Excellent Italian cuisine. Not a huge menu, but the food was absolutely wonderful last night. Being vegetarian, I was concerned that there wasn't a lot on the menu without meat. But the server said they can leave out the meat and add mushrooms. Perfect solution. The bread was also top-notch, along with the service. First time there and can't wait to go back. read more

The food here never disappoints! Most portions are large & served family style, so we got multiple dishes and shared so we could have more variety. The items we got: *Garlic Cheese Bread - I could eat this for my meal. The bread is so fresh, the garlic flavor is (*chefs kiss*) and lots of delicious cheese. Would highly recommend. *Large Caesar Salad (family style) - So fresh & delicious. I absolutely love Caesar salad & this one does not disappoint. *Chicken Parmesan - Always an absolute favorite * Tagliatelle Bolognese - This was super delicious. I will order this again. *Pesto Pasta w/Chicken - This was the star of the evening. I am not a big fan of Pesto but this was so good! I will order this again. Highly recommend. We were too full to get dessert & so happy to have lots of leftovers to take home. Look forward to coming back & trying more dishes and getting dessert next time. :) read more

Great experience, easy check-in, nice environment, casual, but a little upscale. Delicious food.

I've always enjoyed DeGidio's but my son and daughter in laws wedding reception was held this past weekend and it was remarkable. I am so glad I took a quick uber drive from downtown Minneapolis to come to DeGidio's in Saint Paul. Food was delicious and people are so friendly. You cannot have a bad meal here. Everything was fresh and you can mingle with locals who have made this place iconic. Will definitely be back when visiting the area for work. read more

First off, I know nobody cares but the water aint the nasty tap water you can't drink, it's filtered and refreshing. ambiance is warm and inviting so bring a friend or a date. I ordered the chicken parm, I never had it before BUT it set up a pretty good standard from now on. waiter Elizabeth was also friendly and cheery I hope she enjoyed the tip! 4/5 would come back again P.S get their chocolate cake with the vanilla gelato, trust me. read more

I first visited DeGidio's about 40 years ago when I was working at United Hospital, just a block away. A bunch of us would head there to cash our checks and have a few beers. I mentioned it to my dad, and he immediately knew all about DeGidio's. He told me the food was phenomenal. I admitted we'd never actually eaten there--just drank. So I invited him to join us the following Friday for dinner. After that meal, there was no looking back. DeGidio's became my go-to restaurant. I still remember my first meal there: the Dago. As the years went on, I moved further north and my visits became less frequent. But I eventually introduced my immediate family to DeGidio's--and they were hooked too. Now, we make it a point to visit at least twice a year, and we're never disappointed. The ambiance, the history, the food--and my personal connection--make DeGidio's a forever restaurant for me. read more

Amazing food and great scenery!! The restaurant is a very calm space! Very great service

This Italian spot in St. Paul was great. We had a reservation for 8:15 on a Saturday and we were sat immediately. The seating and ambiance in this restaurant is very nice, comfortable, and good lighting. I ordered the Caesar salad and it was good. I also got the pesto pasta with chicken and it was worth the price you pay for it. The sauce had great flavor! Also not pictured was complementary bread and butter that was delicious. There is also a parking lot so you don't have to worry about paying for a meter. read more

I've now ordered to go and sat down inside at DeGodio's, and I can say with confidence that the experiences are exactly the same. I absolutely love this little place, it's a bit more affordable than Cossetta's down the street and just as tasty in my opinion. For apps, I've tried their pizza fries, garlic bread and Formaggio Di Capra so far and all are great. The Formaggio is a nice, light alternative with the goat cheese. For mains, I've also had their Housemade Spinach Agnolotti, Cheese Tortelloni Alla Vodka and their Tagliatelle Bolognese. All three are scrumptious - they know how to make sauce here. Their wine list is pretty great, I really enjoyed their prosecco, though per glass it's a little spendier than I'm accustomed to seeing. I also have tried their cannollis and now their tiramisu for dessert. The cannollis come a little small, so I'd say go for the tiramisu. read more

This review is for the banquet hall/group catering: I had lunch at DeGidio's the other day for a work holiday party and had never heard of it before. There was a great spread with salad, breadsticks, 2 types of pastas, sausage and peppers, and macarons. All of the food was delicious, but everyone's favorite was by far the bow tie pasta with Alfredo. It was some of the best Alfredo I have had (not too heavy and great flavor)! The breadsticks were also super fluffy and nicely seasoned. I will definitely be back to try their regular dinner menu now! read more

Got takeout, always wonderful! Food was ready on time, consistant and hot!! Get the take and bake cookie dough for dessert!!

I really like Degidio's, it's here in St Paul and it's always been reliably good. I sometimes have a tough time choosing something from the menu but I recently had the Blacked Shrimp Pasta (with chicken instead of shrimp) and it was sooooo good!! Sometimes cream sauces are tough because they aren't always delicious, I have this problem with Alfredo sauces at different Italian spots, usually pretty hit or miss. But this blackened chicken pasta was out of this world delicious, it came with spicy blackened, pan seared chicken with fettuccine, roasted tomatoes and rich Alfredo sauce. I always also order the Garlic Cheese Bread which is really yummy, you can't go wrong with garlic, cheese, and bread with marinara dipping sauce. This is also a great date spot! read more

If this is what you call food idk you should be out of the restaurant game I think this is a horrible display of presentation, I mean be professional in everything you do read more

