Hi, I have a 2012 Lexus CT 200h with about 150,000 miles. I've noticed that it doesn't accelerate as quickly as it used to, although there are no unusual noises or warning lights. I'd like to have the recommended 150,000-mile maintenance done and also have the car checked to see what could be causing the slower acceleration. I'll be working nearby during the day, so I was wondering if I could drop the car off in the morning and pick it up after work. Could you let me know if you have availability and give me an estimate for the inspection and maintenance? read more

Del Mar Automotive is a great repair shop in Del Mar. Todd, Chris, Josh, and Rob are all awesome people and excellent at fixing cars. Plus, they are all friendly and honest about the required repairs and cost. Todd was nice and honest to tell me about going to Charlie's Foreign and Domestic Auto Repair when I was having suspension pump problems with my SL500 Mercedes. This is why I have been a loyal customer of DM Auto for almost 30 years!! Encinitas Foreign and Domestic Auto Repair was ripping me off and was not even able to fix my car even though they charged me way too much for their incompetent service and gave up on fixing my car. Charlie's Foreign and Domestic Auto Repair fixed my car for less money and it is still running great more than 2 years later. read more

They took my car in right away although extremely busy & diagnosed and fixed the problem quickly. My car runs beautifully now. I was amazed at their knowledge, professionalism, courtesy, and patience in explaining everything to me and keeping me updated. It also was more affordable than I had expected. It was really an incredible experience that put me at ease, and I would highly recommend this great team! read more

Excellent service. Quick turnaround and very knowledgeable crew. Def recommend, we had a broken pulley and power steering pump and they fixed it for even less than they'd quoted. read more

In area moving my daughter in. They took care of a minor issue for them, but you know as a car owner no issue seems minor, quickly while putting me at ease. I have peace of mind knowing she is in good hands read more

This is the absolute best place to go for anything car related. They have fixed multiple different cars for me with honest and fair prices. Excellent customer service. The value of this establishment is truly the best I will not go anywhere else even though I live in Oceanside preferred driving my car to these gentlemen. Thank you for your service and I can't give you enough appreciation. read more

I was coming from out of town for an event at the fairgrounds and on my way here my car started to overheat. The gentleman at the auto shop were able to assist me very quickly, ordered parts, and had me on my way within 24 hours. They were super friendly, helpful, and honest in their assessment of the vehicle. read more

For the "Artificial Intelligence" reply below. Diagnostic fee or not, that doesn't change the fact that Chris needs some brushing up on his customer service skills. (Along with ripping off customers for $2K repairs). But, possibly understandable when working in automotive. Thank you! read more

Heard a strange noise coming from the car and brought it to have it checked out. They were able to take a look and said it was not anything terrible and they were able to fix a few things in order to get to the next destination. Appreciate the honesty and the effort. Would definitely recommend this company. read more

They're a local auto shop that really delivers on service, quality, and value, in a timely matter. I really appreciate their patience and transparency when I bombard them with numerous of questions regarding pricing and what the parts needed do. They do try to keep their customers' interests in mind and do their best to keep costs low. Thank you very much, Chris, for dealing with an annoying customer like me! read more

Todd and Josh did a great job of pre-inspecting my customers vehicle. They were on point and very professional. Will send more customers your way. Ps thanks for the hat :) read more

I have been very happy with the communication on my truck repairs...the only mistake they have made is they did not tell my my gas mileage would INCREASE by over 10% because I was so damn lazy and took so long to get my butt in there for the repairs. Yes I get great miles per gallon now...20 year old truck and runs great. I blamed my wife and friends for adding gas to my tank just to mess with me....but it was for real....It totally messed up my schedule of when I go to Costco to get gas because of all the extra miles. Oh by the way the price to fix the Toyota was very competitive and I have been back several times. read more

Del Mar Automotive saved me $300. Mossy Ford wanted to charge me more than $600 for two fluid changes. Thanks to Del Mar Automotive my car got its fluid changes for a reasonable amount. I also got free coffee and would have received a free sticky bun but I felt too shy to ask. Next time the sticky bun is mine! I loved the road Del Mar Automotive is on. A beer hall is behind the shop, overlooking the estuary. Mmm. A hamburger! I could wait there, reading, until the work is done. Drinking a beer. Or maybe two beers. The DMA people are pleasant. The location is great. I like the landscape architecture of the roundabout. See you there! read more

Quality service every time from Chris Darcy and the team a Del Mar Automative . Great attention to detail and got the work done fast .

Del Mar Automotive is a great shop for very experienced, knowledgable, and trustworthy maintenance and repairs. They are a great team of professional repair technicians that preform quality repairs. Thanks to Todd and the team for fixing my complicated Toyota Emission Control System that was not activating. They had a simple, inexpensive fix that worked and I was able to get my Rav4 to pass smog. They also have performed many other repairs to my old Rav4 and keep it running in top condition. My neighbor recommended Del Mar Automative for maintenance and repairs and I am very happy I took my vehicle to them. IMO they are the best auto repair shop in San Diego and the best I've every used. read more

I've taken my car here 3 times and every time they have demonstrated honesty. One time I thought I needed my brakes done and they advised me that the squealing I heard was from lack of use (Lockdown), another time I brought it in because I heard a rattling sound. It turned out it was nothing but a piece of plastic that got stuck somewhere. They do good work and they're honest. What else do you need? read more

They were very responsive and changed oil quickly and for a good price but something was done improperly and my car leaked oil afterwards. Perhaps done in a rush. read more

Top notch mechanics. Great People. I recommend Del Mar Automotive to anyone who's looking for quality work by a trustworthy business.

