I called to see if I could get a same day appointment. I was in a lot of pain at the time. The receptionist said, usually they do the exam first & the second visit go over their findings & adjust you if you choose to begin care there. But, that if I came in the doc would probably adjust me since I have had chiro care in the past and was in pain.
Their website says:
"On your initial visit Dr. Johnson will provide a no-charge consultation. This will allow you to meet the doctor and the staff with no commitments attached. If Dr. Johnson feels that you could benefit from chiropractic care, he will do a complete health history, examination, and x-rays (if needed)."
I went in & filled out my health forms, they did the exam (no x-rays) and did an adjustment. When I went out to the Lobby (assuming I would need to pay for the adjustment portion o f it) It was crowded & the receptionist seemed frazzled. I said I was coming later that week to go over the finding & that I could pay for the adjustment then if that was easier.
She said, ok. I came back later that week went over the findings & agreed to start the treatment plan. They did another adjustment that day. I went to lobby paid for two adjustments & scheduled my next appointment.
Had another adjustment that next week & paid. On my 4th adjustment when I went to pay the receptionist said, you have an outstanding balance. I said from what? She said from your initial exam. I said, no I came in for the free consultation & then paid for the adjustment at the next visit. She said, no the consultation is free. Then you should have come back in at another time for the exam & 1st adjustment. But, you did it all in one day. You never paid for the exam which was just under $200!!
They made it seem like the exam was part of the initial free consultation. No one ever mentioned there was a fee & as you can see from their website it is misleading. BTW the "exam" is primarily them asking you to bend, touch your tows, twist, etc to see your mobility. They did run this little machine down my back that apparently lists the "hot spots' that I need work on. That would have been less than 5 minutes but the guy doing it kept leaving to answer the phone.
After about a month of visits I was told it was time for my reexamination. No machine this time. Just bend & stretch so we can check your mobility. Went out to pay - Oh, it's an additional fee for the re-examination. $$ - I was told there would be a re-examination each month to see if I could come in less frequent;y. (First 3x a week, then 2x eventually just 1-2x a month for maintenance) I was never told that it would be an additional charge for the re-exam.
They also recommended that I do PT through them. But, that was another several hundred dollars so I went through my doctor & got a referral. Military insurance will cover PT but not chiro care.
The staff is all friendly enough, as is the doctor. But, I don't like the hidden charges. read more