The bartender was our waiter and he was truly amazing. It was a Saturday night with a hockey game so busy but we got right in at a booth in the bar area. It wasn't too loud and it was good. Food actually came out Incredibly quick. The pizza fries were ok not what we were expecting. The main dishes were not hot. For my kids chicken parm the chicken was hot the pasta not so much. My daughters Alfredo was Luke warm and my tortellini was flat out cold on top. I sent mine back and it came back warmer but still not hot. He told me he stuck it under the warmer, but once again the top was not hot. I didn't have to blow on my food at all. Flavor wise it was good just temperatures were off. We were in and out within 45 minutes. read more

Awesome spot in St Paul. I took a customer in town for a conference here and I have to say that by the busy parking lot on a Wednesday, they know exactly what they're doing. Our server was really great. Professional and had good recommendations. We got the pizza fries and Burrata as apps. Pizza fries may be the next big thing. Instead of a churro it's salty with Parmesan cheese. So good! I got the shrimp and lobster carbonara for my dinner. Didn't even come close to finishing but it was so delicious. I haven't been to MN in almost ten years. At Paul has changed a bit but the food here is good, bountiful, and delicious. Great spot to entertain and have family outings. read more

Been around since the 30's!!! Great atmosphere! The spaghetti and meatballs are out of this world.

A classic red sauce restaurant with good ambiance, food & service. Don't miss this inez

I've been to DeGidio's many times over the years and the food has always been good. This evening, however, was a real disappointment. I ordered the day's special, manicotti with Italian sausage, and my wife ordered fettuccine with shrimp in a pesto sauce. We were surprised at how quickly the meal arrived. It was just minutes after placing our order which was probably the problem since our food was mostly cold. I say mostly because parts were hot, a few parts warm, and some parts still chilled. I assume both dishes were premade, placed in the microwave and given a cursory, but insufficient heating. In addition, my pasta was undercooked and had a strong starchy taste. My wife's meal was tasty enough, just cold. I suppose we should have sent the meals back, but having them tossed in the microwave again for a few more minutes didn't appeal to us so we just ate a bit and left. I hope this was an anomaly and not indicative of a downward trend in quality as has happened at so many restaurants in Saint Paul since Covid. read more

Good ambiance, not super busy. Okay but not the best drinks - the lemon drop martini was thick/syrup-y, and their version of a Moscow mule was pretty good but not much alcohol. Ginger beer they used was really tasty though. We got the garlic cheese bread (red sauce was great!!!) chicken Alfredo and rigatoni porcetta meatball pasta. The entrees were really delicious! Would recommend for a nice date night to try somewhere new but don't necessarily expect to be wowed. read more

We've frequently DiG's for 40+ years. The menu consistently favors 3/4 all entrees with spicey chili red flakes and other spices. The menu does NOT specify these strong flavors, making them unsavory for those who cannot tolerate such dominate flavors. The server was clear about spices and red flakes used in all the red sauces. The manager was unsolicitous of our demise, insisting that a few years ago there was no Polenta on the menu, when we were served Polenta in your restaurant with Serrano pepper (per the cook's admittance). We are discouraged from returning to DiG's with no hope of more than two dishes without untenable spices and peppers. read more

I ordered some really awesome meals from here a couple of times during the pandemic, and I've known it to be a lively place in the past, so I decided to celebrate fully-vaccinated status by coming in for a nice dinner. There are so many bars & restaurants competing for your attention in this area, and this institution, closing in on nine decades in the neighborhood, makes a good case for anyone interested in a fun, busy, exciting bar & restaurant with classic Italian-American red sauce fare. If I'm being totally honest, this is precisely the kind of food I have historically craved more than any other cuisine. On this visit I had the beef ravioli. Very satisfying. I've ordered one of their Bolognese dishes in the past, and I think it's worth noting that it isn't like any Bolognese sauce I've had before. It's not a thick, meaty sauce. It's tomatoes, sausage chunks, and a light, glazey sauce. Also worth noting is that it was ABSOLUTELY DELICIOUS... but not for those who really want what you normally picture with Bolognese, and also not for those who avoid chunks of tomato. All DeGidio's entrees come with freshly baked bread that is likely to be one of the highlights of your day. This time I also got the chocolate lava cake for dessert and I loved it; a little pricey at ten bucks, but I did pay extra for ice cream. They have a spacious dining room, as well as a bar area that is more than just a side business. Lots of bustle there and it's clear that the DeGidio's bar is a very fun hangout for lots of people. Overall there are lots of reasons for you to come here and you'll likely be easily persuaded to return. Plus also you can order delivery or takeout through multiple platforms. Including the Yelp app, so just maybe move your finger a little bit from where it is right now and you'll have tasty food soon! read more

A great semi-affordable dinner place with such great food! I ordered the pesto pasta with chicken and it was absolutely delightful. Our server was on top of bringing us more bread and gave helpful suggestions. Only downside is parking can get tricky if the parking lot is full but I went during dinner time so that's to be expected. Would recommend this place and hopefully will be back soon! read more

Always great atmosphere and wonderful service. You can dine in, get take out or order catering for an event the food is amazing.

Came in for Anniversary dinner, had made a reservation on Resey, but i messed up the date . The hostess said they were full for the night and had no room. The manager overheard the conversation and found room for us as they had a table that would be open. And if we could be in an out in a hour and half they could fit us in. We love the food here the pasta was fantastic they even surprised us with an anniversary dessert that we didn't expect was delicious and wonderful. They gave us 5 star treatment there a a reason they have been in business since 1933. read more