We took in an older car that has steering problems. Todd was great, he checked out everything and said that the car needed a new transmission and a steering column. The cost was going to be more than the car was worth. With the used car market so high right now we asked him if we should spend the money and fix it. He was totally honest and said that once he got into the car it is possible it would need more work. Then he said, I have a client who is going to sell a car that has been maintained really well. He put us together with the car's owners and helped solve our problem. Great, honest place. Wouldn't go anywhere else. read more

I was on my way back to LA from San Diego when my oil pressure alarm was flickering. I called a few local shops, Chris was the only one able to accommodate me as a drop-in. He checked the oil, and top off with a quart to get back to LA, no charge. Looks like a real nice shop too. read more

Todd and team are communicative and friendly. They always explain what needs to be done vs. what could be done and the expenses related to each service. I appreciate the transparency. They are also very easy to schedule with. read more

I've been a car driver for nearly forty years, and I don't know if I've ever had a better experience than I had with Todd and his crew. I'd been told that the Porsche I'd just bought might need anywhere from $2,500 to $5,000 worth of suspension work by the guy who sold it to me. No problem, because we'd taken that into consideration in the purchase price. But then Todd gave it a thorough inspection and said that it wouldn't require anything close to that much work. Saved me a bundle! But then they took it to the next level with my other car, which I was about to sell. I'd just had it detailed, and it appeared as though the detail guys banged up some sensors because the airbag lights were on and the windows and side mirrors weren't working properly. Any other dealer or mechanic would likely have taken the car apart, costing me a couple grand (not to mention me probably having to take the detail shop to small claims court...amidst COVID, no less). But Todd fiddled with the programming codes...and voila! All better. I never write reviews this long, but I can safely say that even though I live nearly two hours away, I will make the drive down any time my car needs service. It's a small price to pay for the peace of mind, honesty, and top-notch service these guys offer. read more

Incredible service and I'm happy they helped! Joshua knows his BMW's. Have a no-start issue with my 2007 BMW 328i and he walked me though the troubleshooting. She's also overheating, but that's another issue altogether Either way, he helped me tremendously and was more than knowledgeable about both of my issues. Highly recommended read more

Del Mar auto service has been around since 1992 in a beautiful location on the lagoon, next to the Del Mar fairgrounds and Del Mar horse track. Del Mar auto service did work on my Mercedes Benz. Going off road and off grid, I blew out radiator, fuel pump and brakes and few other minor things that needed attention. The Mercedes Benz dealership wanted to charge me a lot of money. Upon the recommendation of a friend, I had the big heavy Mercedes Benz SUV towed from Mercedes-Benz dealership to Del Mar auto service. You would think Del Mar auto service being in such a beautiful location, that it would be super expensive to have service and work done on your vehicle. Such is NOT the case with Del Mar auto service! Todd, the owner of Del Mar auto service, is a sweet handsome gentleman who looks you in the eye when shakes your hand and he has a great energy. Todd not only saved me 1000's of dollars, but put in all warrantied OEM parts, and when one of them didn't work, he took full responsibility and paid for all the replacement parts and labor out of his own pocket. He even changed the oil and filled up the gas tank for me and he has way better cookies, (not sure if he has doggie treats or not) in his waiting room than Mercedes Benz dealership does, not to mention you can walk next door for great food and beer at viewpoint brewing company if you are only a short time visitor for routine maintenance to Del Mar auto service. Let's just say, the service great and the location is beautiful and less expensive than any dealership in San Diego county. You can always tell a good mechanic when you see that you could probably eat off the floor of the garage. I am pretty sure that Del Mar auto service could probably fix almost any vehicle, even your broken down RV if needed. At the end of the day, when it comes to mechanics working on your car, you have to know who you can trust with your life, bc that is what you are doing when something goes wrong with your vehicle. Especially driving the way I do! Not only do I trust Todd and del mar auto service, but I feel safe. Thank you! Just ask for Todd. read more

So happy to have found this place! . Todd and his staff were super friendly and took the time to hear me. They were able to get my car in quickly and had the job done quicker than I ever imagined. This is a great auto shop. Al and Todd are super fair and accommodating. They offered to pick me up at my house to make it work! They do great work at a fair price. I totally trust their judgement on my car, I don't ever worry that I might get over charged or told I need something that I don't. There's also a very cute restaurant with a coffee bar and brewery next door with an amazing view of the lagoon, it was a great place to hang out and wait a little for my car to be done. All in all, I highly recommend Del Mar Auto, I always rest assured that things have been done right at the right price. read more
