With the long shelter in place order, I was in a bit of a tough spot to get my emissions tested…read morebefore my registration cut off date of May 15th. Most testing locations are only open during the week so the weekend was my only option. I had been staying out of town in a county where they do not require emissions testing so I had to travel elsewhere for my test. At 3:30 on a Saturday after contacting so many other locations that had testing systems that were down due to a state system issue, I finally found Herbert which was half an hour away and was closing in half an hour. The extremely nice man on the phone said he would stay open a few extra minutes so I could make it in. After racing down to Cumming, I made it right before 4 pm. Jeremy was just as nice in person as he was on the phone. I was so thankful for his kindness and that he was willing to stay open even if I didn't make it before 4pm. The test was extremely fast, he was really professional, and overall it was a fantastic experience. I highly recommend Herbert if you need to get your emissions tested!

Nevertheless, DEKRA made the process smooth, simple, and affordable. I got there right after they opened, so only one inspector was working at the time and there were two cars ahead of me when I arrived but I didn't wait long. After about 10 minutes, it was my turn and I was on my way 5 minutes later with the paperwork I needed and new wipers that my son's car was in desperate need of. A second inspector showed up before I left, so I imagine there wouldn't be much waiting at all for anyone who came after me. I still think this practice of emissions checking is a waste of time and money, but at least DEKRA made the process as painless as possible. I will be back until Georgia gets the memo that it is 2024 and this nonsense is no longer necessary, especially if your car is just a few years old.

You drive up, if you're first in line here you're pulling right up to the computer and the person manning the testing station (Craig) tells you when to stop and put it into park. Today, I showed up with my dad's car and found out that his car was a 2022, so testing was not needed until next February! I ended up coming back with my car because I knew it was one model year older. Marty was filling in for Craig, who was on lunch. Both guys are friendly, professional, and quick- in and out within 6 minutes. By law, the most they can charge her vehicle for emissions is $25. I have never had an issue here - and I will be back every year with all of my family's cars so that way I know I get it done quickly and correctly. Thanks to express emissions! I suspect it was for the very same reason as all the other Not Recommended reviews...Yelp's frustratingly faulty algorithms. The owner of this exemplary business needs to have it out with the Yelp administrators over this injustice. Onward to my review of the business: This is the ONLY emissions test facility I bring my four vehicles to each year. The owner of the business is cordial, the price is competitive, and Buffalo Emissions provides a discount for cash transactions. The complementary bottle of cold water is refreshingly hospitable. Strange as this my sound, I actually look forward to my annual emissions tests. Each year I have emissions related questions to ask the Buffalo Emissions employee. I rarely award any business with 5 stars, but Buffalo Emissions deserves every glowing one of them. I only wish more businesses would emulate the attitude and diligent commitment to customer care found at Buffalo Emissions.

There used to be cheaper places but now everyone is pretty even in cost, and with the service you get here, even if other places are a little cheaper... this is where you want to go. As of today, 9/5/2025 it is $25 (which matches their signage) for an emissions test. I got there around 8:30am and there were no other cars (they can run two tests simultaneously in their outdoor, covered service bay). The two guys working were super nice (the workers in past years have been as well!) and good with conversation without being a chatty or making your test take longer. I was in and out in a matter of minutes. I'll be back next year!
