I hired this company based on their reviews on the Trex website. There commitment to me was that they would leave the same crew onsite until the deck is finished. Buchanan Custom Decks lived up to that commitment and then some. I had them tear down the old deck and haul it off then construct the new deck. They suggested design changes that improved the stability and the appearance and I'm glad I agreed to their suggestions. this was a nice group of men. Arrived every morning on time unless they were picking up materials for the job. The deck would have been finished on time except a few materials were late being delivered by the distributors. The job was a big one.....600 sq ft ....demo of existing tile....replacement of upper and lower posts...installation of a water proof membrane and ceiling...new decking, railing and stairs...plus screens and doors. Travis and his team did a great job on my deck renovation. They replaced aging PT pine with Trex decking & rails as well as rescreened in a lower deck. Due to the size of the 2 story deck and the existing Dri-B-Lo system that remained, they had the challenge of "blending" existing with new from an aesthetics perspective. I got several quotes and they were neither highest nor the lowest, but they were certainly the most comprehensive in taking into consideration all the various aspects of this "picky homeowner" who has quite a bit of construction experience, but lacks the time to DIY. I was thoroughly impressed with their quality, their punctuality, their communication throughout the entire process as well as their respectful treatment of our property (noise, cleanliness, etc.). What a mess Buchanan Decks has made of my front porch. I told them my main concerns were mice getting in the house under the porch, rotting leaves under the porch, mold from moisture, and bugs. They assured me they would resolve these issues. They rebuilt my porch and installed Trex decking, leaving spaces between the boards allowing rain, leaves, and bugs to get under the porch. Then they put the framing boards on the concrete so the water has no where to go. The mice chewed through the screen on the side and got in my house. The smell of mold is terrible, both in my house and standing on the porch. I had to use shelves from my office to cover the screen opening so it looks terrible. I called and was told they would come back out. Now they won't answer the phone or return my calls. I am having another contractor come out today to try and fix this mess. More money spent to fix a porch that is 1 year old. read more

Travis and his team did a great job replacing an old deck of ours. He also replaced a rotten door and some doors on my porch. They did a great job with the details, as well as totally cleaning up the site when all done and taking away all the scrap. We now have a new deck with an updated look at a very reasonable cost.
