a menu for a mexican restaurant
Yochanan H.

I have never had an issue with this location, because it is clean, and the staff is friendly and positive. The manager came out to strike up a conversation with people; even with sit down restaurants, the majority of managers and owners tend to stay hidden in the back. He asked us our opinion about other locations, in which I mentioned that this location matches those out in California. Also, in my opinion, their Dearborn location needs to be closed, because it's dirty, rude staff, slow service, and the clientele is ghetto. I did mention that we'd wish they'd explore other territories like Southern Ohio, and Louisville and Lexington, Kentucky; because that other chain as no competition. Next, in regards to the ingredients, as far as I am aware nothing is "just add water," as it is with the other fast food Mexican restaurant. For example, their refried beans actually have real pinto beans, not entirely mashed pinto beans. While Del Taco is kind of more pricey compared to that other place, it appears to be less processed and contain less sodium. On a side note, this location was right across the road for that other chain. It was totally empty, but not this Del Taco. Bottom line, if Lexington had a Del Taco option, I won't bother with anything else, and neither would the rest of my family. At that, people always talk about the west coast, In-N-Out Burger, but neglect to mention Del Taco. Again, it's a better choice, but sadly, on the east coast, we don't have another option. Perhaps, Taco John's will expand, we shall see.

Their food is the best for franchise Mexican and burgers. Their guacamole is fantastic. Prices are great. They are fast, food is reasonably priced. Usually have a great meal, tonight not so much. The fries are undercooked and my burger looked like it tried to escape. Again, it's always good. But tonight was a miss

I get the grilled chicken tacos and quesadillas all the time. I love their tender, garlicky chicken that is better than the Bell.

I didn't think you can go any lower in quality than taco bell, but Del Taco pulls it off. How is it that they can serve 39 cent tacos?

Popeyes Louisiana Kitchen - New Honey Lemon Pepper Wings

We recently hosted an annual picnic for our family association, and for our main course was an old…read morefavorite, fried chicken! Although my usual "go to fried chicken" is Church's Fried Chicken, we decided on Popeye's Louisiana Kitchen because they could provide an order for 200 pieces of chicken, some sides and boxes to serve our chicken, and their price was very competitive. My biggest complaint about Popeye's was the size of their chicken pieces. Heck, I've had Cornish Hen legs and thighs that were larger than my local Popeye's offerings. But, at the picnic Popeye's Chicken was fantastic! Their chicken, legs, thighs, breast, and wings were comparable to anything KFC or Church's provides. And more important, everything tasted delicious! Although I prefer the dark meat; a drumstick or thigh, the breast was surprisingly moist and tasty! I've ordered chicken from other Popeye locations and their chicken was very disappointing. But this location must have a secret receipt! Bottom line, our family picnic was a roaring success, mainly due to the great food Popeye's provided. I would be remiss if I didn't comment on the efforts of this Popeye's location's management and employees. They performed above and beyond to ensure that we received our food order on a timely basis. Although our order was about an hour late due to some employees not coming in last Sunday, the store manager and two employees were fantastic. Due to their efforts, our annual family picnic memorable. Therefore, for the quality and taste for their fried chicken, I give this Popeye's location: 5 STARS. And to the employees and management of this Popeye's location for their efforts to ensure a successful picnic: 5+ STARS

Khan's Hot Chicken - Slider with tender. The Khan's sauce was really good!

Pros: The slider & tender combo and lamb rice platter were really good…read more Cons: The food took quite a while to be prepared. The person taking care of us was not friendly and seemed as if he didn't want us there. The restaurant was very dirty. As another reviewer mentioned, they could use a soda fountain or bottled beverages (something larger than a can). With so many other good chicken restaurants in the area, they would need big changes to get me back.

I had no clue this place was even here and that it opened about a year ago. What a bad yelper I am…read more How did this place get by me? Anyway, I was hungry at work and didn't want the lunch I'd brought in during my morning commute, and wanted to get out of the office, so I had to scour for food that wasn't Wendy's. This is when I discovered Khan's Hot Chicken, literally within walking distance from Macomb Community College. Off I went and walked into a cute little restaurant that's well decorated. Their prices and menu selection are comparable to Dave's Hot Chicken (I looked on the internetz before I left) and I really liked the selection here. I went with the single slider with fries, but it didn't come with a drink. That was a few extra dollars, but it was canned pop instead of fountain pop. Also, they have bottled water here and nothing in a cup from behind the counter, FYI. The man told me it was going to be 15 minutes before my order was ready which seemed like a long time to me, especially since I only have a one hour lunch. The order seemed to take a bit longer than anticipated but I did not say anything. Worst case scenario I take my leftovers back to the office and eat them later or tomorrow for lunch. When the order came out they threw in an extra piece of chicken due to the wait! WHAT! Fantastic. They have a thousand island style dipping sauce here that you can dip the chicken and/or fries in that's really good no matter how you cut it. Fries are delicious on their own and slightly seasoned and a good amount is given. The food here's fabulous and I would gladly return again to eat. So, why did I dock a star? First, they need fountain pop or something. It's a lot of food to choke down and not have more than 12 ounces of water or pop. Secondly, there's no napkins on the table, and you have to run to the counter to get them. Plus, they're super thin napkins and not quality. The food can be a bit messy to eat (not in a bad way) and I went through half a zillion napkins trying to not get the sauce everywhere. I really really like it here and they do make everything fresh to order. Quality and price are on point, overall a fabulous place for a good solid quick meal.

