Actual Photo of an Official Disc Golf Disc seized from a player that hit my car when it was parked out on the street adjacent.
    David D.

It makes me feel so good to be at Deerfield Community Park. I park here from time to time to join the bike club for a ride on the weekends. I like the bathrooms at this park, location, and feel. What does not make me feel so good is that my car (with me at the car), got hit with a Hard Disc from the Disc Golf players 2X in the past 3 years and keep in mind that when I am at this park, I am only at my car for maybe 20 minutes loading or unloading a bicycle, and my car is parked on the street! So I have to imagine that this is not an infrequent occurrence and probably people have gone home to see dings and dents on their cars, and not connected that it may have been caused by a Disc at the park. And on the two occasions that my car was hit and the player came over to retrieve his disc, there attitude Was NOT, "Sorry, that one got away, I hope that I did not cause any damage, what can I do?" It was more like, "Where is my Disc man?, S__t, it hit a car?" These are not professionals here that can control their Discs, they are amateurs many of them. And ladies and gentlemen--these Disc's are not the soft Frisbees that you see peeps at the beach or park passing to one another. The Discs used in Disc golf at this park are Hard, Sharper edged Discs, that dent the body of the car, and if they hit you in the head or face, can cause serious injury in my opinion. Picture getting hit in the head with a golf ball. They can knock you out faster than Mike Tyson! See photo above of actual Disc seized from one of the Disc Golf Perpetrators that hit my car. The circumference of edges on the Disc, are a hard solid inflexible plastic. While the city of Irvine warns with many signs when you ENTER the park to look out for flying Discs--the City set up some nets close enough to the street so that cars parked and people walking by can be clonked in the head by an errant Disc. There is no warning to people that just park on the streets adjacent to this park of the Disc danger. I would place signs up the minute you turn onto the streets around the perimeter of the park. Really the park needs to be netted like some parts of a baseball stadium --is the real solution. If my car has been hit 2 times on the street already and I'm not at this park very often, and not at my car for very long when I am at the park--how many other cars and people have been hit by these uncontrolled flying objects? I would never bring my children to this park.

I wasn't too keen on this park because the two play areas are separate. The older kids play area is on the other side of the park, and it is not stroller friendly to get to, as there is no concrete path. The play area for toddlers is nice and shady and has a low concrete wall encircling it which parents can sit on and watch their kids from. The carpark is decent and had some shady areas.

I absolutely love this park. It's pretty small but it's my go to place for an afternoon run! I love the volleyball courts frisbee and the sprinkled inclines. To anyone reading this: I run for about an hour 2-3 times a week. Anybody interested is welcomed to join(:

It's a really nice and peaceful park. I literally walk through it everyday. People also play frolf here and look very serious about it.

As long as that thing ain't in my mouth I'm ok.

Very fun course for disc golf. Pretty nice for beginners as most holes are 200 feet and under. Best part it's free.

Hands down one of the cleanest, most convenient parks in the Irvine area!…read more There are several baseball fields, tons of gated tennis courts, playgrounds for the kids, countless picnic areas that are numbered for parties and gatherings. I think what makes this park stand out is the crowd. Any park can be beautiful but, without the proper maintenance from the park crew (and most importantly the park goers) it doesn't stand a chance. You see tons of regulars here with their dogs, families, kids. Everyone is friendly and respectful of one another. The dog crowd at this park is also one of the best I've seen. Although the park is not off leash, there's wide open areas for you to allow your fur family to play catch, run around, and have a bit of freedom! They do have a couple of posts that have doggie bags however, they run out quick so please do come prepared with your own poop bags just in case! There are plenty of water fountains throughout with water filling stations attached, so don't forget a bowl for your fur family!!

Last Tues was their ribbon-cutting ceremony inaugurating 8 brand-new public pickleball courts in Irvine. + Tall fences to minimize ball-on interferences. + Many tables and benches to sit around. + Many clean restrooms 1-3mins walk away. + Enough baseline room for retrieving lobs. . Okay sideline room for ATPs. . Wide skill range there, from novices to high-intermediate players. - LONG wait. Since the first day, crowds rushed in to line up for open play. The rack is already full with 30+ paddles. + During middle of the day (lunchtime), it's empty. . Only one rack queue for all 4 (or 8) open-play courts. - Starting yesterday (Fri 2/6/26) the other 4 courts became reservation crts. -- On the first day, it was chaotic. My paddle was first in line. A game ended and someone called next 4 and gave me my paddle. I turned to hop on an open court, but no court was open. I turned back and the queue had already shifted along, so there was no spot at the front for me to put my paddle back. I asked around. One person said he was in the same situation, then he grabbed an open 4-paddle holder to put his paddle back in front of the line. I tried to put mine in, but he kept blocking me out to let his folks put theirs in. I was dumbfounded, disgruntled, distraught. No one cared to help my situation. An Irvine city employee walked by, and I explained my situation to him. He couldn't offer much help. After a few min, I accepted my miserable situation and put my paddle back in the end of the line. I only got to play 1 game that day. - The city employees should've known better. Keep 1 or 2 members monitoring the hectic paddle queue to ensure no one gets cut in line. . Moral of the day: before removing your paddle from the front of the line to hop on the next court, make sure you know which court # you're going to, make sure the ppl there are leaving, make sure the other 3 ppl in your group of 4 are going with you. . Idea: If you do wind up in my situation, and you've already lost your place in line, one thing you can try is grab an empty 4-paddle holder, squeeze it in to the front of the line, and put your paddle in. Offer any 3 random ppl (who are already near the front of the line) to join your 1st-place paddle holder. If people object, explain your sad situation first. If they remain adamant, I guess the mission's a no-go, then you'll end up having to return your paddle to the end of the line. I'm only just thinking of this idea now. Didn't get to try it while I was caught up in the moment. Hope the same thing doesn't happen to you.
