Such a charming record shop! It's pretty small with not too large of a stock, but it's really cute inside. I love the decor - especially the display window. It's also quite tidy, which most record stores tend not to be. The counter is decorated with tons of old concert tickets from Prince to Pixies. I asked the owner if he had been to all of those shows and he replied "yep, that's the perks of being an old man." Will definitely be returning!

They also sell records and have a bargain section for $1 by the register, but those have to be paid in cash. I saw a lot of great books there and was able to find a Wally Lamb book. There were tons of books for such a small space and the books are fairly priced. You can bring books to sell, but only until 4pm. It is worth a visit.

I really appreciated the many genres of books they housed, and how many of the novels centered around magic, anarchy, protest, diverse cultures, etc. they had a great selection of stickers and little trinkets as well, which is fun to look at. I was a little confused because they are a new and used bookstore, but I didn't see used prices on any of the books I picked up, just the sticker prices. They even had signs about them buying books, but I didn't understand really where I could shop used if I so desired. The man at the register was quiet and didn't interrupt my browsing, but was kind when I greeted him and offered to help another guest while I was there. Since I generally don't find myself on Main Street and mostly shop used books, this isn't my fav store in the area, but it's definitely convenient for this part of town and has great stock!

No, I don't need any new additions to my collection but I NEED to keep looking and buying (I bought about 12 or so LPs yesterday at Plan 9). I have a collection of (vinyl) records to rival most - over 15,000 plus almost as many CDs. I have thousands of 7 inch records. I'm 79 years old and I have most of the records I really want, but I love to continue the search. I love the experience of flipping through records. And Plan 9 is the best place (with the possible exception of Memory Lane) to do that. I spent an hour or so there yesterday morning and found things I don't need but like. I collect mostly Rock 'n' Roll, Folk, Jazz, Country, R&B/Soul but I am fascinated with the easy listening LPs of instrumentals and vocal choirs covering 60s and 70s popular music. The kids might call it "Exotica", but I call it easy listening. Plan 9 has it all - inexpensive to ridiculously expensive - Jazz, Easy Listening, Rock, Country, Soul, Hip-Hop/Rap, Folk, Local music. It's a trip and I love every second of it. Thanks, Plan 9 for hanging in there and giving Richmond an iconic record store!

I visited here for a Yelp Elite event and had such a relaxing experience. As soon as I walked in I…read morefelt there was a need to take things easy and chill out from the day to day worries. After checking in, my friend and I went to the register to redeem and order our drinks. I do not like coffee, but was able to order from the menu despite that. There were so many things I wanted to try, but made a note to return regularly, not just for the drinks, but to view the record collection also. We saw so many oldies in the collection and there were a lot of albums to look through. When sat down once our drinks (The Matcha Spritz and Matcha Mule) were done and had them with vegan breakfast options provided at the event from a different vendor. La Cache Dulcet does not serve food yet, but plan to in the future. There was a DJ and he was top notch. The music wasn't so loud that we could not hear each other talk and we were right next to him. We didn't want to leave because this whole place was a vibe, but we had to get back to the tasks of the day. We purchased another drink (Chai Latte with Cardamom, Pear, and Cinnamon syrup) on the way out and it was hands down, DELICIOUS. They use oatmilk for their drinks so I didn't have to worry about dairy restrictions. This place is not just worth trying. It is worth experiencing. They plan to have events that will be announced on their Instagram page.
