She understands each and every animal, and can figure out a game plan for healing them of an ailment. My situation was unique in that I had her work with the local vet, and she was really cooperative. She really helped save my dog! She recently moved into her own business, and its a lot nicer there than where she was before (in a conventional vet office). My dog LOVES her, and she loves him just as much. I wish I could do more for her, especially after she has done so much for us. She is really reasonably priced, and she is one of the best people you'll ever meet.

Doctor McLean is the very best in my opinion. He is extremely knowledgeable, practical, and compassionate in the treatment of the animals, and us! We have referred many of our friends to Dr. McLean and those that tried them out are still taking their pets to this clinic. Also, they are reasonably priced in comparison to other vet clinics in CT. Prior to taking our pets to this Clinic, I lived in Simsbury, where you'd think there would be excellent vet care. We used two different clinics we used in Simsbury. The veterinarians were aloof and failed to diagnose a perilous issue with my cat. Very pricey too, especially in light of the misdiagnosis. When we moved to East Haddam we met Dr. McLean told him about the issue with my cat. He was able to educate me as to the problem. Anytime you have an expert willing to take the time to educate, and give all the options, it shows how knowledgeable and credible they are in the subject matter. I highly recommend!

But was horrified with my past visit and feel it's my obligation to communicate this experience. The attending veterinarian failed to carry out the most basic and prescribed exam functions during my feline's annual visit. This included failure to take the cat's temperature, doing a through examination of his teeth or even checking his ears or fur coat for the presence of mites. The only handling done was an abdominal and kidney check which lasted approximately 1 minute. All other wellness checks previously described were omitted which were always performed in the past by other veterinarians at this business. The only questions concerning my pet's overall condition, health and habits were what type of food he consumes, with only a single note being taken by the veterinarian during the visit which lasted hardly 5 minutes. I communicated this experience to Chester Veterinary Clinic owners in a letter, never even receiving a phone call or written reply concerning this visit which demonstrates their disregard concerning any customer dissatisfaction or feedback. Chester Veterinary Clinic was once a premiere place with fantastic veterinarians that provided a caring and competent environment, but sadly has digressed into a sub-standard level of care place to take your pet. There are plenty of other vets in the area that will provide competent care.

I have sat in the waiting room for an hour or more on several occasions, but I never complained because I understand Vets and techs are busy, and our dogs have always received stellar care here. This evening I called because my dog threw up all over me and the car on our way to his appt. I had to pull over to clean everything and called as soon as I was clean enough to let them know I was late. The receptionist asked how far away I was and I said I'd be there in 10 minutes. She said "oh that's fine, come on down!". I arrived and Dr. Vitelli refused to see us. Suddenly I'm not feeling so understanding about all the times I've waited 30-60 minutes past my scheduled appt time. They could have rescheduled when I called, instead they let me sit in the waiting room for 15 minutes while Dr. Vitelli couldn't decide whether he'd do us the honor of seeing us.
