooked it would have been perfect. Great seasoning on the Rasta pasta that was delicious but I will definitely go back to try the other stuff they have.

We went around 2pm the line was decent about 5 people ahead of us. It's like a typical Deli style spot be mindful it's a grab and go spot not a sit in. Staff was friendly everything on display looked good. Regular shoppers kept suggesting the green sauce which I do appreciate because it was delicious. We got lamb on the grill with the green sauce, white rice onions, peas & carrots, rasta the pasta with chicken , mac & cheese, Stew lamb in brown sauce (Sorry I forgot the name). The food was delicious I'm just not a fan of the Stew Lamb in the brown sauce. The portions were pretty decent and generous, Services quick.

    Ribeye, jollof rice
    Alex M.

Ribeye with the green sauce and onions was good. Green peas were a little on the sweeter side. First time having jollof rice. It was good. Steak, rice, peas & Snapple was $51.17 It was busy and they didn't really communicate prices that welll. They don't have a menu posted anywhere. It's a little confusing. Store was clean ish. I might return.

Nothing fancy, just delicious food for an unbelievable price. When you walk into this large spacious "cafeteria" with steam trays, it looks clean and quiet. There was a lady at the cash register that wasn't too helpful, but I guess the communication barrier played a part. At $8.99 per pound, you can really fill up here for an insanely good price. My favorites have been the beef dishes and therefore often skip all the chicken items. However, feel free to make a plate anyway you like. At the end of the day, I'm sure it'll be great.

The spicing can be quite different from other styles of cuisine, but whether or not you like it is a personal decision. I liked most of the food that was offered. I found the baked chicken to be excellent. The stewed chicken and the goat dish were also very good. Vegetables are all excellent...from greens to cabbage to carrots...all are delicious. The whole fish has a distinctive strong taste that took some getting used to...perhaps a lot of paprika and red pepper, but I'm not really sure...certainly a nice portion size. Staff is very friendly and hospitable. Highly recommended.

This spot is located inside an African museum. It is a small place when you walk in. The food is all cooked and laid out on trays. I asked the attendant what is the best dish and he asked if I want spicy or not. I said no spicy and he made the chicken bowl recommendation. The bowl was delicious ! Rice was cooked al dente, chicken juicy, beans so tender and topped with plantains! I have not been a fan of plantains but this one was delicious. And flavor profile was strong and hearty. My fiancé ordered a Yassa Yassa Grilled Chicken Bowl and I ordered a custom bowl. The delivery was very quick and it got to where we were faster than I expected which was a plus. Service was very good! I got a call saying one of the sauces I wanted was out unfortunately but they were helpful in providing me with alternatives. The Yassa Yassa bowl was very delicious, full of bold flavors, and a beautiful contrast between the spicy aromatic jollof, the sweet plantains, and the tangy onion sauce. The chicken in this bowl was definitely a little overdone and could have used more flavor. For my custom bowl, I got a chicken suya bowl with jollof as my base, plantains and the kale stew (Efo riro ) as sides and initially wanted the peanut (mafe) sauce which they were out of so I also tried the yassa or onion sauce. My bowl was absolutely delicious! Same bold flavors as the first bowl but the chicken was juicy, tender, and well spiced. Made all the difference! Both came with a nice chimichurri like spicy sauce called rof which I really enjoyed since it added a spicy, herbal, bright kick to the bowl. This place has amazing flavor and is very filling! I love the fast casual nature of it and how nourishing it feels. This is basically a Chipotle but West African inspired. The portion of meat was very generous in each bowl which was nice. The jollof was amazing! Highly recommend trying one of their suya meats since the seasoning is incomparable! Will be going back again for more bowls in the future.

Then, moments after a table left they moved us and merged tables so we could comfortably dine. This was so intelligent and comforting imo. Most managers/owners would be afraid to do that, but when you're dealing with mom & pop cultured businesses they make you feel a part of the village so make it work for everybody to eat & enjoy. They handled it professionally and with respect to the customer as we listened in to how they managed. They were fast, helpful, on it from entry to exit! I appreciated the cushioned seating.
