It's mostly storage with a VERY tiny selection on a handful of shelves that are accessible to the public.

A gem. Check out their old magazines and zillions of genre-specific posters.

If you're in the market for Records - new or used - this is a must stop place in Richmond. Heck, if…read moreyou're in the area, you should stop by and just browse a bit. There really is nothing more soothing than listening to classic rock on an record - and believe me, the owner plays vinyl. It's not a massive store, but rather a wonderfully curated collection. The new selection is impressive and the used collection, a bit picked over from the holidays, featured some really good prices (as low as 3 bucks). The stock looked to be in great shape. I had a great conversation with the owner - who looked pained when he realized it was my first time there, right after his stock had been decimated by Christmas shoppers. Still I left impressed.

The selection here had me delusional for a minute and I forgot that I live on a budget. I…read moredefinitely went overboard with my initial vinyl choices, but the guy working there was very understanding (which makes sense since he's a cog in the machine that casted the voodoo spell on me in the first place). He had such a positive vibe and was incredibly friendly and was just like, "You can put anything you don't want to buy in this pile and I'll put everything back." He also asked if I wanted him to tally up my selections before he actually rang them up, but I declined and decided to trust my erratic arithmetic skills and go all in (either I'm a mathematical genius or I do math at a 1st grade level, no in between). He even so kindly offered to get the door for me as I was leaving. All in all, I took a quick photo of my reject pile, so I will return to rescue those wishlist items ASAP. Don't know how I never noticed this shop before now; my loss!

Vinyl Conflict (I'm assuming named after the Slayer boxset of same name) is a great store I came…read moreacross online. They had a bunch of cheap cheap $3-$10 records and I bought some. All were used (and all were in great shape upon arriving). Pretty freaking cool for $85 (includes shipping), for 13 records, that I genuinely enjoy and look forward to listening to again. I was really pleasantly surprised at how many records they had on the cheap that were in my wheelhouse. The descriptions on the website were very helpful, letting me (the buyer) know the condition of the record, if it came with an insert/poster/whatever, and if it was colored. Sometimes even more info than that. These guys and gals know how to vinyl. The guy I communicated with at Vinyl Conflict through email (Bobby) was really cool and didn't care about last-minute additions to my order. Packaging was great too upon receiving it. They're no dummies. Check out Vinyl Conflict, you might find some great music for a great price. Jesus I sound like a commercial. But do it anyway!

Helpful and friendly service, awesome and interesting finds, and just something fun to do if you're bored. In fact, I think it was boredom that turned me into a hipster to begin with. And ironically enough, I'm currently in the process of knitting a beanie, no joke. :-D

They also sell records and have a bargain section for $1 by the register, but those have to be paid in cash. I saw a lot of great books there and was able to find a Wally Lamb book. There were tons of books for such a small space and the books are fairly priced. You can bring books to sell, but only until 4pm. It is worth a visit.

I really appreciated the many genres of books they housed, and how many of the novels centered around magic, anarchy, protest, diverse cultures, etc. they had a great selection of stickers and little trinkets as well, which is fun to look at. I was a little confused because they are a new and used bookstore, but I didn't see used prices on any of the books I picked up, just the sticker prices. They even had signs about them buying books, but I didn't understand really where I could shop used if I so desired. The man at the register was quiet and didn't interrupt my browsing, but was kind when I greeted him and offered to help another guest while I was there. Since I generally don't find myself on Main Street and mostly shop used books, this isn't my fav store in the area, but it's definitely convenient for this part of town and has great stock!

No, I don't need any new additions to my collection but I NEED to keep looking and buying (I bought about 12 or so LPs yesterday at Plan 9). I have a collection of (vinyl) records to rival most - over 15,000 plus almost as many CDs. I have thousands of 7 inch records. I'm 79 years old and I have most of the records I really want, but I love to continue the search. I love the experience of flipping through records. And Plan 9 is the best place (with the possible exception of Memory Lane) to do that. I spent an hour or so there yesterday morning and found things I don't need but like. I collect mostly Rock 'n' Roll, Folk, Jazz, Country, R&B/Soul but I am fascinated with the easy listening LPs of instrumentals and vocal choirs covering 60s and 70s popular music. The kids might call it "Exotica", but I call it easy listening. Plan 9 has it all - inexpensive to ridiculously expensive - Jazz, Easy Listening, Rock, Country, Soul, Hip-Hop/Rap, Folk, Local music. It's a trip and I love every second of it. Thanks, Plan 9 for hanging in there and giving Richmond an iconic record store!

Their metal is arranged by genre, both in CDs and LPs. This cool little spot packs a punch with a nice menu, great people and an incredible selection of records. I made an effort to include this shop in my itinerary while I was in the area for a Yelp event. I had 2 goals: get a matcha and pickup some records my dad and I would both enjoy. I succeeded. I ordered the Le Yams as Matcha which was sweet and spiced with a great balance of flavor. I dug through the crates and was able to score some James Brown, Lakeside, George Duke, and Johnny Guitar Watson. I was impressed by the selection. After checking in, my friend and I went to the register to redeem and order our drinks. I do not like coffee, but was able to order from the menu despite that. There were so many things I wanted to try, but made a note to return regularly, not just for the drinks, but to view the record collection also. We saw so many oldies in the collection and there were a lot of albums to look through. When sat down once our drinks (The Matcha Spritz and Matcha Mule) were done and had them with vegan breakfast options provided at the event from a different vendor. La Cache Dulcet does not serve food yet, but plan to in the future. There was a DJ and he was top notch. The music wasn't so loud that we could not hear each other talk and we were right next to him. We didn't want to leave because this whole place was a vibe, but we had to get back to the tasks of the day. We purchased another drink (Chai Latte with Cardamom, Pear, and Cinnamon syrup) on the way out and it was hands down, DELICIOUS. They use oatmilk for their drinks so I didn't have to worry about dairy restrictions. This place is not just worth trying. It is worth experiencing. They plan to have events that will be announced on their Instagram page.
