I have a small company with 7 employees. A friend asked me to switch from ADP to AdvantEdge HR. It…read moreis a very small company, but I thought maybe because it was small and local it would be a better fit. I was wrong! It started off ok, even though the online platform for payroll was not as user friendly as ADP. When one year was nearly completed I compared again the pricing with ADP and saw we could save enough to justify a change. It would mean going back to an easier platform as well as taking advantage of some new services. Once we made the change I received a call from Michael, the owner, who asked me what the issues were and why we switched back to ADP. He took an angry stance with me calling me unethical (for not giving him a heads up that we were switching), and then said in all his years in business he has never had any company switch back to either ADP or Paychex. He then wished me well (after calling me unethical). I calmly told him it was nothing personal, it was just an easier platform at ADP and we could save a little money. After our switch, we needed information from him, but he removed our online access immediately, making it very difficult for us to obtain the needed information. I then noticed our bank account was charged twice for payroll fees at approximately $80 for each. I emailed Michael to ask the reason for the double charge or if it was a mistake. He responded that we ran two payrolls. I asked my partner if that was so, since he handled payroll from week to week and he told me he forgot to include one employee for a check. My partner said he called AdvantEdge and was told no worries! So that extra check counted as a payroll and cost us $80. I would recommend going with a company like ADP where it's large enough that people don't take a switch like this personal and then make life difficult for your company to do what's needed for your business.
