Dr. Veliky explained that although the diagnosis was correct, it really was nothing that needed immediate surgery. His honesty was welcomed and refreshing. I will return to this office if needed.

Needed my annual eye exam and used ZocDoc to book an appointment with Bergen Optometry…read more The office is located on a busy Street in Hackensack where there is only metered street parking but I was able to find a spot right away. I arrived early to my appointment and they checked me in and had me wait in the spacious waiting room area where they have a cute coffee station. I was seen at my scheduled time and the Optometry Assistant who took the initial screenings and photos of my eyes was very friendly and thorough. Dr. Tong was who administered my detailed eye examination and let me just say she is sooooo thorough! She asked all the questions I expected and many others I didn't expect but mattered. She explained everything she was doing and explained in detail what all of her readings and photographs showed. I highly recommend Bergen Optometry and will be visiting again to fill my glasses RX.

So I went back in to see if they were in and were not. 2 more weeks went by and nothing. They finally said it's in. I went in only to find out they were sooo horrendous I was shocked. To top this off...a person that has been there for years could not see what I was talking about. I mean come on...at this point I wanted my glasses and leave and goto my original place. Please save yourself the headache , time and aggravation and elsewhere. The eye doctor was so interested in my employers business that he did the exam in record time , not giving it much thought. I asked "Thats all?" Oh yes, your script is all set. I explained to him about my recent eye surgeries and he nodded as he walked me out to the counter. I had picked my frame before , as I had arrived early . They measured my PT and "eye balled" where my progressive line would be. This was 2nd week in December. My glasses were not ready to be picked up until March . Needless to say , I have worn progressive glasses prior. But these were so strong I could not even read what they gave me to read . I told her they are to strong. The lady at the counter said "it just takes time to get used to". I called a few times to speak to someone but either the phone ran and no answering service or they told me to come back and wait a few hours for the doctor . I left. Last week I went to my retinal specialist whom agrees that the prescription was way too strong. I have tried for days to call them , but no one answers. I'm going back to my original Cohens in Nanuet, it's worth the 45 minutes drive.

My complaints are, it takes a week or so for someone to call you back if you leave a message if they call you back at all, and the lenses I purchased are not very good grade. They must have sold me a lesser-quality lens. I certainly didn't ask for them. The multi-coatings just peel away after normal use. They replaced the first pair but now my second pair of lenses are also peeling. Two pairs in only 6 months. I do recommend them but ask for quality lenses.

I still decided to get the glasses because I really needed them, and the doctor was very kind, but overall, I don't feel the appointment was worth the $135 for just about ten minutes. Made a same day appointment. I show up and they ask me for both my medical and eye vision insurance. I share that I have VSP and that I am there for my annual vision exam. Get my exam and then they charged me $110. Later changed it to $70. The bill states that this isn't Lencrafter but rather Eye Wellniss. I tell them that this is my free yearly vision exam. Only after the fact do they tell me that they are out of network with VSP. They scammed me and led me to believe that VSP was in network. Only after the bill do they mention that VSP is out of network. This is a poor way to run a business. Never again.
