The initial consultation was straightforward and he brought samples which were helpful. He did a great job listening and quoting for the work I asked for. He worked with my budget and overall was easy to work with. I had some challenges with his team's arrival times not being consistent, and the timeline seemed to take longer than originally expected, but these things happen during renovations and in the end wasn't a huge deal. The entire project took about a week. The final fit and finish were well done, the grout work and glass install were clean and impeccably installed. Finally, a small issue we found with the install was addressed in a timely manner.

Buchanan Custom Decks lived up to that commitment and then some. I had them tear down the old deck and haul it off then construct the new deck. Arrived every morning on time unless they were picking up materials for the job. The deck would have been finished on time except a few materials were late being delivered by the distributors. Asked NG Elite Decks to resurface old deck, and add cable railing. The deck surface turned out…read morewell. They used kiln dried after treatment lumber and the deck looks fine. The cable railing is a different story: Photo #1 illustrates a 2x4 added to the bottom of all the cable sections. This 2x4 takes up the space of the 2 additional cables that SHOULD be there. This partially ruins the effect of a cable rail system. Since this "feature" was present in the demonstration photo examples sent to me before the job (I didn't notice this), and since not enough cable was ordered to do this right, I had to let it go. I have since removed all the 2x4 sections (14 in total), drilled new holes, added the additional 2 cables and incurred additional expense. Photo #2 illustrates lack of planning for the materials to be used. Since all of the cables were ordered pre-made at specific lengths, it was not possible to run separate cables for the stairs as should have happened. Photo #3 illustrates some sloppiness in the cable installation. This cannot be fixed without removing the affected posts and almost all of the installed cables. I don't expect perfection, but for the price that I paid I expect excellence. I would hesitate to recommend North Georgia Elite Decks to anyone without adding some specific caveats.
