They are the BEST! I love the time they take to listen to the customer and take the time to help what fits you. I stopped coming here because I moved out of state and have tried other places but keep coming back to them because they truly care about their customers. If you ever don't feel they are giving you 5 star just give them a call and I'm sure they will make sure it is a better experience. They are friendly and keep you updated on what is going and love them! I always choose them first and it's a shame they aren't doing trunk shows or specials events because those were my favorite. Love the staff - efficient and pleasant to work with. The staff is great about not rushing you to just "buy" glasses that you may or may not need just because your insurance covers it. They take the time to let you explore and offer suggestions - every once in awhile you may find deals but rarely happens. So take advantage when available. Went there the other day. Pretty good store. They accept VSP and EyeMed I know for sure. The website also states that they accept Medicare, Davis Vision, Cole Vision, Eyefinity, EyeMed and many more. The store is open late on Tuesdays and Thursdays. They are closed on Weds and Sundays. There is a pretty good selection of frames as well as prescription sunglasses. I remember they had Calvin Klein, Coach, Kate Spade, Nike, Oakleys and many more! In addition to the frames on display, there are also frames in the drawers below. The prices the same as other places. I thought it would have been marked up being that it was in a good neighborhood and it not being a chain store.. but it wasn't! Dr Hashimoto and Lori were very helpful. I tried on half the frames in the store, but could not find one that matched my face. When I asked the Lori to help me, the first one she picked out was the actual one I went with. She did pick out 5-6 more, but I went with her first pick. She's good at what she does! I would recommend this store to other people. At first, I gave the store five stars, but I'm changing it to four. One of my friends made an appointment there. The store called to reschedule twice because the doctor didn't show up. read more

Dr Jenny Sung is my new optometrist. I've been looking for one on the westside lately, and finally found one, due to being on my last pair of disposable contacts. Jenny is very easy to talk to and explains everything she is doing. She also takes the time to meticulously go through the exam, which is especially nice because I have pretty bad eyesight. When you have such bad eyesight, you definitely have to check out the details more carefully since a lot more things can go wrong with stuff stretching and being shaped weird. Anyway, the office is clean and neat and the staff is also very helpful. If you're looking for an optometrist on the westside, make an appointment with her! I had a great experience with the doctor when I saw her however when it came time to pick up my frames I was helped by someone named Cindy. I was called that my glasses were ready and I was very excited because I literally haven't been able to read at night without them. I got there, and was given the completely wrong frames after waiting 2 weeks for them to be ready. When I said they were not the right ones, all she did was laugh. I asked how this could be possible and do they not double check the orders before calling and she looked at me and said "no." Luckily I was able to get a refund but I will never be back. I had a friend with an equally horrible experience and they got her prescription wrong! Do not come here. They are extremely rude and don't even give you what you need! read more

This was my first visit here. I am very happy that I chose this office. It has been four months since I went to get a standard eye exam and I still carry with me memories of the wonderful experience I had while at Del Rey Optometry. Since my eye doctor retired, I decided to research on Yelp and I chose this office based on reviews. Each phase of my experience made me feel as if they had my best interests. I called and made an appointment and was greeted by a very friendly and informative person helping me understand the kind of exam I could have. At this office, they offer both the eye drops and/or the technological tests with snazzy computers. I did not have to wait long before I was ushered into the first room. The assistant had me look through several machines that checked the health of each eye - stigmatism, glacoma, and also took a picture of the inside of the eye. It was a higher co-pay but well worth it. No bleary eyes after getting drops and the computers helped me see what my eyes look like on the inside. The assistant was very throrough, professional, and spoke to me as an individual and not as just someone going through the system like the last one or the next one, or the one after that. I liked that. Next, I went into a room where another assistant came and made preparations until the optomologist arrived. We had a great conversation about eye sight and the effects of working on a computer. She was very engaging, pleasant, and made me feel as if I was the only one that they were seeing today. A very rare quality in the medical world. The doctor, Anna M. Pennino, O.D. arrived and she commanded the room with a gentle confidence that comforted me and placed me in awe. She pulled up the photos that they had taken of my eyes. She explained what she saw. I asked her about what to expect as I age? I asked a lot of questions about glasses and the differences between reading and computer glasses. Dr. Pennino let me try on her glasses to also understand progressives. The office told me about a sale for glasses but never tried to hard-sell anything onto me. Dooctor and staff were exceptional. read more