Holy Cow - Seasoned fries

This experience crossed a line…read more My girlfriend and I were genuinely excited to try Holy Burger because they advertise a full plant based menu and even offer gluten free buns. That combination is hard to find, so we were genuinely excited. Before ordering, I specifically asked if a gluten free bun could be used with a plant based sandwich. I was told yes. During ordering, I also clearly stated multiple times that we are vegan and everything needed to be plant based. Every vegan knows when you are in a place that serves both, you confirm multiple times. Despite that, I was served real meat. Both my chicken sandwich and my burger were not plant based. After taking a bite (I haven't eaten meat in 16 years), I noticed something was off and asked for clarification. I was initially told it was both gluten free and plant based. When I pointed out that my chicken patty and my girlfriend's chicken patty looked completely different, the answer changed. Only then did the employee realize the mistake and say it was gluten free, not plant based, as if those are interchangeable. They are not. If I had accepted the initial answer, I would have continued eating meat. Like halal, this is ethical. It is not a preference. If you are going to market to vegans and people with dietary restrictions, you need to understand the difference and get it right. What made it worse was the response. There was no real apology, just a casual "that's what you ordered," which wasn't true. I had clearly communicated my order multiple times. I declined the remake because at that point I didn't trust the food. I was told a refund was issued, but I have not seen that reflected yet. We spent about $60 for two people, which makes this so much more upsetting. This is not just a simple mistake. For vegans, this is ethical. Being served meat after clearly ordering plant based is not a minor error, it is a complete breakdown in trust. It left me physically sick, and honestly still does thinking about it. When you serve both meat and plant based options, there should be clear safeguards and employee training in place to make sure this never happens. That did not happen here. If you are vegan, I would strongly caution against eating here.

This spot has quickly become my go-to when I'm craving "fast food" style meals. So far, I've tried the gluten-free chicken tenders, cheeseburger on a gluten-free bun, seasoned fries, and even their gluten-free cookie. The chicken tenders are especially delicious; once home, I like to drizzle honey and dip them in barbecue sauce, which takes them to the next level. The seasoned fries are always perfectly crispy and flavorful. I'm not a fan of their gluten-free bun or gf cookie but I think I just have to get used to eating things without gluten in it now. The staff has consistently been friendly and helpful. While the seating area inside is small (making it more of a takeout spot), there are a few tables if you'd like to dine in. There's also a small bathroom available and a convenient ordering screen in the lobby for quick service. Overall, this is a solid place for gluten-free comfort food; whether you're in the mood for burgers, sandwiches, or chicken tenders. I've already been several times, and I'll definitely keep coming back!

They are located next to a gas station which comes in handy if you also need gas. I order the number 1 and my son ordered the pizza burger. Both were very filling and delicious. The original burger was cooked perfectly and the bun was pretty good. The onions and pickles were so good and I don't usually like pickles. I didn't try the signature sauce as I'm not a fan of thousand island. But many people will enjoy it the way it's suppose to be made I'm sure. The pizza burger was pretty cool. It had 3 nice sized mozzarella sticks on them and pizza sauce. We wanted fries and they only come in one size. The one size is big enough to share. We were suggested the lemon pepper fries and that was such a great suggestion. They are fresh cut fries and you can tell. I was happy they had regular fries and not the battered crispy ones a lot of place do. So they definitely will get 5 stars for the fries alone. It has some seating inside, but most people seem to get carry out. The men at the counter were so nice in helping us. They really suggested things we would like and we did. I will be glad to give them my business again.

The sandwich originated in Chicago, so I like that Matt & Mo's has a replica of Wrigley Field's ivy wall. On the flip side, I didn't like being charged a 4% fee for paying with a card. My wife ordered a pepperoni pizza puff along with French fries. The pizza puff fell apart too easily, and was basically a larger version of a Totino's pizza roll. The fries were standard. With my sandwich, I ordered poutine. The consistency and flavor of the gravy made the poutine much better than average. As for the Italian beef, it did not disappoint. I regret getting just sweet peppers, as I should have gotten either hot or mild peppers with the sweet. I did get the whole sandwich dipped in au jus, which was the right move. This was my first time having an Italian beef, so it's hard to judge, but I definitely enjoyed it. Next time, I will bring cash to pay, and might even try some of the other menu items. I look forward to trying Doug's Delight, as well.
