Our cat shaved with the sores.

If I could give negative stars, I would. We have been bringing our cat here for 16 years. Over a month ago, we brought her in for a nail trim and they told us she was due for vaccinations. We said ok because we're not vets so we trusted that they knew what they were doing. However, this sent our cat into complete misery within a week with a fever and covered in painful sores all over her body. We brought her back in and they denied that it could have had anything to do with the vaccines and instead gave her a dose of antibiotics, and steroids (which we later found out could have killed her as she has a heart condition), and told us it was an infection caused by something unrelated. At one point they even suggested it was cancer, as if that would happen overnight. She continued to get worse, so we brought her in a second time, and they told us there was no possibility it had anything to do with the vaccines and LAUGHED when she said it would take us eight months to get into a vet dermatologist (with no offer of a referral). Thankfully, we found an incredible vet office who saw us within a week and were kind and competent (complete opposite from what we had just experienced). The specialist took a biopsy of our cat's sores (without anesthesia, which del mar had suggested they use on a 16 year old cat with a heart condition) and confirmed that she had an auto immune disease (Pemphigus Foliaceous) flare up that was drug induced. It turns out that this is a very uncommon but not unheard of reaction to medicine, and in this case, from the vaccines. The proper thing to do by del mar would have been to help us report this to the FDA and obviously to have shown the slightest amount of care for our cat. Instead, they did neither of those things, and we got no callback from the doctor to check on our cat. Today, we had an appointment to see the doctor to confirm with them what we know now from a specialist and to have everything be put on our cat's file so that something like this never happens again. Again, as might have been expected at this point, they denied any possible relationship between their "care" and her misery, even in the face of a professional opinion from a dermatology specialist. $4,000 later, the doctor, Dr. Brooks McMahan, would not even come into the room. Paula, the vet tech, was completely dismissive and condescending. In a few words, our experience here was horrific, unprofessional, and caused completely unnecessary pain to a sweet 16-year-old cat, and to our family. We will NEVER be returning and we suggest others do the same. * I have attached photos of our cat's sores and how she looked when they laughed in our faces and told us "good luck" finding a specialist. and I have also attached the diagnosis from the specialist.

Have been looking for a Vet since moving to Aptos.. thinking, a House call Vet would be best.. WRONG!!!! Then found Del Mar Pet Hospital...5 stars! Began with reception, who was accommodating, and knowledgeable! Can't say enough about Jennifer, my appointment was at 8:45, I walked out at 10:00am. She addressed all my concerns regarding my Ragdoll's bx, and possible medical issues. More important, and made very clear, she was not rushed, took it slow, as she attempted to earn trust with a "Grumpy Cat". If your looking for a solid Vet, who takes her time with years of experience.. try Del Mar Pet Hospital... Thank you Jennifer!!!!! Olive

From the tips of her ears to the ever snapping tips of her toes, the folks at Del Mar always take sweet care of my girl Penny. Not only in front of me, but I heard them cooing over her in the back too! Going to the vet is never a "fun" experience but I enjoy every visit, and remarkably, Penny does too! Thanks to the entire crew for always making the "dreaded vet" a true delight.

Excellent for a quick, drop in dog/cat vaccination clinic every Tuesday night. I usually go to Pet Pals for their Saturday "low cost vaccination" clinic but I needed just ONE shot *and now* so I went. I already have a vet but he was not around that day either.....so this did the trick. I got there at 7pm per their recommendation (the lady behind the counter told me that the first in line at 6pm? is not necessarily faster and I would agree) and I was in and out. I think it was $27 for my dogs DHCCP booster (or whatever it is called). I still will go to Pet Pals for my other shots.....but, it is tempting to go here because I can check in, tell them we will be sitting outside on the bench when they are ready for my dog....and.....it just went a lot quicker than our Saturday morning booster routine. My dog forgave them for the shot when they gave him a treat. (and heaven knows we do not want an upset Schipperke)

My specialty is adventure outings, where I take a small pack of well-behaved dogs out to a nature beach to run around and play. I pick them up from their home, supervise them having a great time, and towel dry them before bringing them back home. If your dog isn’t trained off-leash and you’d like for them to be, I can help! I use positive reinforcement and consistency to make progress. The first step is to build trust and a bond, and to show that coming out with me will bring great fun and rewards. When the time is right, I can slowly start to allow them to have more freedom, while training vital recall skills. If you feel your dog isn’t a candidate to go off-leash, I can also do leashed hikes, neighborhood walks, drop-ins and pet transportation to vet and grooming appointments. I have experience with newborn puppies all the way to geriatric and special-needs. Other places that we tried weren't successful in addressing our pup's anxiety and social issues. I'm so glad that we discovered Canine Corral. Our pup gets excited as we drive into the parking lot and she greets the staff with fast tail wags and licking! Those are positive behaviors that are so apparent and cannot be denied. With my wife and I, he was the Biggest love bug. So cute, and funny, and cuddly. But we can only imagine the terrible experiences he had endured. He had a scar atop his head and was very nervous around new people, which led to behavior like growling and snapping at times. His fear was only made worse by social distancing and not being around new people. Once Covid settled a bit we sought out a trainer for him. I'll never forget the first days Dawna and Megan came to the house. Our pup growled and was very displeased that these strangers were in his space, and worse, trying to interact with him. They weren't a bit deterred, which I was impressed by but I remained skeptical. Fast forward something like 2 weeks: Megan was his Absolute best friend. Dawna interacted with him with ease on training days and he loved receiving love and pets from her. We couldn't believe it. He joined the Canine Corral doggy daycare and just blossomed. He Loved his new doggy friends and the daycare staff. Every time we would pick him up Megan would rave about his behavior and his new friends and how much fun he had. And I already knew because I watched him on camera constantly. We flew home for Christmas once and he stayed at Canine Corral. We were able to travel worry free because we knew he was at his happy place. Dawna, Megan, and the staff gave him a place to be goofy and have fun and receive all the loves. Dawna taught us how to train him and he was able to meet all kinds of new people and doggy friends on our outings. We are forever grateful. We only had 2 years with him. Cancer. I knew I would get emotional writing this review, which is why it has taken so long. Dawna and Megan changed our lives. We will be forever thankful for them. I couldn't recommend Canine Corral enough.
