Our daughter passed every test the first time! This driving school is fantastic. I don't think you can do better than an online teacher like Lincoln. We did weekend courses which was so convenient and Lincoln was always alert and interesting sometimes bringing his young daughter in during the first few minutes of online driving school. He definitely kept our teens attention. Rick was our daughter's favorite in person driving instructor for the following reasons. He was patient and kind, he offered great feedback and was very positive. That goes a long way for a brand new/teen driver. She passed her physical driving test the first time with flying colors and we owe that to the instructors that taught her. She is a terrific driver now and very confident. This review is about driving classes for teenagers. When I was looking at local schools, there were hardly any reviews about any of them which made it difficult to choose one. My daughter was 15 and was an extremely anxious driver. First, let me say that we found DDS (Defensive Driving School) to be well organized. When you sign up, you choose a start date and which days you'd like to have classes. They send you a notebook in the mail and schedule you for a parental zoom class. They answered all my questions in that session. Next, your child will begin online zoom classes (they are with a live instructor and other students) where they learn state laws, can ask questions and take two tests. I do believe the last test is very close to what the state exam is. DDS has an app to schedule your drives. The student does 5 of them plus one observation. Their app is basic and very slow to load, but it gets the job done. We had no problem adding or cancelling drives. They also have you download a second app which you use to track all the hours your child practices driving. The state requires that the parent signs that the student has driven more than 50 hours when you apply for the drivers license. f find it strange that a review on here is complanining about how they parallel park between poles. Not only does that take the stress out of learning (since you're not between cars) but that's also where they have you park when taking the state exam. You can schedule your state knowledge and driving test through DDS. So your child will have the same instructors that they have been used to and will be driving in the same area that they have been training in. As I said, my daughter was very anxious. I rode in the backseat for all of her drives (that's an option for any parent) and was really happy with how the staff taught her. My daughter liked the online instructors too. If you need, you can pay for extra driving sessions. They also offer specialized ones that are more advanced. In the end, for us, we just spent many, many hours out with our daughter driving us around. She would practice the skills they were teaching her on her drives and they did really help. Driving school is very expensive so its stressful to sign up blind to a school with just hope that it will go well. We knew nothing about how this was going to work when we started. Would not recommend this place for the driving test. I took my driving test yesterday in Auburn and my overall score was a very high grade but I didn't pass due to an error that occurred at the end of the exam. Then I came here to take it a 2nd time and the instructor I got gave me a way lower score than the other instructor at the location in Auburn. Clearly the instructors here are way more strict!! Not coming here again. This place is also very expensive. The knowledge test here is also more expensive as well as the driving test. I paid $50 in Auburn and paid $90 here for the driving test. I paid $35 here for the knowledge test and it was $20 at the Auburn location. I feel very ripped off!!!! The instructor I got had a bad attitude and was very strict. I will not be coming here again and will not be recommending this location to any of my friends or siblings. Bad place to take a driving test! I wouldn't be surprised if they failed people (who didn't take their driving classes)and then recommended their classes just to get more money and more clients. Seems to be a scam they are running. My daughter had a great experience with DDS! The online classes covered everything in a thorough way, and made it easy to re-schedule classes that were missed. Horrible... Defensive Driving School. When I emailed "customer service" for a charge I felt was unwarranted, the response I received was paragraphs of snarky defensiveness. A page of oversized bold text and colored font designed to be "professional" yet insulting at the same. If your student misses a "hand raise" in the one two-hour course, you can expect to take the 2 hour course again. They boot the student from zoom, and if you have any problem and cannot get back in within 10 minutes, you lose credit for the course. If that happens more than 3 times over 6 weeks, your student will have to take the 6-week course again! read more

They are a wealth of knowledge and very patient and kind in their instruction. After looking at different driving schools and locations in our area, I decided that DDS would be the most convenient in terms of location, class times and cost. My first deciding factor was how well they kept the website up to date with class times and costs. Everything was there, listed plain as day which was really handy when trying to make sure the schedule would work. As far as classes go, the structure was good, and my son did well. The instructor was clear in directions, and as long as you studied, have some common sense and took the classes seriously, it should have been a breeze. My kid is not the brightest bulb out there sometimes and is not a studier so much as a crammer, but he picked up the information quickly and has common sense. Online scheduling for drives was easy to use as well. Lots of options as long as you are able to plan your schedule early. I schedule all his drives as soon as we were able to so we had good time slots. A few we had to reschedule later on, but we still had plenty of options. Overall, I liked the organization and cost of DDS and will definitely be sending #2 through them as well next year! read more

This school was good as far as the teaching and the instructor was concerned but as a student who went there I was forced to wait over a month and a half just to be able to take my driving test. I have had to call both my instructor and the company multiple times to try to figure out what was going on and it still didn't help. If you think this school is a better option just because it is cheaper well.. you're right but just know you get what you pay for, even though the test alone cost me $85 when at another school it is only $50. I am having to take my driving test at 911 because I was told I would have to wait ANOTHER month to take my test and I finished my class almost two months ago. Defense driving school is not only super unorganized but their in class curriculum is so outdated! Even my instructor kept saying it! For people looking for a good driving school I would recommend not going here. I personally didn't learn anything I didn't already know from what driving I had already done, but for someone who hasn't really been behind the wheel the instructor will help you give over your fears, if you have any, and will teach you how to handle your car but that's going to be the case at any driving school.. read more