[update] - Your information is only partially correct and incomplete as the problems have stemmed over two visits, 3 years apart. For me, the matter is resolved as I have moved on. My only desire was to let people here know that your stated objective is not true. You really only care about how you are perceived to be helping your clients, not in actual customer service, as noted by more than a few people here. If you are not willing to change your customer service practices, then the issues will never be resolved. I watch peoples feet ... not their lips. And, BTW, there were no voicemails left concerning the delivery of my glasses, which really was just straw that broke the camel's back, as the one thing that you can do, is let your clients know that their over-priced glasses are ready. Again, your message here is merely a veiled attempt to show customer service. If you want to really serve your clients, you will take and incorporate the feedback given to you, rather than just "explain" with excuses. I discussed the matter at length with your office manager. Only got excuses and no resolution. I took the time to write a full report via your feedback survey, which you did not even attempt to read before you engaged me here on Yelp asking me to once again describe the situation. I did get 2 voicemails from you last week. Forgive me if I do not want to waste any more of my time explaining it again to another person in your office. [end update] I love supporting local businesses. I vote with my wallet. This one I've tried now twice ... and both times have been very frustrating. In short, there is no customer service. And, when you bring it up to the staff, even the so-called manager, it is excuse after excuse, with no inkling that they are going to do anything about it. Awesome Help from the optometrist and will be using them for my permanent eye doctors. I was having a virus in my eyes and was having some weird stuff going on and I kept having to go in for more medication or check off's and they were really accommodating, and really fast and efficient. I like that there are small mom and pop doctor (I think) but I like the idea of going to a small business. They were really useful and really decently priced. Will be back soon. read more

I went to Del Rey to try on a pair of glasses. That's it, just try on some frames. They wouldn't let me try them on without filling out a customer info card. Here we are a year later and they wont stop sending me spam email from multiple addresses. I replied unsubscribe, I called and asked to be taken off the list, I've tried everything and they keep spamming me. It's worth noting that their emails never have unsubscribe links which is a violation of the Can-Spam act. I will never do business with them after all the unscrupulous tactics they use for marketing. read more

So I had recently had some bad luck with getting a poor eye exam/wrong prescription from a different eye doctor in another state, when I explained my frustrations and needs to the team here, they generally cared and figured out exactly what went wrong and got me a perfect pair of glasses! I have never had an eye doctor ask me so many questions and care enough to do that. Also my previous eye doctor didn't even tell me the crizal anti-glare lens come with a 2 year manufacturers warranty, or warn me they warp in high heat in your car. Del Rey on the other hand did warn me of this. They simply do everything right here and the prices are low. Look no further and go check them out! read more

Decided to try this place out since they are walking distance to where I live, and I was not disappointed. I was welcomed by friendly people at the front desk and the woman who did my pre-testing was very nice and thorough. I felt that the doctor spent ample time with me, listening to my concerns and explaining changes in my prescription. The optician listened to what I wanted in a new pair of frames and was patient as I tried on different frames and helped me pick out a great pair that I didn't even know would be possible with my high prescription. The glasses came back in good time and I was amazed with how thin the lenses were. I love my new glasses! read more

If I could leave 100 stars I would! I've been coming here for 17 years and I've always had the best experience. I'm only reviewing this location, not the sister stores. Del Rey Optometry in Playa Del Rey are always accurate in my prescriptions, they take the time to talk to me and sit patiently with me as I choose from all of their awesome frames. They have a great range of pricing for their frames; they have basic all the way up to high-end lenses. They will take the time to explain the differences, go over the financials, and are always very understanding of any concerns. They also do specialized eye tests which I require for medical reasons. They are kind, knowledgeable and patient. And always put the customer first. I don't see that anymore and it's really sad. I will continue to come to this office as long as I'm alive and have eyes that work! Special shout-outs to Carol, Lori & Dr. Pennino (but everybody is great there)! read more

The customer service has declined. A few years ago, I had a great experience with them. However, recently, not so much. I went in for eye exam, which was fine. I then waited to get frames. I waited 15 minutes and was then told it would be awhile? Cut to 2 months later. I thought I would give them another try when they were less busy. I was helped within a few minutes. Took 30-45 mins trying on frames and sorting out insurance, etc. I was told it would be a couple of weeks. That was over 4 months ago. I never heard from them. read more

Super pricey but they do have a good stock and the optometrists are thorough. They try to upsell you on several tests that are not covered by insurance though. Of course, more upselling on lens protection, tinting, glare coating, etc etc so that even with insurance you will pay a lot. Glasses take at least a week to get so if you are in a rush to have them you'd be better off at Lenscrafters. Staff is nice and very accomodating to appointment changes. read more

I came to this place with an eye emergency that I had accidentally ripped off my eye skin taking my contact lenses off (I know ouch ....) it was not my first eye emergency visit but the first time at this optometry. was seen by dr Lin and she was so patient and helpful and detailed on making sure that I know what is going on, to make sure that she has the right diagnosis and she made sure that I got my medication and did not pay over the price for them and she truly cared. Her personality is awesome and she is extremely professional and knowledgable. I have had my share of doctor visits and they were supposed to be top of the line from doctors in Beverly Hills surgeons from Miami and offices all over the valley no one had ever cared as much as dr Lin ..... So ya I came back for contact lens renewal and she was still awesome and took her time with everything .... :) she is the definition of what a doctor should be and she rocks . Btw did I mention they carry salt glasses because I had a pair of salt sunglasses that no one could fix because of it's missing part and since they carry them, they fixed it for me :) read more
